Here's a tracklist for the first R Sound Drama Collection, and one for the second. Anyone care to translate the track names? They look intriguing.

That same site has the tracklist for the third Classic Sound Drama Collection as well, but already translated into English. It sounds like it's a story that takes place between the Classic finale and the first episode of R.

ETA:

Amazon Japan has the first R Sound Drama CD for about $56 USD (which is a little rich for my blood). Google translates the title as "The Return of Ail and En! Activate the Dreams of the Pretty Soldiers in Reality!" so I'm guessing it's a sequel to the Doom Tree arc. It appears there may be previews of the tracks available but when I click on the play arrows I just get a pop-up saying to install Flash.

The third Classic drama CD is also available (for around $250!!!). The second R drama CD ("Pretty Soldiers Running Time" according to Google) is sadly unavailable.

Unless some generous Moonie out there has or buys these CDs and uploads them, it seems like we'll have to wait for them to hopefully be re-released in order to hear them.

Via Google Translate, here's the tracklist of the first R audio drama:

1. Prologue
2. Sailor Moon's Play at the Cultural Festival!?

"Pretty Soldier Sailor Mars R" - 1st Midnight Romantic Date After a Rain of Osmanthus Fragrance

3. Corner Title Call
4. Rei's Thoughts
5. Let's Protect the World of Love and Romance!
6. Sailor Mars Transforms!
7. Omake Corner - Rei's Wake Up Call

"Pretty Soldier Sailor Venus R" - ACT 1 Elegy Dedicated to a Friend Disappearing at Dawn

8. Corner Title Call
9. Galactic Brothers, Take Hostage!
10. Detective Aphrodite Appears!

24. Omake Corner - Mamoru's I'm Fine Now Call

25. Epilogue
26. Omake Corner - Usagi's Good Night Call
27. Ending

Based on these titles, my guess is this sound drama collection takes the form of the four Inners and Tuxedo Mask each pitching a pilot episode for their own "R" seasons (or something along those lines), with Rei doing a romantic drama, Minako a detective show, Mako some kind of competition series, Ami a science talk, and Mamoru doing...something. I do like the name for his segment though, and I LOVE that they used the title of Naoko's college thesis for Ami's segment.

ETA: And here's the tracklist for the second R audio drama:

1. Prologue
2. The Four Ayakashi Sisters' Hideout

3. Edo Era Phase: A Murder Case at the Hikawa Shrine! Chief Usagi Appears!
4. Edo Era Phase: Dark Worker Team - On behalf of the Moon, You'll Be Punished!
5. Edo Era Phase: The "Champions of Justice" Appear

6. Greek Hot Springs Phase: Shampoo Saleswoman
7. Greek Hot Springs Phase: Mamoru and Artemis, Delighted at Mixed Bathing Hot Springs
8. Greek Hot Springs Phase: Sailor Soldiers Gather at the Hot Springs

9. Cassette Gymnastics 1

10. Heian Era

11. Wild West Phase: The Four Rough Sisters Stand in the Church
12. Wild West Phase: Introducing Sheriff Mamoru
13. Wild West Phase: Petz, Sheriff - Love at First Sight!?
14. Wild West Phase: Everyone Enters!
15. Wild West Phase: Usagi vs Petz Battle

16. Year 23XX Phase: Great Decisive Battle in Pluto's Orbit
17. Year 23XX Phase: Huge Robo Black Moon vs Sailor Robo
18. Year 23XX Phase: Final Showdown

19. Epilogue
20. Ending

Sounds like this sound drama collection might involve the Sailor Soldiers chasing the Ayakashi Sisters/Black Moon throughout time, having various adventures in the Edo era, a Greek hot springs, the wild west, and the year 23XX (in space/on Pluto, no less!). This sounds super interesting as well. A giant robot space battle? A wild west episode? Petz/Mamoru/Usagi love triangle? Mamoru and Artemis being pervy bros? I need to listen to this (with a translation) someday...

