My Thoughts:

-I thought the OP was the best version of the three (surprisingly)
-The animation was so-so, but nothing too jarring that it took away from the episode. Hopefully it can be fixed for blu-ray
-Submarine Reflection was awesome; Chronos Typhoon was disappointing. I really wish they would have made it look different from 90s Dead Scream
-I was disappointed the Inners were practically worthless vs. the witches, but they made it up during the fight with Kaolinite
-I legitimately laughed out loud during the ED. Such an odd choice.

Overall, I thought the episode was great! 9/10

Well I watched the subtitles on Crunchy Roll & Im not sure if its just me but the subtitles appeared to be really messed up on my end. I think several sentences didnt make any sense.

The new opening sounds pretty bad until they start singing together which became a bit more bearable.

Despite the surprise ending being Mamoru, I actually liked it a lot. It really feels like it belongs in another series though, or a spinoff Kamen series. Nothing else much to say except I find it unique and pretty catchy. I really like how it starts off.

The episode itself was pretty meh, earning a 5.7 from me. I noticed the animation dips too, which I usually look over. I felt the pacing was awkward and in a few parts rushed. The Labyrinth Batyle betweebln the Witches 5 was pretty bad. Mars got soccer ball kicked & borderlined assaulted. I found the brainwashing thing a bit campy & the Guardians became hynotized so quick. I wouldn't have expected Mercury to get brainwashed like that. The Mercury would have never taken her visor or computer away when she lost sight of everyone.

Submarine Reflection was okay, Chronos Typhoon wa a mess & I do remember making a post about Dead Scream from the 90s being just like Chronos Typhoon. I literally asked myself where was the rest of the attack??

Kaolinite's diamon form was scary but the fight between she and the Inners was pretty dry. Seeing stock footage over and over again makes you appreciate the real time attacks in S1 & 2.

Mistress 9 looks pretty nice and judging by how the bat scene was removed...Im guessing their will be no ripping out of Hotaru either.

This season started out strong and is still fairly holding itself together but I hope it doesn't get weaker as we progress towards the climax.

I think the most awkward scene for me was something that also in the manga: Usagi and Mamoru kiss over Chibiusa's body.

"Our daughter technically died, lets have a romantic kiss, thats what people do in such situation right?"

No. I guess Mamoru wanted to show Usagi he's with her but a hug would do.

At least they fixed Queen Serenity hair after act 4.

I hope they fix it for the blu ray, but it seems they won't.
Maybe because all the episodes were done before they realized it?

Agreed. A comforting kiss on the forehead would make more sense, not making out in front of their almost dead daughter.

^^THIS!!
I didnt want to think I was overthinking it but the whole scene just seemed strange. They getting all intimate with a deep kiss right over Chibi-UsaUsa's corpse.

I enjoyed the episode even if there was some mediocre animation but it wasn't too bad. I've just come to expect better but it wasn't horribly distracting as the worst from the previous 2 seasons. The new OP was good. Even though I'm slightly disappointed that we won't get Pluto's transformation this season, I'm also glad that they didn't waste precious time on transformations for everyone as there was a lot to adapt from the manga. I teared up a bit at the scene in Mamoru's apartment when Diana was crying about Chibiusa. Kaolinite's ceremony reviving the Witches 5 was creepy and would've been better if she killed a bat and used its blood but I guess that would've been too gruesome.

I didn't want the Inners to kill the Witches 5 like some here but it's too bad that 1:1 didn't allow them to at least fight back a little before being brainwashed and taken down so easily. Submarine Reflection was beautiful and powerful and Neptune got her much needed kills after sitting in the background for the most part in previous episodes. Chronos Typhoon was slightly disappointing being too similar to 90s Dead Scream but it did look good. Kaolinite's Daimon form was creepy and at least put up some sort of a fight before being killed by Moon. It could've been a more dynamic battle but again 1:1 so what can you really do. The scene with Mistress 9 swallowing Chibiusa's Silver Crystal was creepy and a good way to end the episode only for it to get to the horrible new ED.

Honestly, yeah. Mixing up a bigger bow, sure, blonde hair, bad but fine, I can deal. But it was super awkward to see Prince Endymion kissing Neo Queen Serenity, who you can blatantly tell is her because of the crown in the new ending.

To be fair Mercury was brainwash in the manga as well.

The episode was all right and exciting enough. Didn't expect them to deviate too much from the manga so can't be surprised at some things. The animation and art didn't look bad to me really except for maybe a few parts. Like when Tomoe and Kaolinite entered Mistress 9's room.

Kaolinite's daimon form looked so silly to me. Basically a roided up Troll doll mixed with Tora. Something about the way they rendered her daimon form aesthetically made it look poorly drawn to me. I've said it before, but Crystal's artists in general don't draw monsters very well. At least Kaolinite finally got to do something substantial. While I love them including her Magus form throughout the series, she's been basically useless in this adaptation. They changed things from the manga where she'd assist the Witches 5 (i.e., summoning daimon).

Chronos Typhoon was incredibly disappointing as it was too short and nothing really happened during the sequence. Even worse than Mars Snake Fire.

Submarine Reflection looked good. See, Crystal can do decent and good original sequences that don't rely on the nostalgia factor.

