I loved their fandub. I wish they had better microphones and equipment, but there was a lot of heart in it. I have the DVD's back home of the SuperS arc but I've moved out of state. I never saved 173 though, which was on their website. If I ever get them back I will definitely upload them somewhere.
I always liked the Negavision dub and thought it was well made myself.
ETA: I tried to transfer my old VHS tape of their dub of episode 2 ("Mackdaddy Melvin") and 20 ("Scouts' Day Off") to DVD but it didn't work for some reason. I'll try again tomorrow. But rewatching the dub, although it brought back some fond memories of middle school and the fandom in the early 2000s, I have to say it wasn't that great. Audio quality all over the place and not very well edited together (though that's par for the course with fandubs, especially back then). I do think Michelle Sullivan did a good job as Serena, but everyone else was....forgettable at best.

I think it's just that I didn't realize there was a separate set of steps I was supposed to follow in order to finalize the disc; I assumed that would be automatic once I pressed stop. It is an old tape, of course, but I don't think that's what prevented the transfer (though, if I do succeed, be prepared for some potato quality video 
)

I had no idea Negavision dubbed the skipped episodes. I always assumed it was just the Nehelenia Stars arc.
Honestly, the only fandub I really liked was Mark Sprague's. Aside from some questionable voices, I really liked the writing and thought the editing was pretty good. Also the girl who voices Serena is fantastic. She rivaled Tracey Moore as one of my favorite voice for Serena. I wish he would've dubbed more episodes.

^ Nope, they dubbed episodes 2 and 20 as well, but I suppose those episodes are rare since they didn't offer them on their site. I've always heard good things about Mark's fandub, but I never managed to get a copy.

The video quality is definitely potato-grade (it's a rip of an old VHS tape of a dub made with a VHS rip, after all) but it's still watchable, and the sound quality is decent enough.

Doing fandubs back then must’ve been hard as hell. At least now, it can be done with GarageBand, Audacity, and video editing software like Sony Vegas, Final Cut, or Adobe Premiere, but it’s still a lot of work and extremely time consuming. I used to love doing fandubs for small clips, which took just a few hours to mix, but a whole series fandubs is way too exhausting and sucks up too much time to be worth it.

I know how you feel. There was one fandub of Sailor Moon I tried to audition and not get the role on (not sure if I remember which one was doing the fandubbing), but sadly, it was not to be for me.

I foolishly tried full series fandubs for both Sailor Moon and Tokyo Mew Mew (remember that show?) back in early high school, but never got past one episode for TMM (and nothing for SM). Even with a partner doing the mixing and helping with the writing, it was still too much work. There's also actors and scripts to keep up with. Projects like that are almost guaranteed to have actors drop out or not respond, so be prepared to recast. If you're in school, forget about it. Goodbye freetime, and probably your grades too. In hindsight, I do not know what I was thinking and am thankful both projects died early.
Once upon a time, I was go-to amateur voice actor for guy roles in magical girl anime fandubs (also including ones I didn't care for like Mermaid Melody and Shugo Chara). I voiced Mamoru/Tuxedo Mask many times, Jadeite at least once, and pretty much every major guy in TMM (especially Ryou). Just doing voices for fandubs isn't nearly as time-consuming, but at it can eventually lead to professional work in indie games, etc. Lots of young voice actors for anime and video games got their starts in fandub-type projects.
I was a voice actor in a longrunning fandub of the DS game Magical Starsign that actually completed the thing (I was a regular voice for bit roles). It took years, with the girl in charge even taking a few months off to have a baby, but she still finished it. There were only two major recasts too (one of which did go through four actors though). It was a bit easier though since she was just adding voices to text bubbles. That was back in the good old days of Voice Acting Alliance.

Oh yeah. I never did a fandub, but I made a fanime in high school (god it was embarrassing) and it was like pulling teeth getting actors to send me their lines. One person completely disappeared off the net, and I couldn't get anybody to fill in.