Some of the stories seem interesting. I especially like the one with the girls disguising themselves as boys and the character of Senda Haitaro the nice gay boy. However I absolutely loathed the story about the Mamoru's heart story which honestly completely assassinated his character and not only that is completely out of his character. His love for Usagi was one of the driving points of his character and portraying him as just an amoral cad is contradictory to his very nature as a character not just in the 90s anime but in all of the canons. I imagine that Naoko Takeuchi probably hated this story as well. I could honestly see her suing Toei if they actually tried to make this story canon. Honestly maybe there is some truth to the rumor that certain members of Toei hated Mamoru's character. This story was simply disgusting and an insult to Mamoru's canon personality and deep love for Usagi.
I'm not a fan of the story either, but given Chibiusa's Picture Diary #4, I think it's safe to say Naoko herself envisions Mamoru as a bit of a perv/cad:

I'd love to hear a review of the Unnatural Phenomenon audio cassette. @MementoNepenthe
There isn't much to review since it's just the audio from that episode with some narration voiced by Kathy Coon (who???) added on. I don't know why they picked this episode (it would have been nice if they'd picked one with Jupiter and Venus in it, or at least Beryl and Molly) and I think they should have had one of the regular voice actors do the narration (the actress who played Serena's mom and Sailor Neptune would have been a good choice, or why not use the guy who narrated the start of episode one and the first episode of R?). I also think adding "She's Got the Power" to the end of the cassette is a bit odd, but I guess no other song would have quite worked. Still, the narration is well-written and I wish they'd done more of these.

Anyway, I've transcribed the narration:

* * * * *

"Join Sailor Moon and the Sailor Scouts as they fight injustice and battle against Queen Beryl's soldier, Neflite, and the evil parallel dimension, the Negaverse."

"Raye, Serena, and Amy are taking a walk in Fairview Park. Looking out over the lake, Raye turns to the other two girls and says..."

"The girls come upon Mr. Baxter, the head gardener of Fairview Park, who is planting some beautiful flowers."

"Nearby, Luna, Sailor Moon's guardian cat, is on her way to meet the Scouts at the Game Center, one of their favorite hangouts. As Luna crosses the street, a speeding truck comes out of nowhere. Suddenly, the Scouts' friend Darien darts out in front of the oncoming truck, scoops up Luna, and carries her to safety. Serena arrives and sees Darien holding Luna."

"Far from Serena and her friends, Neflite, Beryl's evil soldier of the Negaverse, is looking for guidance from the stars, planning whom he can torment next."

"Back at the Game Center, Andrew and Raye are getting acquainted."

"Raye's so excited, she falls off her chair."

"Back at the park, Mr. Baxter's thinking out loud when Neflite, appearing to be a friendly young man, approaches."

"Neflite extends his icy cold hand to Mr. Baxter's forehead, transforming the gentle gardener into a menacing, hateful man."

"The sounds of the heavy bulldozers destroying the park enrage Mr. Baxter. Seething with hate, the gardener is now under Neflite's evil spell, ready to do whatever Neflite wants."

"With that command, a mass of swarming butterflies attacks the construction crew working in the park."

"From a distance, the evil Neflite observes the havoc he is creating. He is pleased."

"Outside the Game Center, Raye is imagining what the perfect encounter with Darien could be like."

"Raye wakes up from her daydream."

"Raye is so excited, she trips and stumbles into Darien."

"Serena and Luna can't help but watch from across the street."

"Raye's not going to let Darien get away that easily!"

"Serena and Luna follow Raye and Darien to the ice cream shop. Serena watches them through the window, but can't hear their conversation."

"As Serena spies on Raye and Darien, Melvin, who has a big crush on Serena, walks up to her. Serena gets the unsuspecting Melvin to help her spy on Raye and Darien."

"Serena and Melvin follow Raye and Darien to the lake while Luna joins Amy in Mr. Baxter's garden."

"Meanwhile, Mr. Baxter is meeting with the head of the construction project."

"As the man walks away, he carelessly throws his burning cigarette on the ground. With that, a group of zombie-like squirrels under Neflite's evil control attack the man."

"Out on the lake, Raye and Darien are enjoying their boat ride."

