Okay, I've listened to both La Soldier and Sailor War, and frankly, I must say I wish they'd used Sailor War instead of La Soldier for the ending of R. I know, both were in the musicals and La Soldier was used in the anime, but does anyone else think Sailor War should have been used. I prefer Sailor War over La Soldier. I think it's one of my favorite songs in the entirety of Sailor Moon. While La Soldier was cool, but I'd prefer Sailor War.

Anybody else agree with me?

I have listened to both songs, and I actually I like La Soldier a lot better and it was good for them to use it as the song in R. Sailor War on the other hand, works for sailor stars because it fits the image of the senshi fighting a war, a war amongs themselves and with Galaxia thrown into the mix, it makes it more tragic. :)

La Soldier all the way! I thought Sailor War was one of the most boring songs in the musicals  And besides they can't do that magic foot thing (You know in the musical where they do that riverdance-like thing while singing "anata kara no aino MoonLight") In Sailor War now can they :D But back on topic I think La Soldier is a better song for the ending of R.

I downloaded the Sailor War from this La Soldier album on Sailor Music and I really like it! This may be going on, but I did a bit of cut and apply in Premiere to see what the ending (japanese) of R would look like. If anyone wants to see it, I can send the file via AOL Instant Messenger...I don't have a site so I can't upload it, but if anyone would like to see, please PM me.

Versions of Sailor War

Maybe you should clarify which Sailor War style you're talking about. There's a rock version that was never used in the musical (although it very well should have been), and there's the march version that's been overused in the musicals.

I do believe you're talking about the rock version, and in that case, I just wish it was used anywhere. You won't hear it any other place except on that album (someone want to correct me on that?).

Edited because I'm on crack...and "havebeen" isn't a word.

Decide in your heart when it's time to fight

Here, this is the page that you can download it on Sailormusic.net. It's the very first thing on there, bonus tracks (it's a single). http://sailorgalaxy.vortx.net/michelle/bonus_tracks/bonus_singles.html

That's the song I'm talking about.
Yup, it's the version I was thinking of. I do agree this would've made a great final battle song--what with talking about dark clouds and the fires of hatred. During the instrumental bridge you can almost imagine the soldiers calling on their planets' powers. Plus it's got a big ending to the song, right?

Well, as much as I think this would be cool, La Soldier did the job for me. I don't know. I would've been happy with either, I guess.

On a different note, I think I was wrong though in saying that you could only find the track on the Single. It's also on the first Memorial Album of the Musical.

I prefer La Soldier over the original Sailor War, and Sailor War '94 over La Soldier...

Mmmm...Sailor War would have worked better for the ending of R, that's true. But as song, I like a lot better La Soldier over Sailor War. It could have been great in another ending...such as Classic or Stars...

I wouldn't really call "Sailor War Supreme" a version of "Sailor War". It has elements of the earlier song, but it also has elements from all sorts of other songs. It's no more a version of "Sailor War" than it is a version of "Chasin' After You".

Anyway, I don't know if I really have an opinion one way or another, as I love both songs. "La Soldier" is fun and upbeat, and the fact that it can be played in every single musical without people getting bored with it certainly says something. "Sailor War" has a darker, more badass sound, which really sets a different mood.

Re: Decide in your heart when it's time to fight

I agree that the version of Sailor War that was offered for download was good, and should be used... but I think for R and the scene they picked La Soldier worked fine. No use worrying about it now.

I think Sailor War would've been a more appropriate ending for Stars than R, due to the subject matter of the last season. However, I'm far too fond of Kaze mo Sora mo Kitto to get rid of it.

It's been a while since I've seen the last episode of R...but...that rock version of Sailor War would probably have been pretty nifty in La Soldier's place. I always liked that version of Sailor War, and wondered why it was never used in the musical. They put it on the soundtrack for the Dark Kingdom musical...but it wasn't actually IN it. *scratches head in confusion*
