I know that most of you have probably already seen this video (maybe even a couple of times like me throughout he years), but I thought that it would be interesting to discuss if no one has made a thread on this already that is. Maybe you could talk about what you agree/disagree with, or discuss the certain YouTube comments that stick out to you, what you liked about the scenery, the voice actors’ position in all of this, or point out something that you’d like to be discussed, etc.

This video mainly talks about the relationship between TM &SM and Kelly Eden’s, a Youtuber who does a couple of Sailor Moon videos, thoughts about versus the Viz English dub voice actors Robbie Daymond and Stephanie Sheh.

I think the manga has the best portrayal of Usagi and Mamoru's relationship but their antagonistic relationship is the standard love/hate relationships you see in like 90% of all fiction that depicts romance. Whether it's Han/Leia, Catherine and Heathcliffe, or Sakura and Syaoran, it's a common trope in fiction to create romantic drama and tension by having the main character and their romantic interest be at odds with each other to make the plot more exciting. My biggest overall issue with the anime is changing Mamoru's age up for no reason, how Usagi begins to develop feelings for Mamoru feels less rushed and more natural in the manga than the anime to me, and the infamous breakup plot was just poorly executed filler in to pad out the season. But in regards to the overall love/hate relationship angle of Usagi and Mamoru, I do think it's a bit unfair to hold Sailor Moon accountable for following the same romantic drama tropes the majority of fictional works follow, unless we also hold those other fictional works to the same accountability. I will say I do respect Kelly Eden for her creativity and I love her videos a lot.
