Season 4 movies update: Sailor Moon Eternal - Delayed to 2021 (Part 1 on January 8th & Part 2 on February 11th)

It looks like the Eternal movie might have some competition: The Cornered Mouse Dreams of Cheese Film Opens on September 11 After COVID-19 Delay

It is nice having other films confirming release in September. It means higher chance the film will be released.

Well, that is understable. How many movies that were due in March, April and May had to be postponed? 20? They will have to readjust all the planning.
And if theaters only acceps 1/3 of their capacity now, releasing a movie now is losing money.
On the good(and unusual) news the second movie will be released in February, just a month after.

I think this might be taken with a grain of salt. The previous leak which was the trailer was accidentally uploaded on the official youtube channel. While I trust the info and believe they will be delayed, I find it quite strange for them to know such specific info and the time between the two films seems quite little for me to believe it. While I expect a delay, I doubt the dates given.
In any case we deserve a trailer to keep us interested. And if that is true they better confirm it. Also if the movies are released just a month apart, it should mean a quicker home video release.

Well, the leaked teaser was uploaded by someone at Toei on Toei‘s official youtube channel (not Toei Animation). Weird strategy with the „leaks“.

I hope they keep us feeding with new info material and merch until january. Maybe they will work until then on the movies? So it could be good for its quality.

I guess nothing.... They won't reveal anything on 30th. I do not expect anything now. It might get worse in winter and they delay further and further.... Damn stupid virus that got well blown out of proportion. They better have the decancy to release it episodically or not took another 1 year for blu ray release.

To be frank, I think there would have been a delay on the rest of the world seeing these movies anyway (as some countries and cities are just getting out of lockdown). I’m glad they at least confirmed that both parts will be released almost simultaneously. It’ll be great to be able to binge both movies next year.

I hope there will be no international cinema releases. Otherwise I won't see it till I am 40... Many people expect a second wave this fall, so nobody knows if a 2021 release will indeed happen.

As someone who had people all around them catch it, no. It's not blown out of proportion, it spreads like the plague.
Japan had it's first infections long before the US and took forever to implement a lockdown, now it's suffering some serious consequences.

There's no way the production wasn't gonna fall behind schedule with this.

Except this production wasn't supposed to be so dragged out. This franchise is cursed. There is not a single thing about it that doesn't take forever.

They could have at least upload a proper 3 minute story trailer to make the [BLEEP] less stinky! At this point we deserve to know what we are waiting for. At this point I feel this is the only trailer are getting. Because it was so satisfying and will make people who waited 4 and a half year wait another 6 months before the next delay. Sailor Moon Eternal Waiting.

Sad about the delay but not surprised. At least we're getting part 2 a month after part 1. I don't think they'll delay it again, but who knows. Still hoping for a new trailer on Usagi's birthday, along with cast info for the remaining characters.

I think Digimon Adventure Kizuna is being released straight to DVD/Bluray internationally because all of the COVID delays. The same might happen to Eternal's release outside of Japan.
