Grim Dawn was supposed to be gritty and dark, evoking the (dull) colors of Diablo, the oppressive and bleak atmosphere, spiced up by over the top action and metal-stoked boss battles, with enough tentacles for every cast of every magical girl series ever produced.
Sure we had some beams,
...and a burst of freezing magic, which could reliably activate a devotion effect best described as a wave of bubbles (or bubbly/foamy water)
One could have said that fire in this game had a soul...
...and our lightning effects weren't bad either,
And this was all good, nothing special since Diablo 3 popularized beams with disintegrate, and the rest are pretty usual ARPG fare.
But then this latest expansion just had to give us secret powers we're all too familiar with:
bouncing gold frisbees!
There is no escape.
