I just wanted to point out there are at least two - three voices per character and they might be under Optimum, but they are drastically different. . And yeah the British nanny was indeed a huge miscast because Luna's human form is of a 18 - 20 year-old.VIZ dd that to Shing, so they are not perfect. I don't say anything against people who like the old dub the way it is. I just find it strange that it seems some people wanted the same acyots in a faithful, uncut dub - it would have been fine for some characters, but would hae been totally miscast. Anyway.

Except not really. Lita, Amara, Michelle, Luna, Artemis, Molly, Melvin and , Serena’s mom all keep the same voice actor throughout the show and movies (among other characters but im not counting the ones that only existed for a single season)
And Emilie Barlow’s stint as Raye was so short (17 episodes) it barely registers with fans so for all intent and purposes Katie Griffin is considered the sole voice actor for Raye in the old dub.

Keiko Han did not make Luna sound as young as some people around here like to claim. She definitely sounds like a woman in her 20s and not a girl a year younger than Usagi. Yet, in PGSM, she turns into a girl who looks like she's about 10. So...... I know that not everyone likes Sailor Luna, but if Naoko and Toei had no problem with adult woman-sounding plush toy Luna turning into a little girl, I don't get why anyone should think anything of Jill Frappier's Queen Victoria meets C3-PO Luna assuming the human form she assumes in the S movie (especially since one can easily infer that she just uses Christmas/Silver Crystal magic to assume the form of Princess Kaguya, and not her intrinsic human form).
Still... Since Tracey Moore was originally going to audition for Luna, presumably at first they did plan to give Luna a voice closer to Keiko's. I wonder when/why they changed direction? (Maybe after casting Tracey they wanted to make sure Luna had a more distinctive and authoritative voice?)

Fans will continue to point to the S movie as why Luna shouldn’t sound like a stuffy british Mary Poppins type (despite the fact it fits her personality and role) because of her youthful human appearance. This being a single not important to the main timeline movie of the entire series.
But Sailor Moon very specifically states “Luna, become Princess Kaguya!” in context of the old dub she’s not becoming her human form (its insinuated in the old dub being a cat is her true form) she’s becoming Princess Kaguya.
Still in just a couple of decades when the Crystal decide to go Starts she is going to have a very real human form. And I doubt they ever planned to use different VAs in English. But we are just speculating, even if they used most of the old VAs for a redub the direction would have been so different that no one can really say if they would have sound any better and if the audio mixing problem would have still been an issue.
I will say, as much as I don't mind Luna's English dub voice, I think her keeping that voice as "Princess Kaguya" was a bad move. In the Italian dub, Luna's human voice is very different from her normal voice. I feel like it would've made more sense to have somebody else (maybe even Jen Gould?) fill in for that scene.
Then again, out of all of the bad casting/voice acting in that film, human Luna was probably the least offensive.

^I personally enjoyed that Optimum cast Jeff Lumby and Jen Gould as lovers in the Hearts in Ice movie and then cast them as father and daughter in S less than a year later. Like what the hell Optimum?
The Outers though. Barbara’s Michelle gets out okay I suppose but Sabrina sounds worse there than she did in R and oh my lord was John Stocker clueless on Uranus’s character. Poor Sarah Lafleur.
Everyone else is up to the usual standard of the final 17 episodes of R. Obvious declined from the syndication era episodes but still better than the Cloverway era

Azteca announced the premiere will happen on Saturday, October 27th. Without giving the timeslot.
Strangely, they called the main character "Usagi" instead of "Serena" in one of their FB posts. Guess it was a mistake from the social media people.
EDIT: They also said "Dark Kingdom" instead of "Negaverso". Maybe Toei made the dubbers go back to the original names, like in Portugal?

I think Dark Kingdom will stay, Negaverso is just a stupid name and it's not necessary to keep it.
But Serena I think they are keeping it.

I also saw post with Japanese names on it. I guess they will just use the old VAs but Toei pressed them to make it true to the original as everywhere else in the world. I really think it is better not using old nostalgic names and terms as it evokes people compare Crystal with the old show... And we know how this will end
