So jealous that Mexico is getting my dream dub (even if it is for Crystal) but "Sailor Scouts" being used with "Guardian" in the title is a little awkward. Of course, this also suggests that Sailor Guardian might not be a mandated term after all...
But who said "Pretty Guardian" is being used in the Mexican show title? Even the faithful Viz dub removes it from its title.

I don't think it matters if title is "Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Crystal" and they say "Sailor Scouts".

I didn't realize/remember that Viz dropped the "Pretty Guardian" part from the title. Interesting.

Fair point.

Because they didn't, all Crystal releases has the full title on it from the packaging & discs to the OP videos.

Unless he's referring to the 90s redub which isn't completely true either since it was mentioned in the beginning of episode 89.

I thought Viz removed the "Pretty Guardian" portion from both. Well, other countries did it in Crystal anyway.

He wants to know why these American names were picked up by the classic dub in the first place.
According to my knowledge, it was the Mexican executives way back in the 90s who decided to keep the DIC names. The names were the same in all countries from the Americas.

Also, if memory serves me well, the Latin American Spanish/Portuguese dubs did not consistently address them as "scouts" or "guardians." They were guerreras or guerreiras lunares (moon warriors). That makes me think... the title Pretty Warrior Sailor Moon is actually kind of cool.

I always understand the Japanese word "senshi" as the English word "warrior" myself. :)

Actually, the LA Spanish dub used "Sailor Scouts", "Sailor Guerreras" and "Sailors".
The Brazilian Portuguese dub used "Guerreiras" in season 1. When the other (awful) dubbing studio took over in R, they used the atrocious "Sailor Moons" as a translation. "Sailor Guerreiras" and "Sailors" were used for the other seasons, but the monstruosity that was "Sailor Moons" ocasionally striked again. This and Serena's awful replacement VA are some of the reasons I go for subs when I want to watch episodes from the four final seasons.
Linda Ballantyne's acting was paradise compared to Daniela Piquet.

I never watched the 2nd Portuguese dub, so I cannot tell exactly how awful it is... but everybody seems to hate it with a passion.

The main roles were given to young girls who were still newcomers to voice acting, whereas in the first dub the main voices were provided by experienced women. And the voice direction for the second dub was really sloppier than the first one. It was a recipe for disaster.

If me Spanish is good enough, they apparently replaced her without a good reason. I've heard the studio doing the job has problems with one voice actors syndicate tho.
I believe they already reached at least season 2 by now.

EDIT: Apparently she has some kind of illness. Buy anyway, she seems resentful for being replaced in her post.

Amy's voice actress politely replied to Rocio's post, saying she got replaced because she had told the studio her doctor told her she needed to rest. And wished her a quick recovery.
Rocio is almost 70 years old, her mind probably isn't 100% sound anymore. A younger person would probably understand why they were replaced without getting upset.

Why are some people so sad about the fact they didn't assemble the original English dub cast? I haven't grown up with it and I am sure the nostalgia vibe might be nice, but it was a mess of it's own. I am not talking about the scripts and cuts. First of all - which is the cast you want? The DiC cast or the Cloverway cast. Which is the "orginal" English Usagi? Is it Tracey Moore, as she was the first Usagi voice, or is it Terry Hawks? I doubt anyone would like Linda Balentine back, but who knows... Or you miss the granny Luna voice, which was a total miscast, or the strange "Molly" accent. What is wrong with the new voices - they sound mostly right to me, except for the weird choice for Shingo and Naru, the main cast sounds just fine to me. Sorry for the off topic comment. I am not fan of these old names being used in Mexican dub of Crystal. This didn;t happen anywhere else... Weird choice with the scouts too...

I wonder if they are going to censor the scene of Sailor Uranus kissing Sailor Moon (third season).

TV Azteca and Televisa are conservative.
