Today's sub checks!

Episode 153

Viz’s subs title the episode as “Dentist of Horrors? Palla-Palla's House”
No change

The dialogue of the masseuse coat is subbed as “Squeeze, squeeze, press, press…”
Changed to "Massage, massage...Push...push..."

Though Palla-Palla’s third-person speech is kept in the subs, there is an instance of the subs using the word “me” in this line: “Well… No one would play with me, so Palla-Palla is playing by herself.”
No change, but the dub addressed this with "Oh, well...No one would play, so Palla-Palla is playing all by herself."

Palla-Palla calling Zirconia “Oba-sama” is subbed as “Granny”

“Tama Yura” is subbed as “Evanescence Orb”

The first teeth frame is subbed like so:
“TSUKINO HOUSEHOLD
7:00 P.M. DINNER”

“Gochisoosama” is subbed as “- That was delicious!”

The clock on the frame changing to 7:01 is not subbed

The second teeth frame is subbed as “8:30 P.M. FAMILY TIME”

The third teeth frame is subbed as “10:30 P.M.”

The next one is subbed as “10:50 P.M.”

The clock on the frame changing to 10:51 is subbed as “10:51 P.M.”

Palla-Palla’s full “Tama Yura” attack is subbed a “Evanescence Orb! Palla-Palla House, Fun Dentist Edition!”

Mamoru noticing that Chibiusa doesn’t look so good is subbed as “Chibi-Usa, where’s your energy?”
No changes

There is an animation error when Chibiusa answers Mamoru’s question above. When she gives her answer of “My head hurts.”, her lips are supposed to move. But in this version, they do not. Her lips move in the Pioneer DVD version, but not here. The error occurs around the 8:42-8:43 mark.
This is addressed, since Viz has Toei's new upscaled masters.

“Mako-chan no obento” is subbed as “Mako’s box lunch”
Changed to "Mako's picnic lunch"

When Minako pulls her eyes open to scare Chibiusa when explaining cavities, this scene of her doing so is given its own caption subs of “DROOPY EYES ERUDITE”
Changed to "DROOPY EYES AND KNOWLEDGEABLE"

And Usagi pulling down her own eyes to do the same thing is subbed as:
“SERIOUS EYES DREAMS OF
BECOMING A DOCTOR”
Changed to:
"SHE'S ALWAYS SERIOUS AND
DREAMS OF BECOMING A DOCTOR"

“Juban Shika” is subbed as “Juban Dentistry”.

The subs claim that Juban Dentistry has been around since 1628. I only bring this up since Pioneer’s subs said 1629 instead.

The sign on the Juban Dentistry door window is subbed as “EXAMINATION ROOM”

Usagi yelling “Oh my God!” in English is subbed like so.

Ikuko’s use of “Anata-tachi!” is subbed as “You two!”

And her use of “Mizuno-san-tachi” is subbed as “Ami and your friends”
No changes

The “Sutekina Haisha-san” sign on the Palla-Palla House is subbed as “Delightful Dentistry”
Changed to "LOVELY DENTISTRY"

The nurse’s use of “Tsukino-san” is subbed as “Miss Tsukino”
No change

Usagi and Chibiusa referring to the dentist office as “Suteki!” is subbed as “- Delightful!”
Changed to " - Lovely!"

The subs have Palla-Palla use the words “my”’ and “I” in these lines:
“They’re my last targets for today.”
“I haven’t had success all day. Palla-Palla isn’t having fun.”
These are changed to the following:
"Hmm...Are they our last targets for today?"
"Palla-Palla hasn't had success all day. This isn't fun at all!"

Palla-Palla’s title is subbed as “Palla-Palla the Ball Balancer.”
Changed to "Ball Balancing Palla-Palla"

Spoken by Palla-Palla, “Dakara chotto dake, anata-tachi yume kagami misete moraimasu!” is subbed as “So I’m going to look at your Dream Mirrors for a bit!”

Tuxedo Mask’s speech is subbed as “I can’t forgive a fake dentist who uses a cowardly trap to snare innocent young girls who love sweets more than anything!”

Palla-Palla’s use of “Mou!” when Tuxedo Mask interferes is subbed as “Oh pooh!”

“- Moon Crisis Make Up!” is subbed like so.
No changes

The subs have Palla-Palla use the word “I” in this line: “Palla-Palla doesn’t like you! I want you to die!” It seems that the subs are only going to have her use her third-person speech in just the places where she specifically says her own name in the Japanese dialogue.
Changed to "Palla-Palla doesn't like you! So die!"

The Double Moon speech is subbed like so:
Sailor Moon: “We won’t let that happen! Dentists are scary enough as it is!”
Chibi Moon: “We can’t forgive you for making them even scarier!”
Sailor Moon: “We are the Pretty Guardians…”
Chibi Moon: “…who fight for love and for justice!”
Sailor Moon: “I am Sailor Moon!”
Chibi Moon: “I am Sailor Chibi Moon!”
Sailor Moon: “In the name of the Moon…”
Both of them: “- …we’ll punish you!”
Changed to the following:
Sailor Moon: “We won’t let that happen! Dentists are scary enough as it is!”
Chibi Moon: “We can’t forgive you for making them even more scary!”
Sailor Moon: “We are the Pretty Guardians…”
Chibi Moon: “…who fight for love and for justice!”
Sailor Moon: “I am Sailor Moon!”
Chibi Moon: “And I am Sailor Chibi Moon!”
Sailor Moon: “In the name of the Moon…”
Both of them: “- …we’ll punish you!”

When Palla-Palla asks Double Moon if they’ve come to play with her, Sailor Moon’s answer is subbed as “We intend to destroy you.”
Changed to "No, we came here to beat you!"

GariGari’s name is spelled as “Gari-Gari” in the subs, and her title is subbed as “Gari-Gari the girl who grinds for fun.”
Changed to "Gari-Gari, the Grinding and Playing Turbine Girl"

Her “Gari gari gari” dialogue is kept in the subs.
No change

Sailor Moon’s use of “Shimatta!” is subbed as “Darn!”
Changed to "Oh, no!"

