I'm guessing it started last week, I learned about it via another member. I'm just glad it's finally back after such a long time.

^Because Hulu has broadcast rights, this was confirmed by Toonami on their Preflight show back in June 2016 that they tried to get Crystal and were outbid by Hulu and considering that Viz posted the entire dub of season 3 on there (& Yahoo) back in October, not much has changed since.

But where could they air it? Crystal is that odd place, not a kid show, but not an adult show?
There are a lot of animated not-a-kids-show shows these days, though, so I don't think it would be all that out of place. It's a very different situation these days than it was when the old dub was airing.

That said, Cartoon Network is still around. Do they air any Funi series?

Adult Swim airs DBZz, attack on titan, and cowboy bebop. Still, those are all on adult networks sailor moon probably won't fit.

Sailor Moon Crystal is still more action oriented than other magical girl anime and there's a lot of guys that love Sailor Moon so I don't know that it would be all that out of place on Toonami . I mean the old school Toonami once aired Hamtaro of all things. Sailor Moon Crystal is much more closer to the spirit of the block than Hamtaro was.

^You can also make an argument for Tenchi since that was also out of place at the time yet it did pretty well on the old block.

GXP on the current Toonami was a different story but then again, it wasn't liked even when it originally came out.

In the long term, this actually is better overall than any network broadcast could be.

The TV landscape has changed considerably even since Sailor Moon Crystal was first announced. Within the past few years, streaming has replaced cable or even fixed media as the go-to for people to watch shows. Yes, people still watch TV and it will never go away completely, but at the same time the trend has been towards a tailored viewer experience.

It really doesn't matter if Sailor Moon comes on cable TV in the United States, because streaming is how people -- especially those who advertisers like to target -- watch TV now.

:? I can't think of a single magical girl anime that is less action-oriented that SMC. None of those I have watched fit your description. Were you thinking of a specific show when you said that?

The more people watch Crystal, the more fans there will be.
Are you sure about that? :P

I guess the Sailor Guardians transforming and using magic powers to fight bad guys in literally every episode doesn't count as action to some people.

That's the thing though. Being exposed to a TV show does not necessarily mean you will enjoy it and keep watching it and therefore become a fan.
This is purely anecdotal but in my general experience, most casual anime fans who haven't been exposed to Sailor Moon have generally been much more positively receptive to Crystal than the long time hardcore fans who are the only ones that care to argue about things like comparing character personality depictions between different versions or whether or not the ShinxSenshi pairings were a good idea. I mean Cartoon Network is airing Black Clover right now which seems to be doing well enough for them in spite of it's negative reputation among hardcore anime fans.

No, but if 100 new people watch the show, 15 don't like it and 20 are neutral, there are still 65 new fans.

I've noticed that as well - people who never got into the original series (because it's 200 episodes long and that's honestly a bit intimidating) tend to be just fine with Crystal.

At this point I think the biggest issue beside Hulu's exclusive streaming rights in preventing Sailor Moon Crystal from airing on Toonami is season four shifting to a movie format. But arguments Crystal doesn't have enough action for Toonami are purely subjective arguments that doesn't take into account the wide diversity in tastes of anime fans and ignores that Toonami themselves did in fact try to buy back Sailor Moon but they were merely outbid by Hulu, but clearly Toonami did have interest at some point in airing Sailor Moon again.
