We all know Minako started it all. She is the best character, at least for me and she deserves her story and being the star of the show. I do not mean Sailor V anime. I mean a proper all senshi saga with Minako being at the top, while Usagi being non-existent or a very minor character. Minako is fun, strong, beautiful, great and deserves the best.

I want a reboot with Chibi Chibi as the new leader. Instead of yet another cheesy introduction speech she would just yell "Chibi Chibi!" and charge at demons. Usagi would be her personal servant carrying around a box with freshly baked donuts.

To be honest not much would change.:P
From it being NOT the 90sshow but manga based a lot could change. Minako in the manga is not Usagi, unlike the 90s show and shifting to her and experience the story from her point of view or entierly different adventure would be quite different. Of course I condider the 90s show OVER and DONE. I said spin off and not the 90s remake. Sailor Moon is not just the 90s anime and I am so glad it is not.

Even though I'm not a fan of Minako, I will admit I would be interested to see what the series would be like and the twists and turns that it would entail. Usagi could be the Sailor Venus fan girl who idolized her.

While I definitely prefer the idea of subbing Mercury as the main character as MementoNepenthe proposed, but it would be a lot more easy to to put Sailor Venus in that role. I would also prefer it if Phantom Thief Ace were the love interest.

She can easily have one love interest each season.

Same, I also wish Naoko had gone with her original concept and had her be the MC. I like Usagi fine but Minako's my fave and I just find her as a much more dynamic & interesting character than Usagi personally. I think it would've been really neat if the story was told from the perspective of the Princess's Leader and the dilemmas she faces while being in that sort of position. Usagi should've just stayed as the Princess she was supposed to protect, a key character, but not the sole focus where the story is told in her eyes. I would've liked it better if SM had a more similar structure to CLAMP's Rayearth actually, where the Inners are the main characters (particularly Minako) and it's told from their perspective whereas Usagi & Mamoru are more like the Princess Emeraude & Zagato of the story.

i like this idea. Maybe have Minako and Phantom Ace's tension build up while her love interests pewter out (for one reason or another) each season, and have Phantom Ace play that role in the final one, then have him give Minako her "fortune" like in the last chapter of Sailor V once she defeats him in the finale. It'd drive the "your love will be forever hopeless" thing in well.

A Codename Sailor V animated series would be amazing or something along those lines but not too faithful. The storyline meanders a little more per chapter and Codename is very similar to Sailor Moon with Minako/Usagi as lazy gamers with a cat that has to whip them into shape. It would need some slight deviations from the source material since Codename can feel more like a blueprint of the main series. I do like the Dark Agency and Phantom Ace could be a lot more interesting a character than Tuxedo Mask.

The resemblance is a bit superficial:
  • Physical: Minako is a gifted athlete, being a skilled volley player, the winner of the school's half-marathon (as a first year), and a gifted martial artist (though she hadn't trained for a while before the series). Artemis' trouble was that she wasn't interested in combat-related training... Though by the time the main series rolls in she started training seriously and even train the Guardians.
  • Study: Minako goes to cram school. She just can't work under the Japanese system (a result of her past abroad).
  • Crying: where Usagi is a crybaby, Minako outright refuses to do so, and is more likely to beat someone up.
I could continue for a while, but in the end their resemblance is less than it seems, and derives in no small part by Usagi imitating her idol.

  • Yes, that one year in grade 7 she spent abroad. That’s the reason she does poorly in school.. Okaaaaaay

Both blue eyes blondes
Both have a talking cat mentor
Both have a knack for being late
Both are ditzy
Both are drawn to fame (Minako far more so)
Both are guy crazy

They’re not exactly the same but the similarities are hard to ignore. Even when I was 5 and DiC played down Mina’s uhhh ditziness with Stephanie Morgenstern’s performance and the removal of the screwing up her proverbs schtick the similarities between the two were hard for me to ignore.

Minako never lived abroad in the manga.