“Onegai, Pegasus, minna no yume wo mamotte!” is subbed as “Please, Pegasus! Protect everyone’s dream!”
No change

In the next-episode preview, “idol” is subbed as “pop star”.
Changed to "idol"

The subs title the next episode as “Clash of Dreams: Minako and Makoto’s Broken Friendship.”
No change

With that, disc 1 is complete! Onward to disc 2!

Episode 154
The the top of the poster is subbed as “BAZAAR”
No change

The bottom of the poster is subbed as “HONJO PRESCHOOL”
Changed to "AT HONJO PRESCHOOL"

Chibiusa’s calling Usagi “hogo-sha” is subbed as “guardian”.

“Honjo-san” is subbed as “Mr. Honjo”

Minako referring to herself and the other older girls as “oneesan-tachi” is subbed as the “We” in “We’ll”

Viz’s subs title the episode as “Clash of Dreams: Minako and Makoto's Broken Friendship”
No changes

There is a technical typo in the subs for this inner thought of Minako’s: “And to be principal at such a young age—that’s so impressive.”
Changed this line to "And the fact that he's a principal at such a young age is so cool..."

There is a video glitch at the 3:39 mark where the overhead shot of the school remains in Mr. Honjo’s silhouette for a frame when the shot changes to a shot of him looking out the window. Here is a screencap of the glitch.
Addressed with thew new JP upscaled master.

There is a typo in the subs for this line of Mr. Honjo’s: “That’s we’re going to use the money we raise at this bazaar to build a flower garden.” There should be a “why” between “That’s” and “we’re”.
Changed to "That's why I'm hoping to raise enough money from this bazaar to build them a flower garden."

The little words that Kotaro sings as he draws on Minako’s cheek are subbed as “Scribble, scribble.”
No change

(As an aside, when Vix gets around to dubbing this episode, Wendee Lee would be absolutely PERFECT for Kotaro.)
Kotaro doesn't sound like Wendee Lee in the dub...but, I could be wrong.

The beginning of Minako expressing her frustration over Kotaro after he leaves the room is subbed as the four-letter D-word “D***!”
Changed the entire line to "More obstacles popping up one after another!"

“Zirconia-obaba” is subbed as “Granny Zirconia”

Cere-Cere’s title is subbed here as “Flower Master Cere-Cere”, when it was subbed back in episode 150 as “Cere-Cere the Flower Master”
No changes

The poster in full view is subbed like so:
“BAZAAR
HONJO PRESCHOOL”
Changed to the following:
"BAZZAT AT HONJO PRESCHOOL"

“Kuma-san” is subbed as “teddy bear”

Mr. Honjo’s use of “Kino-san” is subbed as “Miss Kino”

“Kuma-chan” is subbed as “teddy bears”

Makoto’s use of “Sou ka…” at the 7:15 mark is not subbed.

None of Kotaro’s “Yay!” cries as he’s chased by Minako are subbed.
No changes

Artemis’s use of “Mina no yatsu” is subbed as “That Minako!”
Changed to "That Mina..."

Usagi commenting on how hard it’s going to be to clean up the mess Minako made is bizarrely subbed as a very different comment: “Cleaning up must’ve been too much trouble.” No one’s even started cleaning yet when she says this.
Changed to "I guess she didn't want to bother cleaning up the mess."

“Honjo-san no Love Love Heart” is subbed as “Mr. Honjo’s heart”
Changed the entire line to "My singing will make Mr. Honjo fall head over heels for me."

The sign outside the preschool is subbed as “HONJO PRESCHOOL BAZAAR”

None of the signs on the booths outside the school are subbed.

None of the signs on the building across the street are subbed.

Makoto’s “Yatta” as she flips over the okonomiyaki at the 11:08 mark is not subbed.
No changes

There is a major animation error at the 11:26-11:28 mark. In a close up shot of Usagi, the shot is frozen as her mouth stays closed and does not move when she says the line “About her breaking the toy,” This error is not present on the Pioneer DVD version, as her mouth does move in that version. It’s especially jarring since this isn’t some far away shot but a close up of her face.
Addressed with thew new JP upscaled master.

After that, while Makoto's trying to fix the spatula, the Hulu subs has Rei say "She's pretty angry, all right." The home video subs changed it to "She's pretty pissed, all right."

When “Route Venus” starts playing, only the first line’s lyrics are subbed (as “Don’t forget about me…”). The rest of the song’s lyrics are not subbed.
Changed to add more lyrics like so:
"Don't forget about me"
"I love you the most
And it still hurts me"
"But I'll be watching from here"
"The dawn of the desert"

BONUS: Cherami Leigh dubbed this song, so I'll add her version of the lyrics as well:
"Please remember that I will never forget"
(couldn't hear the part while the rest are talking)
"I'll be watching you from here"
"The dawn of the desert"

The banner over Minako’s stage is subbed like so:
“POP MUSIC’S BIGGEST NEW IDOL
MINAKO AINO
RECITAL AND AUTOGRAPH SESSION”

“Aino Minako On Stage!” is subbed as “Minako Aino on Stage!”

The text background behind the first lollypop-licking child is subbed as “EVER HEARD OF HER?”

The text background behind the second lollypop-licking child is subbed as “NEVER SAW HER BEFORE?”

The text background behind the third lollypop-licking child is subbed as “NOT ON TV?”

The text background behind the fourth lollypop-licking child is subbed as “NOT POPULAR?”

None of the price tags of the items for sale are subbed.

Chibi Moon: “We can’t forgive you for ruining the bazaar!”
Mars/Mercury: “-We are the Sailor Team!”
Sailor Moon: “In the name of the Moon…”
All four of them: “- …we’ll punish you!”
Changed to the following:
Sailor Moon: “Hold it right there! A bazaar is a place where everyone's dreams come together!”

Mars/Mercury: “-We are the Sailor Guardians!”
Sailor Moon: “In the name of the Moon…”
All four of them: “- …we’ll punish you!”

“Hana Lemures” is subbed as “Flower Lemures”

JaraJara Jou’s name is spelled as “Ms. Jyara-Jyara”, and her title is subbed as “Ms. Jyara Jyara the dream-eating tulip.”

