Since it's Pride Month, I thought it would be appropriate to start a thread discussing all the LGBTQ+ characters in the meta-series.

List of Confirmed Canon LGBTQ+ Characters
Zoisite
(Bisexual?*, cross-dresser in the 90's anime and first musical. Cross-dresses twice in the manga but is presumably straight?)
(*He's mentioned as having girlfriends in one of the audio dramas.)
Kunzite
(Bisexual in the 90's anime and first musical. Presumably straight elsewhere?)
Queen Beryl
(Bisexual in the novelization of La Reconquista. Presumably straight elsewhere?)
Haruka Tenoh / Sailor Uranus
(Butch lesbian in the 90's anime and musicals. Presumably genderqueer lesbian in the manga and Crystal.)
Michiru Kaioh / Sailor Neptune
(Femme lesbian in all iterations)
Senda Haitarou
(Gay; Exclusively appears in the S audio drama)
Fish Eye
(Gay, cross-dresser in the 90's anime, possibly the musicals as well? Cross-dresser in the manga, but his sexual orientation is unclear?)
Hawk's Eye
(Cross-dresser in the manga, sexual orientation is unclear?)
Tiger's Eye
(Cross-dresser in the manga, sexual orientation is unclear? He comes onto Rei but it's unclear if that means he's straight or bisexual, or if he was simply messing with her head? Some dialog in the Optimum dub suggests he could be bisexual.)
Yoshiki Usui
(Presumably gay, though could conceivably be bi; Exclusively appears in SuperS)
Orangeat?
(Described as an "okama" in the Materials Collection, but what that means exactly, and whether or not that detail can really be said to have made it into the SuperS movie itself, is unclear.)
Seiya Kou / Sailor Star Fighter
(Either gay or bisexual given her crush on Usagi. Due to the murkiness of the context, it's unclear what to make of Seiya's and the other Starlights' gender identities, especially depending on the iteration of the series.)

I believe that's all of them. Did I miss any? I know there are several characters (like Fiore or Minako's manager from the live action series) whom many fans regard as being queer, but that I don't believe have ever been officially labeled as such.

How about those human characters romantically attracted by animals, & vice versa, or by their siblings, as well as a lil girl by her dad? :P

I don't think incest or bestiality qualify someone as part of the LGBTQ+ community. Therapy yes, but not the community.
They don't, of course - I was just suggesting that there're also characters belonging to other categories of romantic relationships. lol

We're also missing Usagi being bisexual. Or at least her manga version, considering what she pulled with Haruka...

I would add all members of the team, considering they'd do anything for Usagi... But that would be Usagisexual and doesn't qualify here.
Rei and Minako can tease here and there, but they have been portraied as straight. Although I honestly ship them.
Their first loves were obviously men-but considering that by the Infinity arc Minako is giving Rei Casablanca Lilies for her birthday fully knowing what they mean for the miko, I dare say there's something between them that has been going on behind the scenes.

Wasn't Makoto the one who knows the whole story. The rest of them probably just know it is her favorite flower.

Usagi is perhaps bi-curious, but any interest she had in Haruka was largely predicated on her belief that Haruka was a guy. If Haruka had presented as female all along, Usagi likely would have never had any kind of romantic feelings towards her, and once she learned Haruka wasn't a guy, she pretty much ceased have any such interest in her.

I have never seen Usagi a even bi-curious. The whole Rei is so pretty was admiration and is pretty common trope in anime. With Haruka and the rest of the senshi to be honest she felt attraction that can be considered romantic, but for me it was just some sort of force that connects them. I dubt she ever had any romantic feelings towards anyone but Mamoru, at least in the manga.

They're having a secret affair just like their mythological counterparts!

Personally I never thought any of the Inners were anything other then straight. I will say this in the 90s anime Minako is definitely straight as in Sailor Stars once she finds out Yaten is really a girl she says she lost all interest in her. Usagi likewise seemed straight as she seemed to be weirded out when Haruka flirted with her.

And yet, in the manga she's the one to give her those flowers and say she knows what they mean for her. Rei evidently told her off-page.

In the old anime, I think you're right. In the manga... Not so much.

Ah, the manga. Where Ami, just a few days after first meeting her, already knows she can get Usagi to follow her anywhere by telling her there's a beautiful girl.

It might be headcanon talking (or subconciously remembering the "Brad" stuff of the Optimum dub), but I always thought of Michiru as bisexual.
I think too that she has at least an interest in men. Just look at all the teasing she did with both Mamoru and Seya.

Being yet another not-so-subtle projection of Naoko's personality, Michiru gets wet whenever she sees someone with sportcars and a lot of money. Gender of their owner is of secondary importance.

I don't think incest or bestiality qualify someone as part of the LGBTQ+ community.
There is a reason why there is "+" in the name. Nobody knows already for sure what it actually stands for. :creeper:

that's funny because in the 90s anime she tech could transfer into a man "for her"

Yeah but it seems like that after she knew that Yaten's true form was feminine that was enough to make her lose interest in her. So I think that pretty much confirms that Minako in the 90s anime isn't interested in women at all.
