Even though Moonlight Densetsu has an official translation, there have been many fan translations and reinterpretations over the years. I've decided to share my own below. Since I don't know Japanese, I've had to use different translations and fan remixes as my guide, but here goes nothing.

Moonlight Legend

I am so sorry that I can't tell you
Even though in my dreams my words come through.
My thoughts are shorting out and burst into
A yearning need to open my heart.

I find myself in tears under moonlight.
I want to call, but it's after midnight.
The fractured hues and shapes are my mind's sight
Through a kaliedocope, apart.

With moonbeams shining through the dark like a beacon,
We'll reunite again and again.

Under the constellations of starlight,
Will our love find its way through the long night?
Now reborn on the same world, we just might
Create a Miracle Romance.

If we're together once more this weekend
I wish our tale would have a happy end.
From past to future, the moonlight legend
is in our love. You make me whole.

When we first met, our gazes crossed in a brief dance.
I won't forget that very first glance.

A million stars won't keep us separated.
Our hearts are one and our love is fated.
This opportunity is what we made it.
We won't repeat mistakes of old.

When wond'rous circumstances begin to happen,
We'll reunite again and again.

Under the constellations of starlight,
Will our love find its way through the long night?
Now reborn on the same world, we just might
Create a Miracle Romance.
We're going to have another chance.
This is our Miracle Romance.
Tell me what you think. Does anyone have any fan translations, fan covers, or fan lyrics of their own they would like to share?

This three fan covers are decent.

Here's mine:

"For holding back my words, I am sorry,
While in my dreams, I'll speak without worry,
And now my thoughts begin to break down,
In my need to see you now.

And so my tears shine bright in the moonlight,
My voice drowned out by the chimes of midnight,
All this back and forth, what does my heart say?
With its kaleidoscopic ways.

I pray the moon will lead us down this road again,
There we'll meet, fate only knows when.

As I count the stars up in the night sky,
A map by which I'll know true love by,
Both here on Earth, let's start a new dance,
Our own miracle romance,

I'll believe and take a chance,
In our miracle romance."

The first one you shared is REALLY, REALLY good. Not only is the singer great but the instrumentation. I also like the extra at the end.

The second one has a good singer, but the lyrics diverge from the original meaning a lot, even more than mine. The instrumentation is little soft, though, but it's not bad.

The third is very faithful, but to a fault. It's trying to translate the song, but it doesn't give the impression of something you'd want to sing along with.

I do like yours. "Both here on Earth, let's start a new dance, our own miracle romance" is very poetic. If only there were someone who could sing it.

As for another favorite, the video of the Alexis and Kirk Rende fusion of Moonlight Densetsu and the old English Sailor Moon theme is a favorite of mine.

Another of my favorites is very far afield from the original song in terms of genre and lyrics (although it's more of a rearrangement in timing than anything else), but astounding in its own right, and a rare male-singer cover. The Platina Jazz production takes a while to get going, but when "A Moonlight Serenade" does, it is a sultry form of awesome.

Thank you. I think Amanda Lee's cover is great too.

We also can't talk about fan cover without mentioning the one done by Sailor Mars herself: Cristina Vee.