"From the shore, a jealous Serena spies on Raye and Darien while a love-struck Melvin gazes at Serena."

"Melvin doesn't notice that Serena quietly leaves to join Amy and Luna."

"It's Mr. Baxter, but he appears to be very angry."

"Zapping the energy from Mr. Baxter, Neflite transforms the gardener into the evil witch, Petsasos, leaving a lifeless Mr. Baxter on the ground."

"Amy takes her transformation wand from her pocket and raises it to the sky. Wrapping herself in its glowing ribbon, the power of her planet is released, transforming Amy into Sailor Mercury."

"With these words, Serena's locket releases her heavenly powers. Glowing with energy, Serena's special tiara appears, transforming her into Sailor Moon."

"Back on the rowboat, Darien is feeling that something's not right."

"Under orders from Petsasos, the birds from the park attack Raye and Darien in the rowboat, causing it to tip over."

"With these words, Sailor Mercury sprays Petsasos with her foam bubbles, temporarily blinding the witch."

"Petsasos throws a grenade of wild vines that explodes, coiling around Sailor Mercury."

"From their capsized boat, Raye and Darien swim to the pier."

"Raye believes that her fellow Scouts may be in trouble."

"Sailor Mercury struggles as hard as she can to loosen the vines."

"These words trigger a huge fireball from Sailor Mars, who has transformed from Raye."

"Petsasos prepares to shoot two pollen grenades at the Scouts, when suddenly a red rose falls from the trees on top of Petsasos, causing the pollen grenades to disappear. Sailor Moon looks up to see where the mysterious rose fell from."

"From atop a tall tree, Sailor Moon's ally, Tuxedo Mask, is there to give support to the Scouts."

"As she says these words, Sailor Moon takes the glowing tiara from her head and hurls it at Petsasos, vaporizing her...and breaking Neflite's curse on nature."

"Mr. Baxter wakes up, dazed from the horrible experience."

"Sailor Moon and the Sailor Scouts hope you'll join them again soon for more fun and adventures."

* * * * *

The Negaverse is described as a "parallel dimension," which is consistent with how it's described elsewhere. I think it's interesting that Petsasos is called a witch rather than a monster or an alien, and that they say "Game Center" instead of arcade. And I love how the transformations and attacks are described.

I just listened to the third Classic audio drama, “Prelude to Romance” since the premise sounded interesting and I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed it despite my incredibly limited grasp of Japanese.

Unlike the other ‘90s anime audio dramas, it’s not filled with meta gags and it’s a pretty serious drama that’s even emotionally affecting. It’s divided in two sections. Moon Prism Memory takes place between the last episode of Classic and first episode of R. Prior to regaining her memories, it’s revealed that Usagi has reoccurring dreams about D-Point. She seems to also remember the initials “MC” which she tells Naru must be her prince. During the day, Usagi bumps into Makoto, Ami, Rei and Minako individually and we get flashbacks to their deaths at D-Point. What’s great is that Usagi’s lines were re-recorded by Mitsuishi Kotono who underwent surgery during the Dark Kingdom finale. Interestingly, Rei still seems to be dating Mamoru prior to regaining her memories.

The second part, entitled Endymion, takes place at some point during the Ail and En arc. Endymion ends up in the present time due to the Silver Crystal and Usagi doesn’t want to him to go back to the past because he is destined to die. It was a little harder to understand this section due to it being a bit more exposition heavy so it would be interesting to have a translation. There’s also a scene where Endymion meets Princess Serenity for the first time and it’s revealed that the first thing he noticed about her is her hair...Which is interesting considering that’s similarly the first thing Mamoru notices about Usagi.

Definitely a great side story and I think the original anime should have spent more time with the senshi before they regained their memories.

Thanks for summarizing it for us! It sounds really interesting, especially the Endymion part. Would have loved to see that animated. Hopefully TuxedoUnmasked or MissDream or someone will do a full translation.

Having generally just listened to songs from the series on YouTube, I didn't realize that some of the music albums also had audio drama components to them, so I thought we could discuss those here as well.

