Anyone disappointed that the new anime isn't a new story?

So it seems that the new anime, is just a new adoption of the manga. Anyone disappointed with that? I was hoping that they would just continue the story from where they left off in Sailor Stars. Maybe show them graduating from high school or perhaps in college. I mean I'm definitely glad that there is a new anime, just wish it was a new arc, adding to the original story.

No, and technically it is a new story that will be told another way. Im glad they didnt continue past Stars Arc because all we needed to know by then was that things turned out the way they were suppose to thanks to previous seasons giving us glimpses into the past and future. Besides theres only so many monsters of the day plot people can take...

So this is a new story to be honest just like all the other incarnations of the franchise.

I'm not disappointed. I like many aspects of the manga and it will be nice to see them played out in an anime (a weakness with the manga was that some actions were hard to decipher, and I expect the anime to make up for it). Plus, plenty of anime have been based on manga and they add a lot to the shows, with some slight diverging from the source material.

nope I'm sure not, this is a chance to be closer to the manga as well as be it's own thing as it progresses
perhaps this time we'd have the best of both worlds [anime character development and manga story and such perhaps adding missing characters who didn't appear in the anime/pgsm before that were part of the manga]

it's a fresh start
the new series can't continue from the old one, that story is done it's been around 16-17 years since the anime ended
the only thing they should have added to it within that time should be a movie,[taking place after stars to be the true series end off story which leads to crystal tokyo ] special or spin off [sailor v or outers]

it's too bad the old anime didn't end it like yu yu hakusho, showing what happens to the characters a few years later I guess it's because we already knew the future of sm

No, not disappointed. If it's fairly true to the manga it'll practically be original in comparison to the 1st anime anyway. Also, prequels and sequels produced 20 years later usually end up upsetting the fanbase, so no.

Why would we expect anything other than another adaptation of the manga?

Even Saban Moon would have been a different take on the same story. :p

I'm not disappointed, a continuation after Sailor Stars would have been ridiculous, there's almost no story left to tell, they fought villains on a galactic scale, they showed the past and the future of the Sailor Moon world, a ton of characters had been introduced and their relationships explored in countless episodes.

A back to basics approach and doing a new adaptation of the manga is the only way this new anime can realistically work, barely anyone would have cared about a post Sailor Stars story. Seeing Usagi grow up, change, learning about her destiny and meeting the other senshi, falling in love etc. is the interesting part, why would a new anime not do that and instead make a show were she already knows everything and just keeps zapping monsters until it's time to become queen? Her character's journey was complete after Stars, she was the most powerful senshi in the galaxy, surpassing everyone else.

Am I the only one here, hoping they age the characters further. Seriously we got 5 seasons, and Usagi only aged two years from 14 to 16.

I would much prefer the characters to age a little more in this new anime, and not see a repeat of such little time being covered.

I would much prefer Usagi to be a senior in high school during stars at least.

I actually would love them to do a flashforward this time around at the end of stars to five years in the future, or even a post-stars movie to tie up loose ends.

Not at all, I'm actually pretty happy it's gonna be based on the manga. It's what I've always wanted! :D

If it follows more closely to the manga's timeline, then the Dark Kingdom and Black Moon clan would be fought in the same year when Usagi's 14 and in Grade 8, the Death Busters when she's 15 and in Grade 9, the Dead Moon Circus when she's 16 and Grade 10, and Shadow Galactica either in the same year as the previous or the next (can't remember if it was the same or the next year in the manga).

I really want to see a more manga-based Stars arc. I just love the manga's version so much more than the anime's... and hey, if we get to see the Shadow Galactica characters from the manga that the original anime didn't use, I'll be pretty happy. :)

Nope. Why would I? Anything SM that is new is fine by me.

Not disappointed at all for all of the reasons stated above.
One thing I've noticed is that the comics have so much more style than the show. It has this elegance to it that I'd love to see translated into animation- I think they missed the boat a little bit on that aspect the first time around.
