^ I guess you can open the book in a way that its cover & back cover touch each other, hence turning it into a circular object. lol

Not sure why you'd expect them to have completely new covers? At least they have a few cosmetic changes so they're not 100% the same covers as the kanzenban.

Since the first two volumes included recent but otherwise never before compiled illustrations as their frontispieces, I wonder what illustrations these volumes will include...

I'm currently trying to make progress reading the Bunkoban version of Karakuri Circus.

The text can sometimes be frighteningly small to read - makes me glad for easy on the eye Kanzenban editions :/

Use a magnifying glass (especially for the furigana), like what some elderly people do to read newspapers. lol

It's a different market, this is supposed to be for the casual reader who buy manga in the train station, so it has to be pocket size. People don't carry in the train big books. Usually books are really small in Japan.
And there is no need of another reissue of the shinsoban since it's not out of stock and they haven't announced end of production. You can buy all the volumes in every single bookstore in Japan, along with the Kanzenban. As I said, an edition don't replace the other one, they are for different markets.

At this rate, I wouldn't be surprised if they announced a re-release of the original tankoban version. Will we ever get a full-color release or those long-promised art books?

Still, I find that edited version of the perfect edition cover illustration interesting... Assuming they use that as the cover for volume 1 of this new release, I wonder if we'll get similarly edited versions of the other illustrations for the remaining volumes' covers...
I will honestly only buy a re release of the manga if they do a full color release otherwise I am happy with the ones I have.

^ Then they should introduce an online version of the manga too. lol
Many artists are against kindle editions, mainly because they are very easy to pirate, although some of them point artistic reasons as well. Some people prefer pocket size manga and I guess some of them might want an edition with the newer cover art. The 10th anniversary manga edition is nice enough, but the more childish cover art might not be pleasing for older readers, so this is a nice addition. Many people find it milking but compared to Rose of Versailles that gets new edition every 2 years, this is really nothing.

Perhaps the manga is now like the Bible, w/ so many various shapes & sizes from huge, hard-cover ones to tiny, pocket-sized ones, published continuously from time to time - afterall, the manga can be regarded as the bible of the fandom. lol

I was thinking only about the Bible, not the manga, when I typed that, lol but yeah, we've yet to see a huge, hard-cover version of the manga - perhaps Kodansha should consider publishing such "de luxe version" in due course, if not already so. :D

Will they fix Uranu's big insect arm this time?
Nah, they'll never do that, as it's already been a staple feature of the manga.

So, to summarize, there are:

Coming soon:

- An aizoban edition
- A soshuhen edition
- A wide-ban edition
- A digital / e-book edition
- A pop-up book edition
- An edition with simplified Japanese text
- An edition with classical Japanese text
- A reissue of the tankobon edition
- A reissue of the serialized version of the manga sold as individual comics (a la Tokyopop/Mixx Comix)
- A reissue of the shinsoban (with stickers)
- A reissue of the shinsoban (without stickers)
- A stereoscopic edition
- A life-sized edition

And still there'll be no fully colorized version.
I was thinking today: what if they released a version of the manga where all the chapters (including the Sailor V ones) were compiled in their original release order. They could do it in ten volumes like so:

I couldn't imagine getting the bunkoban versions. Talk about getting a headache, nor can you appreciate the artwork properly when it's so tiny. So glad for the extra large size of the Eternal edition, feel like I'm reading it properly for the first time.
