Madman are currently having a summer sale, quite a few Moonie things reduced like...
"Sailor Moon R (Season 2) Part 1 Eps 47-68" for $10
"Sailor Moon - Moon Stick (Proplica)" for $105
"Sailor Moon Crystal Set 1 (Eps 1-14) Limited" (if SMC is your thing...) for $30
I wonder if "Supers Part 2" will be $10 next summer!

Also lots of Moonie Pullips for a reasonable price at JPGROOVE.COM

Did we ever find out what masters they're using for S, SuperS, and SailorStars? I know they said they'd be using Toei's upscaled masters but it seems those haven't actually been released yet in Japan as Madman presses on, and I read they'd continue using the Italian masters because of that.

I'm waiting on Part 2 myself.
JB have Stars Part 1 Limited Edition DVD (@Belrose) and Blu-Ray (@Castle Towers) which are both about 10 km from my house. If you get super desperate you know who to ask. I see that Madman has sold out on their site.
Or Google for "Sailor Moon Stars Part 1 au limited" and you get results like (dunno if they do international delivery or are trustworthy sites)...
Sailor Moon Sailor Stars - Season 5 Part 1 (Limited Edition)
Buy Sailor Moon Sailor Stars (Season 5) Part 1 (Episodes 167-183) (Limited Edition) on DVD from EzyDVD.com.au
I'd just keep an eye on Sanity, Madman & JB until something comes up.

That’s indeed weird. If the rights were expiring, I’m sure that would mean they would also take the show off of iTunes and digital platforms. It’s still being sold there at the moment..

edit: Actually, their iTunes listings are weird. They never updated seasons 1-3 to include HD. It’s still their initial SD release (so basically the Italian DVD masters.) They have Crystal and Stars Part 1 in HD. SuperS isn’t there at all... so who knows..

Blu-ray Forum - View Single Post - Viz Licenses Original Sailor Moon Anime Franchise

I haven’t contacted Viz but contacted Madman and got this response:

Unfortunately, Sailor Moon Sailor Stars (Season 5) Part 2 has been indefinitely delayed due to licensing issues which may take some time to resolve. Please keep an eye on the Madman website for the updated released dates.

Kind Regards,

Madman Team.

So there is definitely a problem with the English license.

I looked on Madman's page, and Sailor Moon Season 1 Complete Collection Blu-ray is removed from their listing. The DVD version is still listed, but is noted as "Out of Stock". JB Hi-Fi had removed Season 1 Blu-ray too, but the DVD version is still listed, although that is noted as "Limited Stock".

Regarding Sailor Stars, Madman removed both the Blu-ray and DVD versions of Part 1, while JB Hi-Fi listed the Blu-ray and DVD versions (both Standard Editions), but noted the DVD version as "Limited Stock" and the Blu-ray version as "Special Order Online". At this point, I'm glad I didn't wait for Madman to release Part 2, and imported Viz's release of Part 2 last month while I still had the chance.

Oh dear. Hopefully they'll be released and back in print soon. I'm worried that this might be an early sign of the international licensing going away again. I better hurry up and buy the seasons I'm missing while I still have the chance. :/ I held off in the early 2000s and we know how that went.

Thanks so much for that info. I've been watching the Madman store too and I can confirm they removed all of their Sailor Stars content on the 7th of May. I was going to buy Stars Part 2 on Blu-ray from them but I've now placed an order for the US version (oh the fun of region locks) on Amazon for Part 2 DVD to be sure I don't miss out on this entirely. And if Madman ever releases Part 2 I'll still buy the Blu-ray from them to complete my collection. In a way I feel sorry for Madman, they are possibly in a position to sue for loss of potential revenue.

They appear to be going out of print in Canada too. Sold out or limited quantity everywhere I've looked and there's already gouging from 3rd party sellers for both S and SuperS. Sigh. Here we go again.

Today my Toei Sailor Stars Part 2 DVDs arrived from America via Amazon (16 days later, $50 AU with free delivery, totally worth it). I am super happy to be watching Stars again.

I understand why Australia plays second fiddle in big license agreements but the handling of this licensing arrangement and release was really appalling. Where is the love for the international community who loves this franchise so much?

The 2nd half of my blu-ray box from Madman with a card insert saying "PUT PART 2 HERE" (it is in caps on the box...) still waits for the day its demands can be delightfully fulfilled.

/me waits years for the dub to be released.
Also /me proceeds to watch it in Japanese voice mode without subtitles.
Old habits.

I know, it's really frustrating x_x Sorry for liking your show? Sheesh. The series has barely even been released (and incomplete for Australia and probably other places too) and it already looks like the license is being snatched out of our hands.

Do recommend the Viz dub by the way, it's so good ♡ I never really properly watched beyond the Makai Tree arc before (that was what I saw back in the 90s, so the nostalgia kept me going) subbed, but I absolutely love the new dub, it has a great cast and script, it's a joy to watch.

The only awkward moments are a few moments when they translated it too literally for some scenes. It sounds goofy in English since it's just not how we talk, but 98% of the time the dialogue is totally natural sounding and really well written.

The cursing is a bit weird for a kids show too, but I guess they wanted to avoid falling into the super awkward "dangggg youuuuu" trap which would just make you laugh xD

Chaos possessed a new target. Sailor Takeuchi is right now using her Shadow PNP minions to bring every international SM licensing deal into limbo. :P
Why couldn't she have waited until they released Sailor Stars Part 2 here in Australia?! It's not fair, we were so close!! I really don't want to purchase the U.S. version... but I may be forced to in the end.

No it isn't fair. For me the prospect of waiting an indefinite amount of time for something that there is a tiny possibly might not ever become available and could become more expensive was what made me decide to purchase it from the US. If I become aware of it becoming available from Madman I'll let you know.