No changes

Changed to "Oh, no!"

Venus: “Your squabble ends now!”

Episode 155
Ves-Ves calling Zirconia “Baba” is subbed as “Grandma”
Changed to "Granny"

There is a typo in the subs of this line of Zirconia’s: “When are going to to find the possessor of the Golden Mirror?” There should be a “you” between “are” and “going”
Changed to "When are you going to find the one possessing the Golden Mirror?!"

In this line of Zirconia’s, the E in “Earth” is lowercased instead of capitalized: “Can these girls really conquer the earth?” Since the word being translated as “the earth” is “sekai” (“world”), it makes more sense for the E to be uppercased since it’s the name of the planet and not referring to soil or the ground.
Changed to "Can we really conquer the world at this rate?"

The big Sports Fair sign on the overhead platform is subbed as “SPORTS FAIR”
Changed to "SPORTS DAY"

Viz’s subs title the episode as “Overcome Your Fear: The Jump to Freedom”
No change

“Obento” is subbed as “box lunches”
Changed to just "lunch"

Minako’s use of “sempai” is subbed as “older student”
Changed the line to "I remember cheering at the top of my lungs for my favorite senior when he was running in the final relay race."

The characters referring to the sports fair is subbed as “sports day”
No change

The PSA that accompanies Kyusuke’s dangerous stunt is subbed like so:
“THIS IS DANGEROUS.
DO NOT IMITATE.”
Changed to the following:
"THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS.
DO NOT IMITATE. EVER!"

The subs for this line of Chibiusa’s (spoken to Kyusuke) confused me: “It sure is! You don’t even know because you even practice!” Turning to the Pioneer subs for comparison, that translation has Chibiusa stating that Kyusuke didn’t know because he doesn’t practice. So I’m guessing that there’s a “don’t” missing between the second occurrences of the words “you” and “even”. Kyusuke’s later insistence in these subs that he doesn’t need to practice supports this.
Changed to “It sure is! You don’t even know because you weren't paying attention during practice.”

Chibiusa’s use of “minna-sama” is subbed as “everyone”.

The sign on the P.A. booth is subbed… well, this is what it looks like: “P .A. BOOTH” I’m not entirely sure if that first period really is spaced away from the “P” as it looks to be, or if it’s just the formatting of Hulu’s subtitled that makes it look like there’s a space between the “P” and the dot.
No changes

Kyusuke’s “Kuso!” (when he tries to brush off his fears of vaulting) is subbed as the four-letter D-word “D***!”
Changed to "D*** it!" (Yeah, it's the same, but add "it" to it)

The sign outside the park is subbed as “JUBAN PARK”
No change

As Makoto instructs Chibiusa on how to vault, she uses the word “timing” in her instructions, but which is not included in the subs: “Okay, Chibi-Usa, the important thing is the push off and your hand placement.” She uses the word in regards to the timing of Chibiusa’s hand placement, while the subs claim that the placement itself, rather than the timing of the placement, is what’s important.
Changed to "Now remember, Chibi-Usa. The most important part is to find the right moment to jump and place your hands."

Minako’s “Okay yo!” is subbed as “Ready here!”
Changed to "We're ready!"

As Chibiusa crashes into Usagi, her “BA! …ka Usagi!” is only half-subbed. As she was saying “Baka” in two parts, her “BA!” is not subbed while her “…ka Usagi!” is subbed as “…pid Usagi!”
Changed to "Usagi, you idiot!"

As Kyusuke gets up after his own crash into the vault box, his “Kuso…” is subbed as the four-letter D-word “D***…”
Changed to "D*** it!" (Yeah, it's the same, but add "it" to it)

The chalkboard in the empty classroom that Kyusuke practices outside of is not subbed.
Added subs like so:
"LET'S WIN WHITE TEAM!"

Kyusuke’s “Kuso” after his morning practice continues to backfire on him is subbed as the four-letter D-word “D***.”
Changed to "Darn it."

“- Moon Crisis Make Up!” is subbed like so.

“Mercury Crystal Power Make Up!”, “Mars Crystal Power Make Up!”, “Jupiter Crystal Power Make Up!”, and “Venus Crystal Power Make Up!” are subbed like so.

During the transformation sequence, the “SAILOR… SOLDIER…” background music is kept fully intact.
No changes

As the Double Moon give their speech, the sign they stand under is not subbed.
Added subs like so:
"ENTRANCE GATE"

The Double Moon speech is subbed like so:
Sailor Moon: “Hold it right there! We came here to practice just for this event, only to find you doing this! You’re a nuisance to the neighborhood! I am the Pretty Guardian”
Chibi Moon: “who fights for love and for justice,”
Sailor Moon: “I am Sailor Moon!”
Chibi Moon: “I am Sailor Chibi Moon!”
Sailor Moon: “In the name of the Moon,”
Both of them: “- we’ll punish you!”
Changed to the following:
Sailor Moon: “Hold it right there! We came early to practice just for this event, only to find you doing this! You’re a nuisance to the neighborhood, you know that?! We are the Pretty Guardians...”
Chibi Moon: “...who fights for love and for justice!”
Sailor Moon: “I am Sailor Moon!”
Chibi Moon: “And I am Sailor Chibi Moon!”
Sailor Moon: “In the name of the moon,”
Both of them: “- we’ll punish you!”

Jun-Jun’s reaction to the Sailor Senshi’s arrival is subbed as “You people just ooze out from anywhere.”
Changed to "Man, you guys keep popping up everywhere."

Tobikiri Yarou’s name is spelled as “Tobikiri Dude” in the subs, and his title is subbed as “Tobikiri Dude, the dream-eating acrobat!”
No change

The signs on the booths behind Tobikiri Yarou are subbed as “JUBAN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL”
Added sub on the sign behind Tobikiri Yarou's entrance to "EXIT GATE". The sign, while Tobikiri's flying has not changed.

Mars’s attack is subbed as “Mars Flame!” “Sni…”
Changed to "Mars Flame" "Sni..."

Changed to the 4-letter D word "D*** you!"

Changed to "It's almost like he's going to be staying up there forever."