In general, the fight scenes were well done. Yeah, a lot of stock footage, but it's kind of a moot point. When Sailor Moon evaded the attacks - that was nicely handled. Sometimes Uranus isn't so smart, though, is she?

The new take on the opening song is okay, but I'm not a fan of the song to begin with. The new ending song is very '90s, not a bad thing - reminds me of Mystic Eyes from Escaflowne. I think I'd like the song more if the singer wasn't bleating like a goat at times and didn't sound so nasally.

Little confused this week with the act title, Crunchyroll got a bit mixed up, not in the subs themselves, but on their website, oh well.

So again the enemy tries brain washing the good guys, they can't come up with any new trick. I do like how Mistress 9 turn the table on Kaolinte, treats like Kaolinte treated the Wtiches 5, underlings senting to their doom.

And yes the Death Busters they are all once humans who tooken over by aliens, or more likes killed by aliens and their bodies used as host buddies. Which makes me feel bad for them, though we never got to know them as real humans. Still the idea of say the Witches 5 just being normal students and just be killed by these aliens, it is just sad. I wish Crystal would do more with that, with how they did more with the 4 Kings of Heavens, but it can't be helped.

So the Outters finally admitted their true feelings, they wanted to be friends all along, from now on, no more serpressing your true desires to act all tough. Okay.

It wasn't a bad episode but these kinds of episodes are always hard for me to get behind. The Inners are supposed to protect the Princess/Sailor Moon but they are defeated soooo easily. They shouldn't be manipulated that easily. And the stock footage just really took me out of the fight scene, if there was ever a time to change it up, it was here.

It makes me wonder how did they managed to get Chibiusa's body out of the hospital without any issues :P

Also Usagi stayed in Haruka's arms for quite a while didnt she? :mischief:

Really loved this episode. I like this Momoiro Clover version better than the previous one. But the first one will always be my most favorite. The ending is ok, but seems unfitting to have since, as someone said, the last few episodes are centered around Hotaru/Saturn instead. Way better than the CHibiusa song, but not as good as Eternal Eternity.

I loved the fight between Kaolinite and the Senshi. Everyone seemed badass and helped in some way. I was really worried that the episode would end with Sailor Moon saying, "Let's keep going guys!" after she turned super. But I was so glad that they fit that fight scene in there.

And I'm really intriegued by the next ep preview. The Witches 5? I didn't think they were still relevant, lmao.

My first thought when I saw that was that they would be healed and purified into normal people, but then someone mentioned that it's probably gonna be about how they were created instead.

The Inners getting so quickly brainwashed and not being able to break out of it themselves was the most disappointing part for me. Mixed with the Outers' sudden about-face.

I know this is all exactly like in the manga, so I shouldn't expect any different, but what MAKES it disappointing every time Crystal adapts some of the manga's weakest scenes is that we know they don't ALWAYS copy/paste. In acts 2 and 16, they took (in my opinion) very weak scenes with Ami, and altered/added to them to make them very moving and memorable. They also made Prince Demande's death much more memorable. Crystal CAN do this, so everytime we approach another weak moment part of me hopes they'll work that act 16 magic again. And everytime they don't, it leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Re: Act 35 discussion thread

The episode was enjoyable but felt a bit redundant for the Sailor Soldiers to fight the Witches 5 all over again, especially since they didn't have them use their daimon forms in this episode. I was hoping they were just saving their daimon forms for this showdown and we'd get to see them, so it's a little disappointing, and it comes across a bit pointless to have the Sailor Soldiers fight the same bad guys they already defeated if they have no new powers. I loved seeing Submarine Reflection and getting to see Chronos Typhoon animated for the first time though I felt like their attacks could have been better animated. I'm glad Crystal is getting all the drama between the Outers and Inners out of the way quickly as opposed to the 90s anime that dragged it out all the way to the last episode of S. I think it makes more sense for Mamoru to use his healing powers in Crystal where it's already established he has them. It always made little sense in the 90s anime when they gave zero indication he had these abilities before and it seems like they forget about it quickly after. The Sailor Soldiers being tricked to give up fighting for Usagi for their dreams reminds me of that episode towards the end of SuperS and I wonder if this manga act was a basis for that episode. I'm glad they at least kept Kaorinite's daimon form and Mistress 9 was deliciously twisted and evil as always. Toei's subs continue to be atrocious and I have no idea why they keep insulting their fans' intelligence like this when no other simulcast anime has these severe translation issues. It looks like we're going to get more fanservice next episode. Will Kotono Mitsuishi promise us more service servicu?

This episode had some lol's for me:

- Uranus & co having a hard time getting past the vines but it only took a world shaking once they finally tried it x)

- Mistress 9 just hanging around in Hotarus room and Prof. Tomoe comes in chill like "oh mistress 9 there you are, cool" haha. I was just expecting something more in the lines of "YAAS SHE HAS FINALLY ARRIVED AFTER SO MUCH TIME! OUR GREAT SAVIOR AND MUSE MISTRESS AMAZING NAAAINUUUU!"

- And last episode I was like "oh ok cool!" when Uranus and co were dead set on killing Hotaru, but now out of nowhere they all just decide not to? For no apparent reason, lol
