To me it's
DK: obviously, the most epic and the only "not so happy ending"
Another Story: Both are beautiful and epic, we got to see the 10 senshi fight together and character growth.
S: Other than a few weak stuff it's great
R: It was decent
SS: A weak season and weak ending, should have used the first 6 episodes of Stars as the ending.
Stars: The ending pretty much dragged down the entire season and series. It should have been epic battle+good character growth instead of just pure "she's good, regardless of everyone has died".

SuperS : I really liked the 5 episodes that lead to the ending. There is an end without necessarily ending in the death of the villain.
R : Although the part of the future was really badly adapted in the anime, I enjoyed seeing Crystal Tokyo at the end in its glory.
S : The end I find it really sloppy. We are promised something super chaotic, and finally we see nothing ... There is a bitter taste: all that for that?
Sailor Stars : For me, the end concludes the 5 seasons well. The ultimate villain is defeated but not floored. The balance has been put back in place.
Classic : I find the end too shipped for my taste. 2 episodes and it's over.

Classic: Love it. It’s brutal, which shows how high the stakes were. It has multiple challenging fight scenes (DD Girls, Endymion, Beryl, Super Beryl). It’s a big climax for the season, a good fight, and a bittersweet but fitting ending.

SuperS: I think it drags a bit, but I thought Sailor Moon jumping off the ledge was epic. Nehellenia’s fate (in this ending, not the Stars arc) is creepy. I loved the Senshi confronting their evil “reflections”.

S: A pretty good run of final episodes.. though it fails to climax for me. The action tends to stop after Uranus and Neptune get trapped by Mistress 9’s hair. Then it’s just a lot of Usagi pleading and the real battle she fights isn’t even shown. It’s a good finale.. but it didn’t live up to what it had been building up to for me.

Stars: This went on way too long. They should have given the inners more of a fight.. but offing them in a minute did show how ruthless Galaxia was. At the end, I was hoping Usagi would do a bit more than just plead with Chaos.. especially with a sword in her hand. They could have done more with Chaos.. I do like the open ended finale though.

R: What a letdown. All this talk of Death Phantom being so powerful and then.. that’s it. Demand came around way too quick. His dying was well handled.. but then the final fight was so.. by the numbers. Usagi and ChibiUsa use their crystals. The end.. that’s the whole battle..

Bonus:

The Movies:

SuperS: I loved the ending. Usagi using her smarts to break out of her dream. The movie exclusive combo attack with Chibimoon. The comedic placement with them falling was well timed. And that beach outro was beautiful.

R: The whole movie was like a “best of” of the series for me. Of course in the end Usagi uses her crystal, but I think it goes through so many more buildups before then. Reminds me of the end of Classic, except Usagi is sacrificed instead of the girls. And of course brought back. I loved it.

S: Luna becoming human is the highlight. The final battle itself is another “by the numbers” fight. Big Bad with her power on one end, Moon on the other with a crystal. I felt Snow Kaguya could have been amped up wayyyy more. She had a great design. If Crystal ever adapts it, I hope they give her more to work with. (“Hope” being a keyword.)

Demande was already showing his human side, especially when his brother died. I don't think he came around too quick.

The four Inners did lend their power to help out Moon and Chibi-Usa in R (along with in the R movie).

The S movie in my eyes is one of those ones where I don't get its popularity and its manga version bores me to tears.

The plot was ok for a short story but a bit weak for a movie of 10 senshi big action.

Do you like Another Story's endings?

The final battle against Death Phantom was LESS interesting in the manga than it was in the anime.
I find that Naoko's battles tend to be very uninteresting. Action definitely wasn't her strong point. I feel both the 90s anime and Crystal improved that. Though with Crystal, it's interesting that the few fight scenes in the manga that I considered to be standouts were toned down in the show (Morga, Eudial.) I did enjoy their improvements on the rest of them though... except for Metalia. That was disappointing.

I meant more as in putting up a fight with more action. The R movie satisfied me because they had enough action beforehand (they kicked butt in the streets and on the asteroid). I felt like the R finale was... not that interesting. The SuperS movie was also just them lending their power again, but here they had a pretty cool fight beforehand so I was satisfied. The S movie battles were also lackluster for me.

It would be very cool if the four sisters come up to help the senshi fight Death Phantom, along with the soul of Demande brothers.

The ultimate battles in R and the R movie are pretty much copy-pastes of the battle against Beryl. The inners lend Moon their powers, she saves the day with some big Silver Crystal blow and that's all. At least the Classic ending had a lot of emotional charge behind it and really good dialogue between Beryl and Usagi.

1. Classic
It has the perfect balance between being action-packed and emotionally charged and accomplishes this in two episodes without feeling rushed.

2. S
I get that some people don't like how the final fight is off-screen, but I don't mind as much because I enjoy the emphasis on the emotional turmoil that everyone goes through; the voice acting is top-notch, and the two-part epilogue wraps everything up nicely.

3. SuperS
I really enjoy the visuals and the surreal-ness of this season's finale. I just love the idea of magic mirrors and the fairy tale-like atmosphere of everything is such a treat for me. It's also interesting how the villain ends up getting what she wants, but at the same time is defeated in a way because she is stopped from conquering Earth.

4. Sailor Stars
I could write an essay on my issues with this season's finale, but basically Usagi is so insufferable these last few episodes because she is the only other person who could stop Galaxia, besides the Light of Hope, because she has an advantage no other senshi has - she is keeper of the silver crystal - and yet all she does is whine and cry while the Starlights are getting their asses kicked left and right. Like, come on, Usagi, help out your friends and save your beloved planet. At least it is action-packed and keeps me on the edge of my seat, though.

5. R
It feels like a rehash of the previous season's finale.

I actually really liked the R finale except for one thing: WHERE is Pluto!? What the actual.

Otherwise I quite like it. The heartfelt moment when they convince Black Lady that she is loved, and the epic moment of La Soldier playing. I'm a weird fan who saw a good dozen Myu before ever seeing the R finale, and saw it over a decade after discovering Myu, so I have a highly unusual situation where La Solider is crazy nostalgic for me, so when it started up I was like: "WHAT HELLZ YEAH *almost getting teary*"

My whole fandom for the series is kind of weird lol, definitely experienced it in a very unconventional order than most people.

Anyway I'm currently watching through the series during lockdown and will post my ranking when I'm done as I'm a bit too foggy to fairly do it now, just wanted to discuss the R finale :)
