I don't know why but Ikuko Ito's art is very... Ikuko Ito. It don't say it's bad, but I just don't like it. It does not have a vibe of Naoko at all. People may make a comparison and say "See? This part is more resemble of Naoko's, Sakou's and Akira's are far more different". But the overall feeling is just so different from Naoko's.

Ikuko Itou has a signature style. I quite like it. She really formed her style while working on Sailor Moon and for me she did capture the essence. All she needs to do to make her design manga, would be a bit more volume to the hair and lipgloss. And she did nice lips on characters that were supposed to wear lipgloss. Look at her Mistress 9, Kaolinite and Neherenia. With few details added to her style, she would do best. But she is not as active in recent years. My main problem with Crysternal are not the character designers as much as the animators. Whatever the design, they are doing whatever they want with them... And for some reason with Crystal so far the designers don't stick a lot as animation directors to maje sure the art is consistent. I really hope the film format is a bit more consistent, but from what we have seen so far it won't be the case.

The only old styles I remember not liking were when the characters' faces look very round and the episode in Stars where Galaxia kills Tin Nyanko. Some of the art in that episode was pretty jarring.

I'd say I like them all except the very two last panels with the first three being my fav.

I think we should stop wanting to change a style every 4 mornings.
The one for season 1 & 2 was very good, we would have had to just avoid making crappy plans and quality work.
That of season 3 did not please me at all.
I'm waiting to see the one from Eternal, because judging with a photo is not for me.

mh maybe i want a new blood in sailor moon sorry but thinking about old character designers well is like saying i want 90s anime that will go around if they do that, like that happen with tadano
if we get something new like sakou maybe will have something different or better
i didnt like much the 90s designs, i like more some manga resemble or more manga like, or something new
i like season 1 and 2 more than season 3 but yeah like the design with eternal i get use to it but i dont think is that good in new merchandise is resemble more season 3 than 4
