Actually it was never said that the feelings were reciprocated it was just said that she liked him. Personally I liked the whole Venus/Ace relationship much better.
The "Venus/Ace relationship" consisted of him stalking her and eventually becoming evil in order to pursue her. I'm...not sure what about that relationship is worthwhile. :eeklez:

I never said it wasn't canon.
You said that it was "forced and convenient" in the manner of fan fiction. But if it's in the world Naoko created, it's in the world Naoko created, even if you think it's "convenient".

Isn't it convenient that Usagi just HAPPENS to trip over Luna? Or that she just HAPPENS to throw her test and hit Mamoru? Convenience is a useful plot device.
Perhaps I came across too ambiguously. I wasn't trying to equate the Shitennou x Guardian coupling with fan fiction, more so, I was making the point that, it comes across as very tacked on and under developed- which is reminiscent of some fan fiction, where random characters are paired up just for the sake of it. So I'm not saying it's not (manga) canon, I'm saying the concept strikes me as something that fans would make up.

It's convenient in the sense that it's one group of four females matched with one group of four males under the leadership of the main female/male protagonists. It's not used as a plot device anywhere, it just wraps thing up neatly and perfectly. Too perfect for my liking, which is why I would prefer Kunzite x Zoicite or Venus never finding a lover as she is cursed/bound to duty, as these are relationships/ideas which I find less conventional and less often explored.

I think the idea was that all the characters were all about to have a perfect life, their own wonderland. Until it was destroyed by evil. Besides we all know these relationships aren't going anywhere, since the Guardians are bound to Usagi for eternity.

As I said, the whole Guardians and Generals romance was just a general background on how life was perfect for everyone before it was all destroyed.

i don't think Kunzite/Zoisite added more to their characters because honestly i don't think of their anime counterparts even being the same characters. :P i MUCH prefer manga Zoisite especially.
and of course it seemd tacked on and underdeveloped, she never got a chance to add it in and develop it. i understand thinking it would be "too perfect" but in defense of the author, we don't know how forced it might have been or how awesome it might have been too since she never got to do more than one promo picture.

Their Anime selves aren't really that different from their Manga selves. Really the only difference is that their Anime selves were more developed as characters and had more personality then their Manga selves.

Except they left out their entire back story, that they were once Edymion's protectors and they were brainwashed by Queen Beryl.

Well there is nothing saying that their back story as Endymion's protectors does not apply to the anime canon as well. In fact I believe in some anime supplementary materials they are referred to as such. What I mean is that personality wise the Shittenou were much more developed in the anime then in the manga. Sadly the Silver Millennium stories for these characters though was left unexplored.

^^ Probably just more of a cultural thing than anything else.

Italian mafia kingpins show (respect and friendliness) affection by kissing one another on the forehead...

Zoisite clinging too Kunzite as a younger inexperienced follower is not too much of a stretch. The whole head on the shoulder situation in the manga did add depth to their characters and showed that Zoisite deeply admired Kunzite...in a way similar to how Makoto admired Haruka.

Also, the younger laying his head on his role model is not odd too me...It's like a human pillow of comfort. Like having your little brother or sister lay on your shoulder.

I still say that two military men sitting together in that fashion is very unusual. :orly:
It's okay, they said "no homo" before sitting down.

Which chapter did that scene appear in again?
Act 6 - Tuxedo Mask of the reprint manga. :) There was a similar scene in chapter 7 as well. (they weren't sitting together in that one though. Kunzite just came behind Zoisite to look at the screen he was looking at with him.)
Ah, thank you! I was hoping it was a bit sooner but I guess thats not too long to wait. We'll see if it makes it in, and whether it carries any particular connotation when in motion.

Not a problem at all, it stood out in my memory of my recent read thanks to all the discussion about it. :smug: Yeah, there will still be a bit of a wait sadly, but it shouldn't be too long at least. I think the odds of seeing it are pretty likely too, with how Crystal hasn't been leaving out. Context is a bit harder to say since Usagi's heart eyes with Rei didn't get much explanation, but then again with that being one of their scenes together I do imagine they'll try to give us a taste of what their relationship is like.
