I feel like she was significantly flanderized, especially in the episode where she thinks Chibi Chibi got candy from "Candy Land" and begs her mom to feed her, wtf? I mean...I'm reasonably certain Usagi should be capable of feeding herself? This was never a problem in any other season.

Not at all.

She is the same character she has always been.

As a warrior, she is actually more mature in Stars than in Classic. She sees Galaxia kill her appointed guardians, she does not give up, she doesn’t feel as hopeless as she did in Classic, and she saves Galaxia, the universe, and the planet completely on her own.

Ditto for the manga.

I think that episode was one of the most comedic in all of Stars and Usagi's behaviour was clearly not to be taken seriously

She's dumb and silly when she's allowed to be and serious when she needs to be. Just like in every other season.

People go on and on about how mature she was in the manga, but ignore the side chapters where she does things like ask who Einstein is.
