Like I don't have an issue with them doing an homage to the '90s anime when it's done right.
For example, this might be a controversial opinion, but I think Crystal's version of Moon Spiral Heart Attack looked very more fluid and cooler than the one in the '90s anime. Like it took the original choreography and expanded on it. It also incorporated the manga with Sailor Moon calling out to Neo Queen Serenity. It was genuinely a very nice sequence.
With this they tried to make some tweaks and add some movements, but it all looks very jarring and fanmade.
Both tie in my opinion, but did they need to have Moon call out to Neo Queen Serenity every single time in Crystal's?
Geez. Don't they know that the transformation and attacks in SuperS and Stars are the most boring ones? And now they try to copy it.
Mercury's was cool with that harp entirely made out of water, I've always loved that one, at least they gave her the actual talking lyre in the Eternal preview and it looks more original (is Toei favoring
again like how they gave her her own OVA, new transformation and attack in 1995?).
When the blame should go to Supervisor Naoko but nope, these people will blame it all on DEEN just like with they did over Seven Deadly Sins' last season.
That would be like blaming Kenichi Sonoda (wonder how he would have depicted the Sailor Soldiers) for the first Gall Force film (which also had TV anime quality animation, and that still looks superior to Crystal's, and Gall Force came out in 1986!) having problems with most characters not having distinct enough personalities, Sonoda's not a writer, he's just a character designer/manga artist.
Geez, I'm thinking of also working on another doujinshi/fan comic with characters having uniforms inspired by Sailor Moon/Gall Force and I could come up with better animation than what Toei's putting out nowadays, I think I was right when I said I'm noticing an increasing laziness from them.
