don't like it? don't say anything
This is a discussion forum. You are free to post your comments, and I'm free to post mine. And no, you can't decide for other people if they should say anything or not, much like I cannot decide for you if you should post your works or not.

criticism is telling someone they are on the right track but suggesting improvements... not flat out telling them they up right are horrible. There is a fine line between criticism and bullying.
Your definition of criticism is wrong. It doesn't require saying one is on the right track. Criticism means making judgements and pointing out flaws - which I did. Constructive criticism implies talking about solutions and ways of improvement - which I also did, by suggesting to think about directing your time and efforts into something else instead, if you cannot or don't want to improve in the field of art.

Anyway I shouldn't even be bothering with someone's "criticism" when they cant even spell the word correctly....:umno:
Thank you for noticing my mistake. I'm learning and improving every day, including today (thanks to you). I'm not hiding behind "don't like my spelling? Don't say anything" mentality, and that's why my English during last ten years made a lot of progress. The kind of progress your art skills don't make at all.

Whether you want to improve anything or not is something up to you to decide. From my POV somebody who spends a decade of their life doing the same work (passion, hobby, fun activity, call it by whatever name you want), yet always remains at the same basic amateur level without showing any signs of progress is making a mistake. You are free to disagree with my POV, of course.

I want to put this out there first: Onesurvive, I like your art style. It's something different from what you usually see and I appreciate that.

My personal opinion on Mara's post is that HOW he delivered his message maybe went a bit overboard...but, all the same, I understand what he is saying and I'm worried you don't understand it. Here's the thing: the art you posted the other day, and the artwork you shared with us in February, looks like it might as well have been made back in 2009 when you made the very first post in this thread. (EDIT: I'm just seeing now that the first page has been edited...and there is a "2014" on one of the pieces. So have you gone back and edited that first post from 2009 with newer artwork? Because if so, then nevermind.).
Yes the links were broken from that time and I wanted to post new stuff so it's not from 2009.

I think what Mara is trying to say is this: 10 or so years later, ideally your work should look a bit different. But I'm seeing that the colors, for the most part, still look flat and the shapes still lack depth. If I were you and if I wanted to improve, I would focus on experimenting a bit. Try a different color palette. Experiment with different shades of the same color in one part of a Senshi fuku that's supposed to be one color. Consider trying new ways to layer a character's hair.
Thank you, this is the kind of criticism I would like to hear, THAT's how you do it. I actually didn't start coloring seriously until maybe... 4 years ago or so? I will admit it's a struggle for me, I am usually spending more time on try to make things less flat looking but it does take time, I don't have that many opportunities to draw with my work lately, as you can see the time frame between my posts are quite large.

Again, you DON'T have 10 years to go off of so I'd really not like to hear from you again, you're very rude and if this wasn't online I would be using more than words because someone like you needs a slap into reality on how to treat people properly...you clearly like to push buttons for people to get upset. If something isn't to my liking I wouldn't go all out to put them down, you might think someone doesn't put effort into something but you have no idea what that person does to achieve something from nothing.
