A live action movie would be nice, but I would not want it to be a Hollywood movie. That's not because "Hollywood is evil and will whitewash it" but because actually the reverse; they wouldn't localize it enough and leave it in this limbo of partial Americanization, flattening the characters while keeping the Japanese setting.

If you're going to do that, you might as well just leave it in the hands of a Japanese studio and let the foreign audience read subtitles.
I feel like for a Hollywood movie to work it would have to

1. be set in America. I don’t trust Hollywood to set a movie in Japan and not turn it into a theme park version of Japan. Which leads to..

2. Using the DiC names (at least for the girls and Mamoru) Serena, Amy, Raye, Lita, Mina, Darien, and Rini(if she appears) they could still use names like Dark Kingdom and what not and keep Zoicite male

3. A diverse cast. I honestly think Serena should be Japanese-American (no reason her hair cant be dyed blonde) and have Raye as Japanese too. Everyone else fair game but at least try to make it diverse.

I also imagine that if a US movie gets made there is NO WAY that a fourteen year-old Usagi/Serena will be dating a seventeen/eighteen Mamoru/Darien, at best he will have a one year age gap from Usagi/Serena.

Mamoru's age is never explicitly given in the manga, but Luna seems to think he's 17-18 in the first arc, which would make him at least 3 years older than Usagi. Since he's at least one year into college when Usagi starts high school, that seems to track.
Did it not appear on his student id in the third act? I know it at least identified him as a high school junior which would put him at 16-17

Nope, it just says he's a year 2 high school student. If Usagi was a first year high school student at 16, that likely puts Mamoru at 17.

In Japan, the school year starts in April. You must be six to start first grade, seven to start second grade, etc. Because Mamoru and Usagi have summer birthdays, they'd age early on in the school year. So while Mamoru most likely started the second year of high school at 16, depending on what time of year the manga takes place, he's probably already 17. Of course, as has been mentioned before, the way time works in the manga and anime and the characters' ages don't really make any sense, so you really just have to ignore all of that anyway.

I thought it would be 16 as a second year, and third-year 17/.That was with me, than again I was born in the summer not fall.
Three years of high school in Japan (equivalent to 10th-12th grade) since Mamoru in the manga was a second year high school student (grade 11) he would be 16 or 17. Like Memento said the ages in the manga/anime are all sorts of messed up but I’m pretty sure Act 5 explicitly takes place in June (June brides or something was mentioned) so he would be/should be 16 for at least the first five or so acts. The manga was only a little better about the timeline than the anime.

I know we've gotten a bit off track with this age discussion, but since I was just looking at Act 19 to "fact check" a quote shared in another thread, I may as well mention this here:

In Act 1, when Usagi is introducing herself to the reader, she says she's 14. She does not turn 15 until the Tanabata side story, which is set at some point during the Infinity arc. (Side note: Rei's birthday, as we all know, is April 17. She celebrates her 15th birthday during the Infinity arc which means the birthday she celebrates in Casablanca Memory, which takes place between Act 3 and Act 5, must be her 14th, meaning she's 13 in Act 3 and that Act 1 must take place in March, if not earlier, which means Usagi should advance a grade at least between Act 1 and Act 5, which she does not. Anyway.)

In Act 19, Usagi mentions she first met Mamoru during the spring, which tracks. Act 19 was first published in the August 1993 issue of Nakayoshi. Perhaps this is why Usagi also mentions that it's almost Mamoru's birthday (August 3rd). Usagi's birthday, as already established in the manga, is June 30. It is impossible for Mamoru to have his birthday without Usagi's having had hers first. So either June comes after August in the Sailor Moon universe calendar, or Usagi's lying about her age/birthday.
