^ She might've already been a gang leader before moving to the new school, & that could also be why she was kicked out from her old one. XD
Did Makoto ever actually get into fights at school in the original manga? I was always under the impression those were just rumors people made up about her because of stereotypes about her height but that in reality she was actually a very feminine girl. It seems like the only time you actually saw Makoto fought with other students was in the 90s anime but it seems like the manga and Crystal are more ambiguous about if she actually did get into trouble for fighting at her old school.
If those were just rumors, then consider that I believe in them, & I have more about her too. :twistedevil:

Well, if she did, I doubt that she would actually start a fight. At least not on purpose. She was probably defending someone. Remember how it was when she first met Usagi?

Even though the manga didn't flesh out the characters as well as the various shows, I love Makoto in it. While a lot of the characters got their personalities modified, Makoto has always been simultaneously a badass and yet not afraid to be a pro at classically feminine things.

Even though I love the sequence in the anime, I've always wondered why she has the antenna in her tiara. I mean, it looks awesome, but the other senshi just conjure whatever their element is on the spot. Why does she need to channel hers from the sky?

In the 70s anime Great Mazinger, the title giant robot also has a similar attack - it channels lightning from the sky via its gold-colored, antenna-like, & upward-pointing "ears" before releasing the bolts from its index finger. Wonder if Takeuchi has watched it in her younger days. lol

Maybe because it looks cooler that way.

Maybe. Then again, now that I think about it, Jupiter seems pretty sensitive to electricity in general. I mean, yeah, Mars has a spiritual sense, but it's not like she responds when something catches on fire in the distance. Jupiter reacts when there are things going wrong with electricity... like giving off static shocks when she's ill, or blacking out temporarily when the power went out in Tokyo. Her powers seem to be more aligned with Neptune and Uranus in that sense, the way they're always talking about the sea/wind being uneasy. Maybe she's just so aligned that she's capable of borrowing power, rather than purely relying on her own.

Jupiter does seem capable of conjuring her plant-based attacks at least. It seems to be more of electricity she has to channel.

In Crystal, Jupiter does supreme thunder in her debut, however she doesn't use the antenna when using supreme thunder in later episodes. She screams "supreme thunder" and the lightning comes from her hands similar to Raiden from Mortal Kombat.

Probably. A lot of Takeuchi's elements are influenced from her personal life experiences.

Did you know that the symbol for Jupiter GREATLY resmbles the number four, although it is open ended?

Examples:

That's exactly how I write a number 4 which only amplified my initial confusion upon seeing it.

Anyway, Jupiter is my favorite sailor and contender for my favorite fictional character of all time. She may be flawed but she's a far more interesting character for it.

Sailor Jupiter's planetary symbol (♃) stands for the Roman god's thunder bolt, an eagle or the Greek letter zeta (Z) for Zeus, the analogous to Jupiter. The difference between the symbol used in the Anime/Manga and the scientific symbol is, that the transforming sign is more likely to be shaped like an on the tip opened four (4).
In alchemy, tin used to be symbolized by ♃.