“Onegai, Pegasus, minna no yume wo mamotte!” is subbed as “Please, Pegasus! Protect everyone’s dream!”
No change

Tobikiri Yarou’s final “Stage Out desu ne! Sayonara!” before his death is subbed as “Stage Out! Sayonara!”
Changed to "It's Stage Out for me!"

The little red “Faito da!” flag in the cheering crowd is not subbed.

“Ichiban!” is subbed as “First place!”
No changes

The angry note on the bent pole is subbed like so:
“WILL THE STUDENT
WHO BENT THE POLE
TURN HIM/HERSELF IN—PRINCIPAL”
Changed to the following:
“WILL THE STUDENT WHO BENT
THE POLE, PLEASE TURN
HIM/HERSELF IN—PRINCIPAL”

In the next-episode preview, the subs title the next episode as “Don’t Lost Sight of Your Dreams: The Mirror of Truth.”
No change

Episode 156
And, right out of the gate, the subs jump into making pun that doesn’t exist in the dialogue. When Luna describes Chibiusa’s portrait of Usagi as “Kanpeki” (meaning “perfection”), the subs translated it as “Purrfect!” Ya know, cuz Luna’s a cat and all? Ugh.
Changed the line to "Nice, Chibi-Usa. Looks exactly like her." This removes the cat pun, Even the dub is close to what the sub said.

Consistent with episodes of previous seasons, “Nikuman” is subbed as “pork buns”.

Viz’s subs title the episode as “Don't Lose Sight of Your Dreams: the Mirror of Truth”
No changes

In the post-title card scene, the subs have Chibiusa say “I treated you to a pork bun, so we had a deal!” The problem here is that we can see that she treated Usagi to a bunch of nikuman rather than just one, so “a pork bun” ought to be “pork buns”. And the subs did say “pork buns” back in the pre-title card scene, so the subs in this scene ought to be consistent with those in that scene as well.
Changed to "Look, I already kept my end of the bargain by treating you to some pork buns, didn't I?!"

Usagi’s response to Chibiusa saying the above line about their deal is subbed as “It’s up to me what I do with it!” Do with what, exactly? I don’t understand what this line is supposed to mean, as the scene depicts Usagi about to punch Chibiusa in the head.
Changed to "So I get to decide what I want to do with it."

“Ekaki-san da,” is subbed as “An artist.”

The artist’s sign is subbed as “PORTRAITS 1500 YEN”
No changes

After Usagi asks what the woman doesn’t like about her portrait, the artist’s “Anno…” is not subbed.
Added sub of the artist saying "Uh..."

Nor is his “Anno…” subbed when he tries to get the attention of Usagi and the arguing ladies.
Added sub of the artist saying "Excuse me..."

There is a video glitch at the 5:19 mark where a piece of the next shot appear in the corner of the frame before the shot of Palla-Palla and Cere-Cere changes to the next shot of Zirconia. Here is a screencap of said glitch.
This is addressed with the newly-acquired upscaled masters from Toei.

Cere-Cere’s use of “Ekaki” is subbed as “A painter”
No change

The subs add a “Just kidding!” to the end of Usagi’s explaining why she’s posing with a nikuman.
This part of the sub was removed.

“Kamoi-san” is subbed as “Mr. Kamoi”
No change

“ATSU!” (“HOT!” ) is subbed as “Fire!”
Changed to "Hot!"

“Gochisoosama deshita” is subbed as “Thank you for the meal.”

“Gaka” is subbed as “artist”
No changes

Kamoi’s use of “onee-san” is subbed as “this older girl”
Changed to "big sister"

The sign outside the shrine is subbed as “HIKAWA SHRINE”

“Hajimemashite” is subbed as “Nice to meet you.”

“Ojō-san” is subbed as “Miss”
No changes

There is a typo in the subs for this line of Cere-Cere’s: “The truth is, last year, I lost my father who was an art dealer last year.” The second “last year” doesn’t need to be there.
Changed to "The truth is, I lost my father, who was an art dealer, last year."

Makoto’s asking where Kamoi is is subbed as “Whereabouts is he?” While technically not incorrect, it’s a very weird phrasing to come from someone like her who doesn’t speak that way.
Changed to "So, where is he?"

The letter written by Kamoi on the back of Usagi’s portrait, which Chibiusa reads aloud, is subbed like so:
“Miss Usagi Tsukino,” (this is what “Tsukino Usagi-sama is subbed as)
“You’ve helped me greatly.”
“I’ve collapsed from hunger several times before…”
“but you were the first ones who ever took me to their home”
“for a good meal.”
“I am a shy person who has a hard time saying a proper thank you,”
“but the fried rice you made for me”
“is a taste I will never forget for as long as I live.”
“Thank you so much.”
Changed to the following:
"Dear Miss Usagi Tsukino,"
"I can't thank you enough for your hospitality."
"I've collapsed from hunger several times before..."
“but you were the first ones who ever took me to their home”
“for a good meal.”
"I was too shy to properly thank you then."
"But I will never forget the taste of the fried rice you made for me"
"for as long as I live."

The Viz dub handled this like so:
"Dear Miss Usagi, thank you for your hospitality..."
"I've passed out from hunger before,"
"but that was the first time someone took me to their home."
"You made me feel welcome, And cooked a hearty meal for me." (Don't know why the A in "and" needs to be capitalized.)
"For that I'm eternally grateful."
"I was too embarrassed, and too hungry,"
"to say all of this to you."
"But I'll never forget the taste of that fried rice"
"for as long as I live."
"Thank you"

Spoken by Cere-Cere, “Anata no yume no kagami misete da dekimasu wa!” is subbed as “Let me see your Dream Mirror!”
No change

The Double Moon speech is subbed like so:
Sailor Moon: “Hold it right there! How dare you mess with an artist who’s lived a pure, true and beautiful, but poor life. You’re unforgivable! We are the Pretty Guardians”
Chibi Moon: “who fight for love and for justice!”
Sailor Moon: “I am Sailor Moon!”
Chibi Moon: “I am Sailor Chibi Moon!”
Sailor Moon: “In the name of the Moon,”
Both of them: “- we’ll punish you!”
Changed to the following:
Sailor Moon: "Hold i tright there! How dare you seduce a poor, but pure beautiful-minded artist who's trying to make an honest living. We won't forgive you for this! We are the Pretty Guardians"
Chibi Moon: “who fight for love and for justice!”
Sailor Moon: “I am Sailor Moon!”
Chibi Moon: “And I am Sailor Chibi Moon!”
Sailor Moon: “In the name of the Moon,”
Both of them: “- we’ll punish you!”