The "Ai wa Doko Ni Aru No?" ("Where Can Love Be Found?") album, which came out during the first season (specifically between episodes 16 and 17), is one such example, containing some dialog parts at the beginning or end of most of the tracks. These dialog parts are simply conversations between Usagi and Luna, or between Usagi and Tuxedo Mask, but they're interesting nonetheless.

The booklet for the album doesn't contain a transcript of the dialog, so it seems someone wrote one up by ear. I can't vouch for its accuracy (and I did notice some things didn't seem to be correct), but comparing it to the wonky translation floating around, I did notice a few minor issues, so here's my "cleaned up" version:

TRACK 2.
Usagi:

Well, well, well. I'm Usagi Tsukino, I'm 14, and I'm in 9th grade. I'm a Cancer and my blood type is O. My birthstone is the pearl. The pearl was formed when a drop of water fell from the body of Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty, and solidified. That must be why I have such a pure and beautiful heart and body! I'm a bit more scatterbrained than most people, and I'm kind of a crybaby, too.
One day, a strange black cat named Luna appeared, turned me into a sailor-suited soldier, and told me to fight bad guys. What a bother!
So there you have it. I’m a love-prone junior high student. A young girl who dreams of falling in love. Tee-hee-hee. Actually, lately I've had this feeling that some truly spectacular love is gonna come my way soon.

Luna:
Usagi, you shouldn’t be spending your time on childish fantasies. You have a mission to fight against the monsters sent by the Dark Kingdom, remember?

Usagi:
Oh, Luna, you're such a spoilsport. And anyway, there's no way I can fight an enemy I know nothing about. I'm just an ordinary girl. I want to get dressed up, fall in love. Besides, I still have a ton of studying to do.

Luna:
Oh really, Usagi? I thought you didn’t like to study.

Usagi:
Ha, ha, ha, shut up. These precious days of youth will never come again, and there are still so many things I want to do. That's why I don't have a moment to waste.

Luna:
You sure sleep a lot for someone without a moment to waste.

Usagi:
Ooooooh, I hate you, Luna!

TRACK 3.
Usagi:

There's a bunch of Western-style clothes I wanna get right now. Like a pure white blouse with a pink jacket to go with something in a dark color. Would that wholesome, all-American casual look suit me? Hee-hee.
Or a frilled, pastel-colored blouse and skirt matched set. Something cute and girlish like that would be perfect. Sigh. And, and, what about an antique sweater and a cute floral pattern gathered skirt when I transform? Mmm.
That rock-'n-roll fifties look is even cooler. I'm always on the alert for whatever the latest thing is; I just love to look sharp. Tee-hee. I wonder what style I should try? Hmmm, I can't make up my mind.

Luna:
Usagi, getting dressed up isn't just about what clothes you wear. You know what I mean, right?

Usagi:
Huh? There's more to dressing up?

Luna:
Of course, Usagi, didn’t you know? A girl’s skin condition is very different in the summer than it is in the winter. In summer, your skin secretes a lot of sweat and oils and gets very sticky. Because you're more active than usual, your body produces a lot of those oils, and you end up with pimples.
During winter, on the other hand, the cold northern winds blow against your skin, making it very dry. That’s why in the summer, your makeup should be very light, and in the winter, it should be a little on the oily side.

Usagi:
Wow, wow, wow! Luna, for a cat, you sure know a lot.

Luna:
Don’t underestimate me just because I’m a cat. I’m a girl too, you know. I'm fashion conscious and incredibly beautiful. But to really dress up, you have to do more than just take care of your skin and coordinate your clothes.

Usagi:
Huh? There's more?

Luna:
Of course. The most important things for a girl to always remember are her kind heart and elegant disposition.

Usagi:
Elegant disposition?

Luna:
Bingo! That’s the one condition that makes for a princess.

