As someone who hates S3 transformations and in love with S1-2 transformations, never thought i'll say this:
S3 transformation was better
Yes there was problems in frames quality but alteast it wasn't carbon copy for Moon and had fluid and fast animation
Retraced S3 speech poses lost it powerful impact
Quality check of key frames-who?
In-between frames-who?

Yeah that art for the sunglasses didn't look bad. Crystal Season 3 after the actual Season 3 had very good promotional art - tweaked to a much more appealing look. Like the Halloween merch and the Eagles one. I like this promotional Usagi for J!NS a lot, but she looks terrible in the actual animation.
I kinda like the art from season 3, specially the one from the settei, they don't have this baby face that they animated the whole season that really bothers me lol (I mean, they are underage but it looks like they got younger compared to s1/s2) and it looks like a polished version of the first two season's artstyle
Spoiler: show

But...but I thought there was a five-year gap so as not to rush, take their time, and deliver a quality product. And I thought this being a theatrical film meant Toei gave it a bigger budget and assigned experienced and talented people to work on it. What happened?
And the worst is most fans will blame it to Deen, as if we will ever find which studio did what.

When the blame should go to Supervisor Naoko but nope, these people will blame it all on DEEN just like with they did over Seven Deadly Sins' last season.

Why Naoko though. The show has a director. Naoko is a manga artist, while she is supervising colors and stuff, we cannot blame her for bad director's decision, bad animation. We know she cannot work with another studio and she has nothing to do with all these animation-related stuff. She is most likely supervising scripts and voices and color schemes. I hate it when people make it sound like she is the devil and has to approve every frame of animation. Of course she is not. The person hired for that is not doing it either.

Like I don't have an issue with them doing an homage to the '90s anime when it's done right.

For example, this might be a controversial opinion, but I think Crystal's version of Moon Spiral Heart Attack looked very more fluid and cooler than the one in the '90s anime. Like it took the original choreography and expanded on it. It also incorporated the manga with Sailor Moon calling out to Neo Queen Serenity. It was genuinely a very nice sequence.

With this they tried to make some tweaks and add some movements, but it all looks very jarring and fanmade.
Both tie in my opinion, but did they need to have Moon call out to Neo Queen Serenity every single time in Crystal's?

Geez. Don't they know that the transformation and attacks in SuperS and Stars are the most boring ones? And now they try to copy it.
Mercury's was cool with that harp entirely made out of water, I've always loved that one, at least they gave her the actual talking lyre in the Eternal preview and it looks more original (is Toei favoring :ami: again like how they gave her her own OVA, new transformation and attack in 1995?).

That would be like blaming Kenichi Sonoda (wonder how he would have depicted the Sailor Soldiers) for the first Gall Force film (which also had TV anime quality animation, and that still looks superior to Crystal's, and Gall Force came out in 1986!) having problems with most characters not having distinct enough personalities, Sonoda's not a writer, he's just a character designer/manga artist.

Geez, I'm thinking of also working on another doujinshi/fan comic with characters having uniforms inspired by Sailor Moon/Gall Force and I could come up with better animation than what Toei's putting out nowadays, I think I was right when I said I'm noticing an increasing laziness from them.

I was talking about Sailor Moon's attacks in SuperS and Stars :)

Oh, Moon's. I liked Moon's Gorgeous Meditation, it had a fast energy vibe with its choreography and music, the mirror effect was utilized well. The Stars attacks with Starlight Honeymoon Therapy and Silver Moon Crystal Power Kiss, those were too long and not much to its choreography, just Moon standing around a few times, twirling only a little bit.

I really hope this animation gets improved until january ...
Also I lost my hope for a new theme song. Guess they'll go with Moonlight Densetsu.
If they have to use Moonlight Densetsu, use the Momomiro Clover Z version or something, I dunno if there's any new versions.

Well. This transformation and the speech are done ages ago. I remember shortly after they revealed the concept art Ysuharu posted some of his weird clips in his studio. The final pose was on his monitor. It was blurry and nobody was sure. But now that it is out we can see it. Do not expect any improvment on this as ot has been done in a while and we see is probably the finished sequence.

SailorSpySedna Let; hope to get new version. The Momoiro version is really awkward and cheap. But now that I worded it like that maybe it will fit.

I think they just want to grab money from us fans.
What's the point of waiting for 4 years with this quality!?
Just make a TV-series for Dreams and 2 movies for Stars.
It will be more meaningful because 90's anime didn't have Stars movie, and this will be the last movie for the Crystal series.

Not us, Japanese fans. Highly doubt this will be released overseas. How can you see it compared to Heaven's Feel (which is comming in September, and Eternal crap isn't but whatever) or Violet Evergarden. I have this feeling it will flop big time and Stats wi end up as OVA or tv show again.

I agree with you. I think they just want to hold an anniversary event to grab money and release it as a movie. A movie with a very low quality.
There's no reason to make Stars a movie again.
