But does anyone else find that, over the last say .. 15 episodes or so, that they have really improved the fight choreography?

When I watched the first five episodes, I laughed at how lame the fights were. The youma would wind up and punch or dash or whatever and the senshi would just spin and frolick away like some fairy, occasionally doing some slow as hell cartwheels or whatever in which the youma stood by and watched.

Now, I've been thinking this for a long time but after seeing ep 21 where Jupiter fights Kunzite, I really am sure now that whoever was doing it (or perhaps a new person) directing the combat scenes got their act together. The fight between these two was probably (although short) the best looking fight scene I saw. And it wasn't lame as in, kick - spin - pose - jump - slow punch - twirl away and look pretty. It was rather fast paced and when they got close Jupiter let some punches fly and one part even looked real, the part where Jupiter threw a jab or hook (couldnt tell) and Kunzite parried it then slapped down her other punch. I thought that short scene was very well done.

Another one that kind of stuck out was when Jadeite took on .. Mars and Jupiter was it? Before his teleporting thing from Zoicite got to him. That was done pretty well too I found, especially how Jadeite handled those crystal blades.

Just my random direlect thoughts on it .. it doesn't seem quite so cheesy and corny anymore. It seems as if its slowly geared itself towards a slightly more older audience too. Jupiter telling Kunzite not to [BLEEP] with her, well hot damn, Jupiter kicks ass just for being a tough son of a gun.

Thoughts?

Yes, I do agree that Act 21's fight scene was pretty good compared to the previous episodes. I only liked that one fight scene. It didn't have anything like it in Act 22 though. I wonder if they won't keep it up? I wonder what happened?

I'm inclined to think Makoto would have said "Don't [BLEEP] with her!" or "Don't [BLEEP] with us!" had she said the subject of that phrase. Either way, I agree Act 21's fight scene was well done and put together. I liked it.

Act 8's was enjoyable, too. Mars looked funny at one point when she was slightly crouched and kind of backing away from Jadeite... Her feet (I don't know why) bothered me there. I also didn't like how she had all of her wig's hair in her face to try and cover the face of the stunt double.

And... Since this is a subject about PGSM, I'll move it over to the correct forum.

I think part of it too is that that's jupiter's fighting style. You can't get around it. She's the "toughest" senshi, so she's really going to use the hand-to-hand combat style.

And bless her for that. I always like how she's willing to fight hands on with the enemy. The fight scene with her and Kunzite really impressed me. It was much better than usual.

Oh yes, the fighting has definitely gotten much better. All it needs now is a little polishing here and there and it'd be golden. I just wish they go back and change it for the other eps so I don't have to gag every time I'd go back and watch em. Oh well. The best punch thus far has been when Makoto knocked down Mamoru. Hehe, it was beautiful.

Oh yea that punch from right field was awesome. In fact, Mako is awesome. Get lost Venus, I have a new favourite. I root for Kunzite all the time but in that fight, I was confused. I didn't know who to root for and sat still, mystified at the strange feelings within me. I wanted Mako to kick ass, on the other hand, I wanted to see Kunzite show his stuff. Why can't there be a happy medium?

... I wonder if she can kick ass in real life too? Oh man

You mean that was done on purpose? :P I was laughing so hard!! As for Jupiter's fight with Kunzite, there was one thing that doesn't make sense. After the punches, Jupiter jumps backwards into the air, then a close-up shot of her thrusting herself forward and then we get to see her leg flying towards Kunzite and then landing on Kunzite's arm. Is that possible? :|

I haven't really payed attention to the fighting, because it's not really the focus of the show. I'm always way more engrossed in how the plot is moving.

But even I have noticed there is a lot less ballet-fu

I have watched the scene so many times let me run the play by play.

Makoto transforms becomes Jupiter.

She takes a fighting pose.

She then cartwheels two times forward.

Does a front kick, a left back hand, then a right hook, then a left hook, then a right upper cut, then a right crescent kick.

She twirls then poses.

She continues with a right leg foot sweep.

She then jumps back and spins counter clock wise doing a 360 spin. Then does a right forward kick.

She then does a back flip then lands and does her thunder attack.

The way it was filmed made it look kind of odd but it makes sense. Anyway, Jupiter's fighting style is good may she keep it up. Maybe the more the Senshi awaken their ture power the less ballet-fu we will see.

i can only say that I liked Kunzie's parry of Jupiter's kick, before Jupiter used Supreme Thunder in act 21. As for the jadeite fight, I liked the way both senshis flipped him 360 degrees around. Way cool.

:P I think the fight scenes have improved so much since the "good old days" of last October or November that it's almost like watching a totally different program! Just compare the "battles" from the first five episodes to those of the last half dozen or so! The improvement is almost breath taking!
It has helped a lot the the youma are a lot more sinister looking and dangerous!

Ive always liked the Jupiter/Moon vs Straw!Youma fight scene from Act7. There is alot of movement from all of the players and I thought that slow-down where Moon was setting up her attack as Jupiter was finishing her kick was a nice effect. Granted its not as good as some of the most recient scenes (now their punches look like they actually hit), that one has always stuck out.

I was extremely impressed with the fight scene with Jupiter and Kunzite. When I was watching it, I nearly jumped out of my seat in happy shock. It actually looked like they were fighting! There was actual fighting going on instead of just flipping around like a ballerina. It was so cool! :megaoh:

As you can see from Act 23, the fighting stunts have improved for the senshi besides Jupiter. Did you see those crazy kicks? Damn Miyuu is flexible.
I cant get over Venus Combo of Kicks sending the youma into Moon for another kick to the back of the head. :) If they had Jupiter in the scene, the poor youma would have an arsonal of punches coming its way. :)
