Wow. A new Sera Myu after ... 8 years!!

Not too fond of Mamoru being portrayed by a Takarazuka actress ... prefered a male Mamoru instead ... only seen Yuuta Mochidzuki though since I watched him in Zyuranger...

Since its 2013 ... I would have chose Ryouma Baba to be Mamoru (#mancrush and he was also in a Sentai Series too LOL... oh and he was in the Prince of Tennis musicals XP)

How were the original SeraMyus filmed? I seem to recall there being a torrent of some of them way back when, but I couldn't muster enough interest to download and watch them.
You could always go to Ms. Dream's youtube account. =^_^=

You speak as if I would actually give Elly the web traffic.

Sailor Moon Fansubs has many of them up for download. I have yet to watch any of the ones Elly subbed because it's elly. I've seen all the rest though.

I prefer to separate the art from the artist, as most of the releases to come out of Miss Dream (regardless of who made them) have been of a quite good quality.

Now that depends on your opinion of the translations and some of the liberties they took therein.

I want to be a fan of the musicals because they did do some things I wanted to see in the manga(e.g. senshi x shitennou), and there's some new characters...but I really can't stand musicals. But I'm happy more SM things are being revived...now all Naoko needs to do is write some more side stories.

To be fair... It's now considered perfectly appropriate to refer to actors of either gender as just "actors" rather than actors/actresses. Article on it.
Until next time when feminists will feel offended again and propose that they should be called persons-of-the-acting.
I still don't get why gender specific words offend some women. What's wrong with being concise? Saying "actor" but subsequently needing to point out that you're talking about a female is stupid, just say "actress" and save your breath.

I don't have the time to check to see if the news from ANN has been linked to yet... so...
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/int...n-musical-returns-after-8-years-with-new-cast

Takeuchi herself personally auditioned the cast.
I think that might be an error due to a mistranslation, since I recall seeing someone say the same thing before (might have been earlier in this thread) but then corrected themselves saying that is actually referred to Naoko simply being present for the auditions.

I've very seldom visited Elly's site unless it's linked by someone on other sites, but from what she's posted here in the past, I do consistently get the impression that she/they take(s) much liberties on that regard. XD

It's explicitly stated on the official Sailor Moon site that she did audition the cast. :)

Back when Miss Dream released their subbed version of episode 1 of the anime, I did a side-by-side comparison between it and the SMC subbed release (which itself was based on the subtitle script of the ADV DVDs), and the subtitle scripts of each were pretty similar in meaning, with each's sentences phrased differently (as is commonplace between different fansubbing groups) and only a small handful of notable differences in the subs.

For example, when Shingo berates Usagi for being kicked out of the house and Usagi gets offended by him, the exchange went like this in each subbed version:

SMC subs
Shingo: "I want a better sister."
Usagi: "You're my younger brother!"

Miss Dream subs
Shingo: "Man, I only wish it were raining."
Usagi: "You can't talk to me like that, you're not my dad!"

Maybe I should've made it clearer in my above-quoted comment: those stuff she posted here in the past that I was referring to isn't the subs, but manga translations - I've no idea what those subs are like since I've never watched them myself. :)

A translation is still a translation, regardless of its medium.

Then from what I've seen in those manga translations Elly has posted here in the past, I've got the impression that they're quite "liberal." XD Maybe the translations in their subs are done by different translators? But I don't really know about their operations. lol

Well, that's... interesting.

I was specifically thinking of some issues I've had with the myu subs, though. In general they seemed to take words and amplify their meanings, like "sugoi" became "flipping awesome" and "okama" turned into "faggot", or they had Usagi (Usagi of all people, and Marina!Usagi in particular!) say this:

IMNSHO it is completely out of character for Usagi to say something that strong - and as I recall she said "majisuka" there, which I don't really think should have been translated to that no matter which senshi said it.

But yeah, I've had quite a few issues with their translations in general, so.

I can see why the translations are different.

The main words that completely changed the meaning were:

Sister (ane) and Rain (ame)
Younger Bro (otouto) dad (otousan)

teabot

So how does someone in USA get tickets to the Musicals, will there be more dates later?
I'd really love to see a Sailor Moon Musical.
it'd be really difficult...

you'd have to have someone in Japan make the order online, then go to a convenience store to pay for them, then visit the store again a few weeks later to pick up the tickets... then post them to you or something...

unless you already had plans to be in Japan in September/flights booked, i'm not sure you could easily find someone willing to go to the trouble.

correct me if i'm wrong but have the Nakayoshi pre-orders finished yet? all i know is that i paid for mine yesterday and can pick up the tickets starting from the 22nd. idk how the next round of orders will proceed.