Cere-Cere’s reaction to seeing the two Senshi, and their response to her reaction, is subbed like so:
Cere-Cere: “Oh, if it isn’t doofus and dumpy.”
Sailor Moon: “What’?! How dare you!” (yes, there’s an apostrophe in there that shouldn’t be)
Chibi Moon: “Yeah! She’s definitely a doofus, but don’t hold it against her.”
Sailor Moon: “What?! She called us that because you’re such a shrimp!”
Chibi Moon: “I can’t help it, I’m a kid!”
Changed to the following:
Cere-Cere: "Oh my, if it isn't the uneven duo."
Sailor Moon: "What?! How dare you!"
Chibi Moon: "Yeah! She's definitely uneven in certain places, but it's not her fault!"
Sailor Moon: "What?! She called us that because you're such a shrimp!"
Chibi Moon: "I can't help it, I'm a kid."

Chibi Moon’s use of “Tamatsuki” when clarifying what Cere-Cere means by “billiards” is subbed as “pool”, when Cere-Cere’s use of “Tamatsuki” is subbed as “Orb Shot”, as it has been since Ves-Ves first used it back in episode 150.
Changed to where she describes billiards: "I think it's that game where you strike balls."

“Hana Lemures” is subbed as “Flower Lemures”

TogeToge Jou’s name is subbed as “Ms. Toge-Toge”, and her title is subbed as “Ms. Toge-Toge, the dream-eating rose!”

Her “Toge toge!” dialogue is kept in the subs.

Togetoge Jou’s remarking on how filthy the mirror is is subbed as “It’s filthy. Toge.” The “Toge” part here is what’s off since, unlike her other lines, this particular line of dialogue did not have her ending this line with a “Toge”.

“Onegai, Pegasus, minna no yume wo mamotte!” is subbed as “Please, Pegasus! Protect everyone’s dream!”

The text of Chibiusa’s portrait of Usagi is subbed like so:

Changed to "Well you didn't have to hit me."

The “Daisuki” text behind the depressed Kyusuke is subbed as “LOVE”

There is a small typo in this line of Hiroki’s: “I want to make my dream come true with just my St.Louis and me.” There should be a space between “St.” and “Louis”
No changes

Chibiusa’s “A-Anno” when Hiroki hands her back her jacket is not subbed.
Added sub of "Huh? But..."

Pegasus saying that he wants to see Hiroki’s plane when it flies is subbed instead as him saying that he wants to see “The place where Hiroki’s plane flies.”

Changed to "Then I'll show it you, Pegasus! I'll show you Hiroki's plane."

When Chibiusa says “It’ll be okay! I’ll take care of it!” the picture freezes with her mouth open and not moving. BUT, this same error appears in the Pioneer DVDs, so it isn’t a fault of, or fixable by, Viz.
No change, even in the newly-acquired upscaled masters.

Usagi’s use of “love-love” is actually kept in the subs.
Changed to "love-dovey"

“Pasokon tsūshin” is subbed in this episode as “the web”
Changed to "web seminar"

There is a video glitch at the 6:19 mark where the shot of Chibiusa telling Usagi to get out since she’s going to sleep is blended together with the next shot of Usagi making her way out of the room. Here is a screencap of the glitch.
This is addressed with the newly-acquired upscaled masters from Toei.

Chibi Moon: “I am the Pretty Guardian who fights for love and for justice. I am Sailor Chibi Moon.”
Ves-Ves: “I asked if you’re by yourself today!”
Chibi Moon: “In the name of the Moon, I’ll punish you!”
Ves-Ves: “That’s not what I asked you! Did you come alone today?”
Chibi Moon: “I can take care of you by myself!”
Changed to the following:
Chibi Moon “Hold it right there!A boy living his youth to soar though the heavens! I won't let you take away the wings in Hiroki's heart!
Ves-Ves: “Oh, just you today?”
Chibi Moon: “I am the Pretty Guardian who fights for love and for justice! I am Sailor Chibi Moon.”

Sailor Moon: “What’ve you done?! How dare you go after children who haven’t finished their homework yet!”
Chibi Moon: “That’s you!”
Sailor Moon: “Never mind! Follow my lead!”
Chibi Moon: “We won’t forgive you for ruining their dreams!”
Sailor Moon: “I am the Pretty Guardian…”
Chibi Moon: “…who fights for love and for justice!”
Sailor Moon: “I am Sailor Moon.”
Chibi Moon: “I am Sailor Chibi Moon.”
Sailor Moon: “In the name of the Moon…”
Both of them: “- …we’ll punish you!”

Sailor Moon: “I am Sailor Moon.”
Chibi Moon: “And I am Sailor Chibi Moon.”
Sailor Moon: “In the name of the Moon…”
Both of them: “- …we’ll punish you!”

Beginning with the subs for Palla-Palla’s line of “Think how Palla-Palla feels—every one was a miss!”, the subtitles for this episode begin to appear onscreen too early, sometimes even disappearing before the characters finish speaking their dialogue. This subtitle timing error lasts throughout the rest of the episode.
Changed to "Try putting yourself in Palla-Palla's shoes! They were all blanks, you know!" Also, the timing has been fixed.

“Gyaku Tama” is subbed as “Opposite Orb!”
No change

None of the arguing between Sailor Moon and Chibi Moon as PallaPalla switches their ages is subbed, but it was all subbed by Pioneer (without attributing the lines to either character) like so:
“You’re saying how you want to be an adult right now, but you still have to study lots!
“Skipping over all of that to be an adult – that’s what I am saying is selfish!”
“What’s this about being lazy!?”
“I won’t say that I’m not lazy at all, but you don’t have to say it so bluntly…”
“I don’t want you of all people calling me selfish!”
“So what!?”
“So you’re the one that’s selfish! A selfish sloth saying selfish things!”
They did add the subs like so:
"- Only someone who's super lazy would think
-And what do you I'm lazy?!"
"- of something like waning to be a kid again!
- I mean, yeah, okay, I might be lazy at times,"
"- You're selfish and lazy! Selfish and lazy!
- but you don't have to be so direct about it!"

