Looks like they're not including Viz's extras again, the first set in their release includes a dub cast interview and it's believed that the second one will have an interview with Momoiro Clover Z.

Totally not fussed on the lack of Viz extras. I rarely watch extras more than once so would rather high quality episodes and packaging. Can't wait to see with what they come up with.

Madman have also begun streaming Crystal s3 on animelab.

The packaging has been revealed.

7 episodes per disc? Hmm I hope they know how to encode better than Viz does. Also, those heinous stickers on the pink box :wry: that's one of the things I've always hated about Australian packages.

To be honest, all versions of Crystal have the same banding in the same frames/scenes, as it is expected with all clean anime, it's just that it is WAY more noticeable in the VIZ version. A good debanding filter or keeping the filesizes using the same bitrate & HQ settings that Toei is currently encoding Crystal at would do the job (Toei: 7GB-8GB per ep, Viz & Madman 3.8GB-4.8GB per ep)

Viz VS. Toei: http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/181844

Viz VS. Madman: http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/184335

Toei VS. Madman: http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/184413

There is a bit of macroblock in the VIZ version which isn't in the Madman or Toei versions. So, overall, Madman's version is in second place at the moment.

1. Toei
2. Madman
3. Viz/Kaze France/Kaze Germany

Need to get a hold of the Thai DVDs.

I initially wanted to get this Aussie release of the limited edition blu-ray/dvd combo pack from Madman since I live in Australia, so it would be more logical for me to get this Aussie release. But then I found out that the American release by Viz has better bonuses, so I decided to get the Viz release instead. Fortunately my dvd player can play all region coded dvds

The packaging has been revealed.

I honestly feel disappointed with how good this looks. The packaging looks so much more serious than that of the '90s release that I fear that curious people who don't know any better will walk into JB-Hifi, see it and pick it up over the original simply because it looks that much more enticing. Madman have outdone themselves.

That's a placeholder cover for sure, that's season 1 artwork. The date might be legit though. Sometimes foreign countries like Australia get to release stuff before the US. They did that a lot with Buffy and Charmed if memories serve.
