Naoko is a huge figure skating fan. Her manga series before Sailor Moon was about figure skating. The figure skating episode of Classic was inspired by her love of the sport. When she first met Evgenia a few years back, she gave her an original illustration she made just for her. It is not surprising that Naoko would use figure skating poses in new cover illustrations. Maybe she was inspired by the ice show. Maybe she drew these covers with using them to promote the show in mind. (I mean, this franchise has never met a picture it didn't recycle ad nauseum.) But the idea that these illustrations were drawn *specifically* for the ice show and are now being used as cover art instead - especially because Naoko's "too lazy" to draw new ones - is absurd.

And like....yeah, the unfinished legs are really weird, but it's not exactly the first time Naoko's illustrations have featured unfinished bodies/legs/arms. It's just the first time the unfinished limbs have been so obvious.
Things don't become impossible just because you think they are impossible. Many "impossible" things have happened in my life, and with this franchise.
Just wait till the Outers' images and see what Naoko will do with their poses.

It should have been common sense for Kodansha to just crop the unfinished legs so that it wasn’t so jarring. It looks so amateur that they didn’t. And im still not over the fact that ANYBODY approved Sailor Moon’s anatomy. It makes no sense. It’s like her torso and legs are 2 different pictures. All it takes is a few seconds of photoshop to line it up properly.

Crystal proved that no one involved in this franchise understands how anatomy works.

If they had added a large light bubble in front of Mercury's knee instead of a tiny one, it would not have become so ridiculous.
And, what's the point of adding the Moon symbol on volume 1 but leaving nothing on volume 2? There should have been a planet, or Mercury's symbol... Hmm...

I'm pretty sure at some point in the future they will make it. For some two decades already Naoko and Toei successfully milked the franchise by selling us the same series in slightly different wrapping of remakes, retouches, reprints, reimagining, remasters, refreshes, and re-whatevers without making anything new. Selling the same manga, but colored, to the same people yet again at double or triple prices would quite fit into that strategy, and once again would save Naoko & Toei from the hassle of attempting to do anything new for yet another decade. So it's only a matter of time before they send a few manga volumes and a pack of color crayons to their freelance artists in Vietnam to prepare the new color manga release.
Another reprint of the Saailor Moon manga...in small format

Limited-color, full-color, remastered-color, pocket-edition-color, and digital-color releases are reserved for next few years.
Sailor Moon: Digital Manga Release

If Naoko was reading this thread now she would be laughing maniacally while honking her Ferrari's horn. Why, she was selling the same manga to the same people for over two decades through endless reprints, remakes, re-covers, re-whatevers without ever lifting a finger. And instead of getting sick due to having to pay for the same product, in a slightly different wrapping, again and again, her fans beg for more.
This fandom well deserved all the cheap and endless milking it got. No worries guys, I'm sure the color manga is coming in due time. ^_^
Thread in which Mara rants obsessively about Naoko (again)

Naoko is way too predictable. I knew this release was coming long before any official announcements. P-::P

Maybe she just drew the girls and Kodansha's responsible for the backgrounds and placement of the figures? It's definitely sloppy work, don't get me wrong - I just don't think it's indicative that this is recycled artwork.
Has anyone posted the ice-skating poses Naoko took inspiration from in this thread? Already saw them on Facebook.
It's obviously art originally meant to promote the cancelled/postponed ice show. Even before seeing the "source material" Naoko used for the posing, it seemed pretty obvious to me they were ice-skating in these arts.
And honestly? Skating poses? In covers of a major Sailor Moon manga release? What does one thing even have to do with the another?
Look, I have nothing against Naoko if she reached a point in life where she wants to do the minimum as possible and taking way too long to do what she chooses actually to, but this is just way too cheap. I REALLY think Kodansha would do much better retouching stuff from some 90s artwork collection and have it on the covers instead of this.

That's what I was worried about. Hopefully someone's able to work out how people outside Japan can get the ebooks, otherwise we'll have to resort to piracy.

Now I'm trying at 漫画・無料試し読みなら、電子書籍ストア BookLive! . Hope everything is OK.

I think you can make a fresh account, use a site like Fake Address Generator All Over the World - Fake Address, Random Address Generator to get a Japanese address and you should be able to buy it.
Even though you faked your address in Japan, when you login to the program to read, it will direct you to your location.

I'm going to try booklive or bookwalker (the latter may be a better bet)

They're using the revised Act 1 title page from the shinsoban:

Ikuko seems to have pinkish-brown hair:

I guess blood will be colored blue?

That's as far as the preview goes. I tried to buy it but it won't take my credit card or let me use PayPal as it seems to be restricted to Japan only WHICH IS BEYOND LAME.

From volume 2:

Even though all the backgrounds are pretty simple (i.e. most of them are just plain white), I'm still pretty happy with this colorization and can't wait to get my hands/hard drive on the full thing.

Well it is a monster dinosaur, so they can have fun with different colour blood. I'm assuming they'll do red whenever it's a human bleeding.

Most of the backgrounds in the original were plain white too, so this doesn't surprise me.

But yeah these look so good ♡ Hoping we get them in English someday. Thank you for sharing!