TRACK 4.
Usagi:
Pink cosmoses are best suited for doing love readings with flowers. Picking off the petals one by one, he loves me, he loves me not, he loves me, he loves me not, he loves me, he loves me not... Hmm... Seems today's reading ended on "he loves me not" again.
Flower reading, astrology, tarot card reading, physiognomy, palm reading, fortune drawing... There are all kinds of fortune-telling techniques in the world, but my love predictions always come out duds. Maybe I should try a different method. Like, hmmm, water divination. That's done by taking a leaf and setting it adrift on a river. If the leaf floats, your future will be good.
Oh yeah, there's a way of predicting things with coffee, too. You pour some cream into your coffee cup and if the cream moves toward you, something good will happen soon. But if the cream forms a face, that means there's a rival who'll show up soon to make things tricky for you. Is my rival in love Ami or Rei?

Luna:
No matter what, Usagi always ends up lovelorn.

Usagi:
In any case, my crushes always go unrequited!

Luna:
Don’t give up, Usagi. There are times when a rival turns into the greatest of friends. They become one of the team.

Usagi:
Right! Ami and Rei are both my wonderful friends.

TRACK 5.
Usagi:
If my best friend and I ever fall in love with the same person, what'll I do? The closer we are as friends, the greater the risk of hurt will be. If one of us moves ahead with that love, the other will definitely get hurt.

Luna:
What are you doing, getting all worked up while taking a bath? The one to get hurt by having her heart broken hasn't been decided yet.

Usagi:
Ack! Luna, who do you mean by that?!

Luna:
Never mind that! Usagi, you sure are flat-chested, huh?

Usagi:
What?! That's none of your business!

Luna:
Ack! That water was freezing! Usagi, you're so mean! I'm soaking wet now!

Usagi:
I'll show you how scary I can be when I get angry! Nothing's more dreadful than when a girl holds a grudge against someone!

Luna:
Eek! Usagi, you're even scarier than those monsters from the Dark Kingdom.

TRACK 6.
Usagi:
A girl’s jealousy is such an ugly thing. As for me, I want to live a more refreshing life. A while back, I was taught an exercise called “Oashisu” (Oasis).

Luna:
“Oashisu” exercise? What’s that?

Usagi:
Um, the “O” in “Oashisu” is for “Ohayou” ("Good Morning"). The “A” in “Oashisu” is for “Arigato” ("Thank you"). The “Shi” in “Oashisu” is for “Shiawase desu ka?” ("Are you happy?) The “Su” in “Oashisu” is for “Sumimasen!” ("I’m sorry!")

Luna:
I see. I see. Good morning; thank you; are you happy?; I’m sorry - taking the first letter of each phrase gives spells out "Oashisu," right?

Usagi:
You got it! Good morning. Thank you. Are you happy? I’m sorry. All are refreshing greetings. That’s the kind of girl I want to be.

TRACK 7.
Usagi:
Tuxedo Mask. Each time you throw a red, red rose, you look like a suave gentleman. Looking over your shoulder, your mask hiding your gaze. Your departing gesture, your cape fluttering like something out of a foreign movie. I don't know why, but, one by one, these details add up to a picture of you as someone warm and tender. Before I realize it, my cheeks flush and my heart feels like it's being squeezed. I wonder if this is love? In my dreams, Tuxedo Mask and I kiss for the first time.
Someone told me that there are all sorts of kisses. When being kissed, if it’s on the top of the hand, it’s a kiss of respect. If it’s on the forehead, it’s a kiss of friendship. If it’s on the cheek, it’s a kiss of love. If it’s on the eyelid, it’s a kiss of admiration. If it’s on the palm of your hand, it’s a kiss of promise. And, and also, if it’s on the lips, it's a kiss of desire. A girl is awakened when the person she loves kisses her for the first time.

Mamoru:
Lips are not only meant for talking. Lips are also meant for remembering the love two people share.

Usagi:
Ahhh! Tuxedo Mask!

Luna:
Usagi! Stop daydreaming!

Usagi:
Jeez, Luna! I was in a really romantic mood! Luna, you're just a cat, so you'll never understand what it's like when a girl's immersed in a romantic mood!

Luna:
Hold on a minute! I'm a girl, too, you know. I'm really interested in finding true love. But right now, for the sake of our important mission, I've been holding back!

