I thought Helios was immortal or something? Not sure where I picked up that tidbit, but I'm pretty sure he isn't the age he looks, at least.

Well actually WeirdRaptor Chibiusa and Helios were both around the same age. However I loved Chibiusa and Helios's romance. That was not one of the flaws of that season there were many other problems that made it my least favorite season.
Hmm, I'm not so sure about this. I was under the impression Helios was a teenager, whereas Chibiusa is a young girl, not even a pre-teen. She wants to be treated like a lady, and Helios does that...He doesn't treat her like a young girl and she likes that. He's also a lot taller than she is, and much more mature looking physically... he looks to be closer to Saturns age, and Hotaru is a bit older than Chibiusa, like around 12 or something like that. I mean, before saturn is turned into a baby. When I look at Naoko's character designs, they just don't look the same age at all..But anyways back on topic, I don't think classic is the weakest season.

Kerochan both Helios and Chibiusa looked to be kids atleast close to the same age. Helios was definitely a young boy.
Yeah, no. No, he most definitely was not. I've told you before not to state your PERSONAL OPINION as fact and use it to "correct" people.

I don't recall an age ever being given for Helios, but it's entirely possible that he'd been in Elysion since the fall of the Golden Kingdom, since the stuff he said implied that he seemed to remember it.

There were so many subplots, and I never particularly cared for the "rainbow crystal" saga.
The way I see it, the Rainbow Crystals were a better version of what the later seasons tried to repeat, since it was a treasure hunt that anyone could win, whereas after S you may start to realize that they're going to go through twenty duds before the plot can move forward again; they're not going to find what they need in some one-off character.

The same thing could be said for trying to bring back the mystique of Tuxedo Mask, first by R messing around with Tuxedo Mask himself to try to make him mysterious again. But at least that bothered to make up excuses for why he acted the way he did; later seasons seem to take new heroes who acted reasonably enough in the manga and turn them into jerks who refuse to explain themselves no matter if it would help their case, yet we're supposed to understand and take their side.

In my opinion, Classic is not the weakest..
SuperS is weak and Stars is weak as well in my opinion.

The ending to Classic owns on all others with only the S season coming close. The monsters were far more menancing in Classic, the story and items more varied, the classic characters more involved..Classic did Naru justice!

In my opinion, the other seasons are pretty much static clones of Classic with SuperS & Stars suffering dramatically. Both of these seasons didn't make much sense & went on for too long.

All seasons are enjoyable to me but in my opinion Classic is far from the weakest. The animation is a bit dated but its the SM most folks usually associate with the show.

Also, Tuxedo Kamen is seen being more involved. Just look how cool he is, he gives goofy speeches but still fights and in later seasons he just fades on out.

I think from strong to weak

Classic (Everything that makes up SM, a powerful ending to the season, nice plot twists to keep you involved, emotionalized villians, civilians and creepy youma. The art isn't spectacular, but the story is strong. The items are neat.. etc..SM completes the heroic journey.)

Super (A bit repetitive but with the Outers and stylistic villians, and great voice acting and Senshi focus, season was pretty good)

Romance (Not a bad season, the Hell Tree saga was interesting,)

Stars (The first few episodes of Stars and the last
few are great)everything in between, weak.

SuperS ...(Funny episodes and colorful art with stunning music, but very weak season still..)

Classic has its weaknesses, certainly. It can be awfully formulaic at times, some of the villains are quite bland, the main love interest spends way too much time being unlikeable, and there are more than a few flat-out terrible episodes. Also the creepy Naru-Nephrite "your abusive boyfriend loves you really!" thing.

But it also has good pacing, some really great episodes, and Zoisite. It's hard comparing the first season to later seasons, because the first season lays down the template for everything else, but I'd consider it one of the better seasons.

My ranking goes S>Classic>Stars>SuperS>R

And while I wouldn't agree that Classic is the worst season, most people don't agree with me that R is the worst season. All of the seasons have weaknesses, and I think it's often a case of how much those weaknesses happen to bother you.

Not sure how would I rank all five, but I like Classic, R and S a bit more than SuperS and StarS.

Classic, R, S, Stars, and then SuperS.
I do not like Chibiusa or the Breakup arc, which puts a big hamper on my enjoyment of the second season, but the alien filler episodes were genuinely entertaining.
S, well, I dont like Uranus or Neptune, so...
SuperS, I am not into unaged girl and horse steaminess, so... Also, the writing sucked and most of the villains were terrible. The Amazoness Quartet were awesome, though.
Sailor Stars, the Starlights can kiss my fleshy pink behind!

Basically, I am not a fan of any of the additions to the core cast with the only exceptions to that rule being Saturn and Pluto.

IMO, Classic is the best season, and also the season with the most epic finale.
I have to agree: no one knew quite yet where this franchise was going, so the first episodes are quite different from what became the standard "Sailor Moon episode" in later seasons. It does have a bunch of not so great episodes, especially after the Jadeite arc, but it's still solid. And yes, I find that final two-parter to be the best as well.

Kerochan he may have lived since the Golden Kingdom but he has the appearance of a young boy. Chibiusa is 900 years old but has the appearance and personality of a young child. The same seems to apply to Helios he definitely dosen't look like an adult.

Not to you, perhaps. I disagree. But those are both opinions, not facts, so please stop trying to pass off your personal interpretations of canon as canon facts.

I have a very hard time considering the first season to be the weakest because it is so compelling. It's the season that most of my friends and peers, particularly those who are not actually Sailor Moon fans, remember the most. It's not a particularly novel plot, but I feel like that kind of "accept your destiny and fight evil" story has always been appealing.

Sorry to bring this up again... But I took a little research on Helios and Elysion and I didn't know where else I could put this.
As we all know Elysion was the old capitol of the Golden Kingdom ruled by Endymion in the age of the Silver Millenium... And since Helios is bound to Elysion with his life like Endymion/Mamo-chan is to earth, he is very old.
I like to think of Elysion as something like the heart of earth... Since it seems to be inside there when Mamo-chan and Usagi get there to get healed and since they heal earth from there as far as I know.
So if Elysion is as old as the earth, Helios might be too.
That theory aside... Helios is as old as the Silver Millenium... and apart from Usagi and Mamoru he hadn't got a reincarnated form. He stayed himself since then (except the Pegasus-"curse" from Nehelenia)... so he is older than Chibiusa and in some way also older than Usagi and Mamoru. For me he always was an adult... also because his eyes seems to be so old and wise... (talking about manga and artbooks here)...

Back to topic... Since I only know or remember the first season of the 90s anime and the films I can't really say if it was the weakest... As a child I may have liked it, as an adult ... well I like it for what it was/is. The music was and still is good and the final battle was good I admit that... But since I don't like filler episodes that much... I could care less for all the filler episodes and I am constantly annoyed by those fights Usagi and Rei have... I just can't enjoy it, even if I like it for what it is.
I prefer the films but I wouldn't say that Classic was the weakest. Definitely not!

It was the one that started it all, and if I didn't love it, I wouldn't have seen any of the others.