The first “Onegai, Pegasus, minna no yume wo mamotte!” is subbed as “Please, Pegasus! Protect everyone’s dream!”
No change

The Guardian Senshi speech is subbed like so:
Mars: “- Hold it right there!” (She was the only one speaking, so I don’t know why these subs were given the multiple speaker treatment of having a dash at the beginning and appearing onscreen in doubled form. The rest of her lines, however, are rendered correctly for a single person) “Looks like you’re putting on quite a show in broad daylight” (no punctuation here, though)
Jupiter: “Better not get too carried away, or you’ll regret it later!”
Venus: “From here on, we’ll take you on!”
This was addressed as they added the sub for Palla-Palla's line right below Mars' line, like so:
Mars: "- Hold it right there!
Palla-Palla: "- Huh?"
Jupiter: You are know how to stir up trouble in broad daylight! Don't get carried away, or just might regret it."
Venus: "Now you're going to have to deal with us!"

Episode 159
There is a grammatical typo in the subs for Pegasus’s opening line of “The world I live on, Elysion, was a world supported by the beautiful dreams of the people of Earth.” The word “on” should be “in”.
They didn't address the "on/in" part, but they changed this line to "The world I live on, Elysion, used to be a world supported by the beautiful dreams of Earth." The dub, however, made the change to "The world I live in, Elysion, used to be supported by the beautiful dreams of the people of Earth..."

Pegasus’s description of those who are after the Golden Crystal is subbed as “They came from the chaotic darkness of the New Moon.

Viz’s subs title the episode as “Chibi-Usa's Little Rhapsody of Love”
No changes

There is a spelling typo in the subs for Chibi-Usa’s line of “What is the Golden Crystal that can save Elymion like?” I’m guessing ya’ll can tell which word is misspelled. ;)
Changed to fix the spelling, and changed the line to "So this Golden Crystal that can save Elysion...What does it look like?"

"Both happiness and sorrow"
"Only exists inside my dream"
"Love is a Lonely Lonely heart"
"But I hope that one day"
"I will hold me tight in your arms"
"I want to be together with you..."

“Unmei” is subbed as “destiny”

“Momo-chan” is subbed as “Momo”
No changes

Makoto’s answer as to who Chibiusa was talking to is subbed as “…a senpai.” Again with keeping of that word after all this time of the subs’ avoiding it.
Changed the line to "...found a senior at her school."Also, translated "senpai" as "senior", as if Makoto's talking about an older man, Chibiusa's in love with. The dub also goes on that route.

The subs for Ami’s line of “Mako, you have to explain first.” Appear onscreen just a tad late, appearing only after Ami had already finished saying “Mako-chan”.
Changed to fix the timing and the line itself as "Mako, I believe your explanation is somewhat out of context."

“Koi” is subbed as “love” in this episode.
Changed to "In love?!"

Makoto’s thinking it’s a senpai and wondering what he’s like are subbed as “Yes, I wonder what sort of senpai he is…”
Translated "senpai" as "senior student".

Rei’s questioning Makoto’s thinking is subbed as “How can you be so sure he’s her senpai?”
Changed the line to "Why are you asserting that he's a senior student." Also, "senpai" is translated as "senior student". The dub, however, changed it to omit the translation of "senpai", but have Rei say, "Yeah, you really need to stop saying that."

Minako’s use of “onee-sama” is subbed as “older sisters”
Changed to omit the use of "onee-sama", and had her say "Yes, we'll be ready to offer our years of experience to help support her."

Changed to "There's nothing wrong with falling in love with a senior at your school."

Rei’s reaction to this senpai line is subbed as “Why do you always assume it’s a senpai?!”
Changed to "Why do you always assume it's a senior at her school?!"

In the ice cream shop, none of the background chatter heard before Minako and Ami start talking to Chibiusa is subbed, except for just the first “Irasshaimase” that is subbed as “Welcome.”

No changes

Chibiusa saying that the guy she thinks about is the color white (“iro ga shirokute”) is subbed as “he has a white coat.” Likewise, Minako’s and Ami’s reaction to this (“Iro ga…” “…Shiroi?”) is subbed as “A white…” “…coat?”

Minako: "He's white..."
Ami: "and silky?"

Chibiusa’s description of the guy’s face is subbed as “His face is…vertically long.”
No change

There is a small typo in Minako’s reaction to the above: “Vertically long? !” There is a space between the two punctuation marks, which should not be there.
Changed to fix the typo with "Vertically long?!"

The little whisper conversation that Ami and Minako have after hearing Chibiusa’s description is subbed like so:
Minako: “Ami! Does she mean long like a horse?”
Ami: “Long like a horse? Wait, Minako, you mean d—”
Minako: “What?”
Ami: “It’s so vulgar, I can’t say it.”
Minako: “What? Is he so vulgar you can’t even say it?”
Ami: “That has a different meaning.”
Minako: “- What meaning is that?”
Chibiusa: “- Good grief…”
Changed to the following:
Minako: "Ami! Does she mean this boy's face is long like a horse?"
Ami: "Long like a horse? Minako Are you saying he's a housefa-"
Minako: "What?"
Ami: "I can't say it. It's too vulgar."
Minako: "What? You mean this guy is so vulgar, you can't even say it?!"
Ami: "No! That's not what I meant."
Minako: "-Then what do you mean?"
Chibiusa: "-Good grief."

The dub took this part to a new direction though to the following:
Minako: "Hey Ami, it sounds to me like this guy's a real horse's butt."
Ami: "Horse butt? No, Minako. I think you meant to say he's a jacka-"
Minako: "What?"
Ami: "No, I can't say it. It's too vulgar."
Minako: "What?? You mean he's too vulgar to talk about?!"