TRACK 8.
Usagi:
Oh no, oh no! This isn't the time to be singing a song! Luna, there’s a black cloud in the sky!

Luna:
I have a bad feeling about this!

Usagi:
Oh no, oh no! I’m scared! There’s a creepy feeling in the air! No! Help!

Luna:
Usagi, don't run away! You have to fight the monster with Ami and Rei!

Usagi:
No, no! I don’t wanna do anything scary! Ami, turn into Sailor Mercury! Rei, turn into Sailor Mars! Start fighting! As for me… I'm scared, so see ya!

Luna:
Freeze, Usagi! You're the sailor-suited pretty soldier, Sailor Moon! Be brave and fight!

Usagi:
But, but, I’m scared! Waaaaah!

TRACK 9.
Usagi:
Bullies, troublemakers, thugs, bad guys. I hate them! I can’t forgive anyone who makes a girl cry. I may be a crybaby, but I don’t cry all the time! In the name of the moon, I’ll punish you! Moon Tiara Action!

Mamoru:
How beautiful. A kind-hearted girl is so beautiful. But what's even more beautiful is a girl who never loses heart in the heat of battle. Sailor Moon. Together, we'll find the Mystical Silver Crystal I've been searching for.

Usagi:
Tuxedo Mask! I'll unravel every riddle and find the Silver Crystal! And for just a teeny bit, I'll forget about food, about makeup, about fashion, about romance, all to fight for love and justice!
* * *
Usagi:
Waaaaahh! I can’t do this after all! About eating, about makeup, about fashion, about romance! I can’t forget about them! After all, I'm only a 14 year old, ninth grade girl! Eheh! But still…!

My thoughts on the above audio drama:

- Usagi's mentioning of the pearl's mythological origin story anticipates A's "ad libbed" recitation of the same in the penultimate chapter of the Sailor V manga, further reinforcing the sense of connection between Usagi and Minako.

- I'd love to see Usagi in a rock-'n-roll fifties look.

- Luna's being a fashion conscious makeup expert is interesting; wouldn't mind seeing more of that side of her.

- The mention of pink cosmoses makes me wonder if there's any link between Sailor Cosmos and the cosmos flower. Hmm...

- Usagi sure does know a lot about fortune-telling techniques. I guess she is an occult otaku after all.

- This audio drama acts like Usagi has had a ton of unrequited loves, but at this point in the series, I feel like we only ever saw her crushing on Motoki and Tuxedo Mask. I wonder whom else she's had a crush on. Her apparent penchant for being unlucky in love also further connects her with Minako.

- Usagi's discussion of the different kinds of kissing anticipates her conversation with Haruka and Michiru in episode 94.

All-in-all, this was a cute little ~audio drama~. What do you guys think?

It's interesting to see the audio dramas, some are good, some bad. If the first two parts of the S audio drama had been made into episodes, it no doubt would have been the most hated episodes of S nowadays, Cloverway would have trouble trying to edit it, I don't know which is more cringeworthy, that or the homophobic portrayal of this guy named Chris from Venus Wars (who was actually voiced by Saphir), who actually served no purpose in an otherwise pretty good film:

They even had to put this in:

Episode 96 didn't give me any homophobic vibes or anything, nor that thing in the R movie even, there's even a part where either Rei or Minako or whoever mentioned about how there was a gay couple at her school.

Desert Island is pretty funny though I'd rather have had the Sailors also try to survive on the island in a Gilligan's Island type of fashion or something, trying to build huts, gather food, etc., maybe fight some monsters or something. It would have been a good short for the S movie too, yes.

Part 4...that's too weird, character assassination for Mamoru (as if the character assassination for Haruka in part 2 wasn't enough) and the real Toei Animation from the 1990's either would have pulled it into a more professional shape, scrapped it or talked the others out of it.

Part 5 is funny, though how would Moon be able to attack with her Healing Escalation and Princess Halation? Then again it's probably like one of those SD parodies...

