I don't know if this has threaded before or if anyone else has found this, but...

I recently found VHS copies of PGSM for _rent_ (very cheaply, mind you) at an asian food store. They're all raw (with commercials!) and they were with a whole slew of other television shows (mostly drama, not anime). Anyway, thought that was crazy and that I'd share it with the forum community.

They seem to be a month behind or so and have up through Act 20.

Insanity.

Wow. But I guess it's not the official ones then right? I saw some PGSM toy+candy packs at Daiei today. I think it was a badge or something of Sailor Moon. I never knew Daiei had so many Japanese products! There are Japanese foods and candies everywhere. P-: Before, they sold those Sailormoon world mini figurines but they don't have it anymore.

Hah, judging by the timestamp in the corner and the lack of copyright warning, I'm guessing not official. It would be funny if it originated from the same person who provides the source for the net stuff. More probably someone who works there has some brother's uncle's sister's father's mother's friend who tapes it and sends it over.

I should ask them how they get their stuff. They specialize mostly in Korean video.

That's not unusual in Chinatown. They seem to sell really great blockbuster movies (in bad quality, of course) for about $5. I remember buying "Freaky Friday" in the summer and the quality, to my surprise, was decent. But all the rest of the fake DVDs held bad quality.

I even watched a VHS of "Big Daddy," and it wasn't that good.

I might be wrong with those PGSM videos, though. They might be better than I expect.

This is relatively common out here in Colorado. We even have "Asian Video Stores" where they rent out tv from "back home" on cheap vhs. :)

It's all labelled in Japanese/Chinese so it is kinda fun to go, grab a few disks and watch some completely random anime. :)

Of course, every once in a while it's badly taped hentai... *snicker*

i have been told by the son of a co-worker that in NYC's Chinatown, some anime/manga/comic stores have PGSM on VHS for sale at $5.00 a tape (3 acts per tape)!
Its true but there are 4 acts per tape and on the first tape there is even the making of PGSM special. I stopped buying tapes a long time ago from there, they take up too much space.

That place you're talking about: it's Octopus Garden, right? Or someplace else?

I don't know a lot of places uptown, so that's why I either try Chinatown or K-Town for them (I doubt K-Town has any).

Off-topic:

!! My name is M.C.Varmazi !! NOT McVarmazi! I am Greek, not Scottish~

Could you guys post some names of the stores where you've found them? I only know of Octopus Garden down in China Town and they say they only have the first 3 volumes available.

There's a Jasmart near NYU but I'm not sure where exactly. (To me anything below midtown is "near NYU xP").

Well, my real last name is Varmazis, but I drop the 's' because it marks me as female. It does sound pretty Italian as Varmazi but it's the technically correct way of writing 'Varmazis' for the women (Greek grammar be weird).

Then why didn't you get a family name like "Varmazopoulos" or something?

Oh well, figures.
Say what?? Varmazis IS my family name.