Chibiusa’s use of “lucky” is kept in the subs.
No changes

Mamoru asking Chibiusa how much longer she’ll want to go on dates with him is a little awkwardly subbed as “How much longer will you want to come with me on a date.” There’s also the typo of there being a period instead of a question mark at the end.
Changed to "Still, I wonder how long before you stop wanting to go out on a date with me."

Ami’s describing the guy feeding the koi fish with the same descriptions that Chibiusa gave them about Pegasus’s color and face is subbed as “He’s wearing white… and he has a long face!”
No change

The guy’s addressing Jun-Jun’s appearing before him is subbed as “Are you here to see me?”
Changed to "Is there something I can do for you?"

“Zirconia-obaba” is again subbed as “Grandma Zirconia”
No change

The Sailor Senshi speech is subbed like so:

No change

His “Koi koi koi…”, “Paku paku paku…”, and “Sui sui sui…” dialogue is all kept in the subs.
Changed to "Come, come, come, come...", "Gulp gulp, gulp!" and "Swim, swim, swim..." The dub replaced some of these with actual fish sounds, like popping sound for when Chibi Moon is sliding down to his mouth, when the sub had "Come, come, come..."

Tuxedo Mask’s speech is subbed as “If a young lady is troubled by love, I will appear!”
Changed to "Where there's a young lady troubled by love, I'll be there!"

“Onegai, Pegasus, minna no yume wo mamotte!” is subbed as “Please, Pegasus! Protect everyone’s dream!”
No change

The subs for Rei’s line of “Everything works out, Chibi-Usa.” seem like they would make more sense if “works” were changed to “worked”, as in “Everything worked out, Chibi-Usa.” Since Rei’s referring to how they’ve stopped the enemy (in the past tense) from interfering.
Changed to "I'm glad everything worked out, Chibi-Usa."

In the next-episode preview, the subs title the next episode as “Dream to be an Adult: The Amazoness’ Confusion.”
No change

Changed to add the sub "JUBAN CIVIC HALL"

The sign Ami reads aloud is subbed as “Friends of the Coming-of-Age Celebration”
Changed to "Friends & Supporters of the Coming-of-Age Celebration"

As the word “arubaito” means “part-time job” in Japanese, it comes from the word “arbeit”, which means “labor” in German. When Usagi questions Minako about her use of “arubaito” making everyone think she meant a part-time job (with pay), her questioning and the clarifying from Minako and Ami of what “arbeit” means are subbed like so:
Usagi: “I thought you said it was a job, an arbeit !” (yes, there is a typo space there before the exclamation point)
Minako: “Arbeit is Indian for “labor.””
Usagi: “What’s India got to do with me?!”
Ami: “Usagi, she’s mistaken. It’s German.”
Usagi: “Germany’s got nothing to do with this either!”
Changed to the following:
Usagi: "I thought you said it was a job, and arbeit!" (they did correct this typo)
Minako: “Well, arbeit is Indian for “labor.””
Usagi: “What’s India got to do with me?!”
Ami: “Usagi, she’s mistaken. It’s German.”
Usagi: “Germany’s got nothing to do with this either!”

Diana’s and Minako’s misquoting a saying, and Artemis’s correcting them both are subbed like so:
Diana: “I wanted to see what this “volunteer work” that needs a cat’s help looked like.”
Minako: “That’s very admirable of you. But the saying is “so busy we could even use a back scratcher’s help.””
Artemis: “It’s “cat’s help.””
Diana: “Please use this paw.”
Changed to the following:
Diana: I'm here to observe this so-called "volunteer" that requires a cat's paw."
Minako: "That's nice. But the saying is "so busy they could use a back scratcher.""
Artemis: "It's "cat's paw.""
Diana: "Then please use this paw."

Palla-Palla’s noticing that the banner doesn’t look right is subbed as “But it’s not pretty.” And her insistence is subbed as “But it isn’t pretty.”

The sign on the stage is subbed as “COMING-OF-AGE CEREMONY”

Cere-Cere’s “Boo hoo hoo desu wa!” is subbed as “This is embarrassing.”
No changes

Palla-Palla showing the others that she got a balloon is subbed as “Look what Palla-Palla!” I’m guessing there was supposed to be a “got” at the end of her sentence.
Changed to "Look what Palla-Palla got!"

At the 11:59 mark, there is a split-second blink-and-you’ll-miss-it glitch where the shot of the Quartet switches to a shot of Chibiusa via a transition that blends the two shots together with Ves-Ves and Cere-Cere visible through Chibiusa’s outline, which does not occur in any other version of the episode. Here is a screencap of the glitch.

When the shot of Chibiusa switches back to the shot of the Quartet at the 12:01 mark, there is another glitch where the Quartet’s mouths are each covered by a blob of color from the previous shot. Here is a screencap of the glitch.
Both instances were addressed in the newly-upscaled masters Viz obtained from Toei.

The Quartet’s chant, “Yume yume utagau koto nakare yume miru kodomo no yume no yume,” is subbed this time like so:
Cere-Cere: “Never ever forget to remember.”
Jun-Jun: “A child’s dream…”
Ves-Ves: “…is a dream of dreams.”
No change

When Usagi says to the Quartet “We thought you wouldn’t come.”, Ves-Ves’s response of “Why is that?” appears onscreen below the subs for Usagi’s line, making it appear well before Ves-Ves speaks her line and forcing Usagi’s line to have a “-“ dash in front of it (Ves-Ves’s “- Why is that?” has a dash as well). What’s more is that when Ves-Ves speaks her line, the “Why is that?” subs appear onscreen a second time, separate from the ones that appeared simulataneous to Usagi’s line, making Ves-Ves’s line appear onscreen twice: Once before she says it, and then again when she does.
This was fixed, so Ves-Ves' line doesn't appear twice, and the dashes are removed, during Usagi's line.

Jun-Jun’s “Kuru sa” (“Of course we came”) is not subbed, instead having the subs for Ves-Ves’s second “Why is that?” still play over them as Jun-Jun speaks, before switching to the subs for the rest of Jun-Jun’s lines.
Changed to fix and add her line like so:
"-And why is that?
-We wouldn't miss it."

