Still the rest of the languages did t now, and some of them wouldn't have done it in normal circumstances. Especially France... I really want to see what will the Latin Spanish dub ends up like. There were some claims they will use the old localized names, but they are suddenly dropping the guardian bomb, so I doubt they were allowed to.

I hope they were forced to use the original names. I don't see why a non-English dub would use these names when even the latest English dub dropped them.

Tuxedo Mask was even recognized in Japan as an official name, so I think it's a exceptional case.
That is true, but I find these stuff lazy and jarring, I can agree with Sailor to be untranslated as part of the name, but to use the English words for the Planets, attacks, Tuxedo Mask, some weapons sounds off in many languages, even worse when the voice actors butcher them even more. Japan use random EngRish all the time, but if they force every country to use them in English, some will end up being laughed at - imagine a new Russian dub :D I know in many languages people are forced to keep Moon, because the actual word is Luna and they cannot find a round about it, but random English thrown here and there would ruin a dub.

Mars should have been recast. But knowing that they were having a lady in her 70s voice Luna just for the sake of nostalgia, that's not surprising.
At least, I feel glad Toei made them drop this DiC name nonsense.

am too lazy to search for a source, but it is obvious - every language Crystal was dubbed to kept the attacks in English. . Even in French they kept all the attacks and names of the sailors in English. France would never do that unless being part of the contract. They renamed Mamoru to Endi so they can translate Mamo-chan to Endy-cheri so it rhymes but kept the attacks in English and tried their best to pronounce the names of the planets in English. I guess Mexico will do the same. We shall see.
Actually this is also incorrect for the French dub. Yes they kept the Japanese names except for Mamoru, but all of the attacks are translated in French, as are all of the transformations. The Sailors, other than Moon, have the French planets as names (aka Sailor Pluton instead of Sailor Pluto.) This was the same way they handled their Sailor names in the 90s dub.. though that one would go back and forth between calling Ami Sailor Mercury or Sailor Mercure... (but then again the French 90s dub had a lot of name inconsistencies across the board anyway.)

Was it the Portuguese dub of Crystal then that started out translating the attack and transformation phrases and then had to use the original English phrases?
Yeah, from Act 3 onwards though there was that accidental airing of 6 & 7 which had the translated names.

Sounds like the dubbing for Crystal has been a bit complicated across the board. Before the dub premiered in France, all of the trailers and promo for it had Usagi’s name as Serena (which in itself was funny because her 90s dub name in French was Bunny.. so going with DiC’s name was an odd choice.) When the first episode premiered though, her name was Usagi. I guess they changed their mind at the last minute? Though they kept Mamo as Endy..

So, they showed 6 episodes as a marathon, the dub is great! Even some voices sound old, they do the job and keep the feeling of the old dub but with japanese names. I want to see what they do with Usako and Mamo-chan.
The attacks were in spanish except for Akuryo Taisan which they keep in japanese.

There is always a difference how a native speaker percieve a voice versus a foreigner. Broadcasting 6 episodes at once is a strange choice. Is any info on ratings available?