Unfortunately, the S radio drama's mediocre for me, only two out of the five segments sound good, most of them just aren't very good, are dated or they come off like bad fanfictions and like something I'd read in a bad doujinshi or something. :blue:

Prelude to Romance sounds really good, but why would Rei still be dating Mamoru at that point? Either way, I'd want to animate the three good ones so far. The bad ones I do not count as canon to the original Sailor Moon anime. AT ALL.

I personally didn't find the one of the girls infiltrating the boys school with Senda Haitaro to be homophobic. Sure the Senshi made some gay jokes but I don't think that they were mean spirited or homophobic. Really no different then what you would see on a show like Family Guy. Plus Senda was actually portrayed as being a good character. I do think the one of Haruka freaking out at the thought of working at a gay bar makes no sense and is homophobic though.

The ~In Another Dream~ album features monologues from Usagi, Ami, Rei, Makoto, Minako, and Mamoru. There really isn't much to say about these because they're just really short musings from these characters about their love lives.

I will say that Ami's monologue is frustrating to me, both because it really reinforces the idea of Urawa as her dream guy/soulmate, yet we never see or hear of him again after season 1, and because it just really reinforces how incredibly redundant Neptune is later on. And I get that at this point, Sailor Neptune didn't exist so they didn't need to consider how to handle having two water-themed protagonists, but the franchise *still* uses sea imagery with Ami/Mercury and it just doesn't make any sense. Instead of beaches, she should be connected with snow-capped mountains; instead of swimming, Ami's sport of choice should be skiing. At the very least associate her with running water (rivers, streams, etc) instead of seas/lakes/oceans. Do SOMETHING to differentiate the water imagery associated with her from that associated with Neptune.

Similarly, I like the mention in Makoto's monologue of her having a favorite tree (I think that's cute and I would have loved to have seen more of her out in the woods, communing with nature), but then Minako's monologue is also inexplicably set in a forest, robbing the two of them of their individuality. But I guess that's par for the course with their treatment in the 90's anime.

Mamoru's monologue is....weirdly predatory? Like, he likes girls with broken hearts? So he can comfort them? What? I don't think they thought about how....unfortunate his monologue sounds.

Anyway.

There's also a short drama included on the album, entitled "Princess Serenity and Endymion." (A rather spoilery track, considering this album was released the same day episode 33 - Venus's debut - premiered.) Again we get Usagi dropping some Aphrodite knowledge, plus a factoid about Emperor Nero! (Usagi sure has some niche knowledge; she'd probably do well on a quiz show.) Mamoru's mention of Napoleon and Josephine makes me want a fanfic or musical or something where Usagi and Mamoru were Napoleon and Josephine in a past life.

Other than that, there really isn't anything to be said about it other than I'm confused as to when it takes place, but maybe that's due to the wonkiness of the translation?

Until the R season audio dramas and the third Classic audio drama get translated, the only things left to discuss are the characters' prologues and poems for R, S, and Sailor Stars.

The Inners' prologues and poems for R are pretty unexceptional, IMO. Nothing to really comment on. The S prologues and poems are a bit more interesting:

Haruka's starts off with her getting a phone call from Michiru, indicating that they don't live together, which is weird because I always thought they did live together?

Anyway, after the opening bit, we get into Haruka's prologue, which opens with her saying, "Before I met you, I was a pirate, taking for my own everything I liked in the world that I could see. I was a queen, leading all those around me." 1. I really want a side story where Haruka is a pirate queen. 2. I think it's out of character for Haruka to refer to herself with the English word "queen." Manga Haruka, sure, but '90s anime Haruka was always firmly butch. Seems a strange word choice to me.

Next up, we get Michiru's prologue and poem. Nothing to see here.

Lastly is Chibiusa's, which is probably the most interesting to me:

1. I want to know more about Chibiusa's parrot(s).
2. What memento from Mamoru does Usagi always keep in her pocket? The star locket?
3. I love the Arabian Nights imagery of the poem (the flying carpet, the genie, etc). With all the candy and even a gondola, it gives me strong SuperS movie vibes. I'd love a side story or OVA or musical or anything that really built on using the Arabian Nights as a source of inspiration.
I'll discuss the Stars stuff soon.
