Hello! Just for anyone who's interested, the piece when Mamoru tries to attack Galaxia is actually not a Studio Library piece. It's from the Sailor Moon SuperS movie and the cue can be found on track 12 of Memorial Music Box Disc 10. Here's the mp3 link from sailormusic.net:

http://sailormusic.net/music/Sailormoon ... Castle.mp3

The cue itself is at the 2:19 mark.

Edit: On my browser I had to copy and paste the web address for the piece into a new tab; clicking on it lead me directly to the main page of Sailormusic.net

im pretty sure now you cant find every piece on this site. ive searched for handel's sarabande used in episode 110. no luck and i have the name for that song. there was no version even close to the one in sailor moon. the found tracks are probably on this site because they are "famous" and are used many, many times

Can someone please explain the method of extracting music files from the site where we are finding the library cues and converting them into MP3s? I would like to know since the majority of these CDs are unavailable online for purchase and some of the music would be great to have on a CD or ipod playlist for meditation. I would be extremely appreciative :)

The only way I know how is to use the Stereo Mix recording option on my computer. Basically it allows you to automatically record whatever is playing in the background. I'm not sure about any other OS's but on Windows 7 you right click on the speaker icon in the taskbar, click "recording devices" look for "stereo mix" and right click it, set it as the default device.

Then just open up Audacity or whatever recording app, play the music in the background, hit record and it should start recording it perfectly.

hi everyone! firstly apologies for a long post hope it doesn't put people off I like writing too much. ^_^'

sorry I've been held up... mostly by a video game going down the swanny and the weird thing that happened to the sight.

for me since late December up to a month so ago there was this apache server down sort of thing saying the website was under maintenance. it kinda discouraged me from looking for the music and led down a path of the woes that be online gaming.

anyways forgetting that because I want to forget that, back to finding musics! sorry if people were expecting i'd find stuff  ... I've been busy

anyways why library music matt? because IT'S CHEAPER! you'd rather studios spend money on the animators and voice acters rather than blowing it all on commissioning their own music right? depending on how good producers are at wangling backers money and what price they can get for the rights to publish the musicians compositions on air and resale {repeats overseas airings dvd sales} determines how much original music a series has compared to stock. Midday dramas have one theme and the odd incidental piece otherwise it's all stock, a movie has exclusively all it's own score and we now understand why they talk about made for 10 mill hoping it makes it back in box office sales in a week so.

money determined the birth of stock libraries along with simply the need to add "colour sound" to visual productions. that's why stock music has a lot of themed material in it such as classical or generic rap beats because directors of music are given dramatic scenarios and having familiarised themselves with the library {they choose to pay a small fee to access, terms depend on each libraries policy like the universal site allows full listening before contract negotiation, whereas others you have to pay to listen to the tracks at all well before requesting and drawing up rights of use payment plans} the music director then decides what music fits the mood the writers and directors intended, sailor moon has many of these drama examples where a particular piece they no of in the library suits the mood to a 'T'. the piano music they chose was brilliant and I wish I could find that stuff!!! then there's examples where you can have your own recordings made of already written pieces again a fresh version of a classical piece is a good example and those are the tracks that make it on the tv soundtrack cause it's the studios own commissioned material where as you buy from a library for only the distribution rights you can afford, thank good they did the resale stuff or we'd miss these great library pieces on hd dvd stuff made today!

as i've said about my gripes between the bbc and top gear it's a money thing and a different example; this is why heartbeat {that thames TV 60's themed drama from Britain} has struggled for years to get dvd's out but it hardly retains it's original soundtrack. because when it was made in the early 90's the music they used belonged to just a few record labels and the price was fair. since then more owners of copyright distribution and general more demanding prices means the only way they have released the video material is to cut out a lot of audio. then stock music has another use filling in gaps to try and cover the lack of music problem up, cause lets face it dramas without music at all gets very boring.

that's why we have library music, cheaper means to add more colourful entertainment value to productions. shame the libraries don't spruce their own stuff purely on a commercial basis, I don't do that much searching but all I've found as far as for commercial resale is those ren and stimpy soundtracks and I've seen monty python TV soundtracks available somewhere else.

now... it's purely incidental that this sounds like a professional explanation cause I can assure you I'm not a part of the audio design industry and failed my classes regarding such things, it's just my understanding of the situation. :keke:

a salute right there! yes this was an extracted cue and listening back on the episode it sounds hilarious how abruptly they chopped the end of that music!

no and you won't be able to i've tried it too. back when toei made sailormoon the order structure of soundlibraries was way different than now, hence we're finding a sample mostly through the atmosphere sound library but one or two tracks came from chapel. universal now encompasses many sound libraries from atmosphere to zones. these libraries started at different times and other than the 50's and 60's tiny collections simply labelled under archive and such there's very little 80's-90's production music listed. atmosphere - chapel and bruton I've tried, warner chapel I've tried and a bunch of others. I even tried emailing toei to see if they would be helpful calling out some stock library's they worked with but... I have no clout beyond English so... nothing really. so I don't know what other sound library toei were using let alone where you might find them they could be consumed under a fresh studio for all we know, or it could still belong to the same little Japanese library who keep going churning out 2-3 albums a year from one recording studio {kinda what I imagine those piano pieces would come from} who knows!?

still don't stop trying, I'm fairly confident many of the missing pieces are archived it's just wondering where and are they uploaded to the net at all?

^I meant why in Sailor Moon when they already have their own music? They could very well use this for Kaolinite's last battle: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7GBFWCAq-tQ
ah the story telling art... a big peek in the story line has different musics.

like a video game, you have fight music 1 and 2 for 6 stages and then theres the boss theme

same diff, extra colours adds depth and makes it more memorable. a change is as good as a rest I suppose. plus I think the strings adds a bit more tension than the standard danger music.