Minako’s use of “idol” is subbed as “big singing star”
Changed to "great idol"

Episode 160 (Part 2)
At the 14:20 mark, there is a glitch in which a shadow appears on the right side of the screen just before the overhead shot of Ami talking to the performers switches to a closer shot of them. Here’s a screencap of before the glitch, and here’s a screencap of the glitch itself.
This was addressed in the newly-upscaled masters Viz obtained from Toei.

Makoto’s use of “okay” is not included in the subs for this line of her’s: “We’re done setting the chairs on stage.”

None of the signs on the hallway doors or wall are subbed.
No change

At the 15:38 mark, there is a glitch that has two shots of Rei and Chibiusa talking to Cere-Cere and Ves-Ves blended together. Here’s a screencap of said glitch.
This was addressed in the newly-upscaled masters Viz obtained from Toei.

Ves-Ves’s and Cere-Cere’s ominous chant is subbed as “- Never ever forget to remember. - An adult is what a child ends up.” There should probably be a “becoming” or an “as” or a “being” on the end of there.

BiriBiri Yarou’s “Biri biri” dialogue is kept in the subs.

His name is subbed as “Biri-Biri Dude”, and his title is subbed as “Biri-Biri Dude, the electric catfish.”

Palla-Palla’s toy soldiers are subbed as “Palla-Palla’s Lead Toy Soldiers!”
No changes

The Sailor Senshi speech is subbed like so:
Sailor Moon: “Hold it right there!”
Sailor Venus: “The dream of the future.”
Salor Mercury: “For young men and women…”
Sailor Mars: “…this is their big day.”
Sailor Jupiter: “And you’ve ruined it.”
Guardian Senshi: “- Together…”
Sailor Moon: “In the name of the Moon…”
Double Moon: “- …we’ll punish you!”
Changed to the following:
Sailor Moon: “Hold it right there!”
Sailor Venus: “Today is the big day...”
Salor Mercury: “...where aspiring youth…”
Sailor Mars: “…dreams for their future.”
Sailor Jupiter: “And you’ve ruined it.”
Guardian Senshi: “- Together…”
Sailor Moon: “In the name of the Moon…”
Double Moon: “- …we’ll punish you!”

At the 18:28 mark, when Palla-Palla says “Palla-Palla doesn’t like them.”, there is an animation error in which her mouth does not open or move as she says this. In the Pioneer version, her mouth does move, so this glitch is exclusive to Viz’s version.
This was addressed in the newly-upscaled masters Viz obtained from Toei.

Jun-Jun’s giant orb attack is subbed as “Rolling Orb!”
No change

Jun-Jun’s “Kuso!” is subbed as the four-letter D-word “- D***!”
Changed to "- Crap!"

Tuxedo Mask’s speech and the Quartet’s reaction to it are subbed like so:
Tuxedo Mask: “You poor deprived souls who don’t believe in a future filled with dreams—stop fighting and find hope for tomorrow in a world of peace.”
Ves-Ves: “That guy…”
Jun-Jun: “…is so full of himself.”
Palla-Palla: “Palla-Palla doesn’t understand what he said.”
Cere-Cere: “I don’t think he understands himself.”
Tuxedo Mask: “I can conceal my intellect. Now’s your chance!” (I get the feeling that that first sentence was more of a knock at how smart the Quartet was, as Pioneer subbed it as “You can’t hide your intelligence…”)
Changed to the following:
Tuxedo Mask: "You poor souls who refuse to believe in a future filled with dreams. Stop fighting and find hope for tomorrow in a world of peace.”
Ves-Ves: “No offense, but…”
Jun-Jun: “Man, what a show-off.”
Palla-Palla: “Palla-Palla doesn’t get what he's saying.”
Cere-Cere: “I don’t think he understands himself.”
Tuxedo Mask: “I can't hide my intellect. Now’s your chance!”

“Onegai, Pegasus, minna no yume wo mamotte!” is subbed as “Please, Pegasus! Protect everyone’s dream!”
No change

BiriBiri Yarou’s line of “Mou, Stage Out desu ka?” is subbed as “Is it Stage Out, already?!”
Changed to "Wait, is it Stage Out, already?"

At the 21:34 mark, there is a video glitch in which a piece of a Dream Mirror from the preceding shot is blended together with Jun-Jun’s face. Here’s a screencap of it.

At the 21:40 mark, there is a video glitch in which the audience is blended together with the shot of the girls behind stage. Here’s a screencap of it.
This was addressed in the newly-upscaled masters Viz obtained from Toei.

In the next-episode preview, the subs title the next episode as “Terror in Motion: The Dark Queen’s Evil Hand.”

At the 6:14-6:15 mark, when Diana says “Small Lady”, there is an animation error in which her lips do not open or move when she speaks. This error does not occur in the Pioneer version, so much be exclusive to Viz’s version.
This was addressed in the newly-upscaled masters Viz obtained from Toei.

“Usako-tachi” is subbed as “Usako and the others”

All of Diana’s uses of “Mamoru-sama” in this episode are subbed as “Master Mamoru”

No changes

As Chibiusa yells at the girls for being late and their promise to treat her to anything if she won the race, Unazuki’s greeting to the girls is not subbed.
Added Unazuki's line, during Chibiusa's yelling as such:
"- to anything I wanted!
- Thank you very much."

“Gēsen” is subbed as “game center”
Changed to "arcade"

Jun-Jun: “Acrobat Jun-Jun.”
Ves-Ves: “Beast Tamer Ves-Ves.”

Added translated lyrics like so:
"Please, shooting star, just this once
Bring me love that will sweep away and drown me
If you cry all you want, the moon becomes full
Yet nothing ever changes All right
I must find the energy Time to go into battle
Roaring thunder, burning flames, the whip of love
Everyone transform and Make Up!

Everyone is shouting, Make Up!

Sailor Jupiter: “Plus, using the darkness to commit many evil acts!!”
Sailor Mars: “You may be kids, but you’ve gone too far!”

(NOTE: Any glitch errors from hereon will be skipped, because Viz obtained the new upscaled masters from Toei, and used them for these releases onward, instead of using the masters they got the first time to "fix".)

Episode 162
All of the dialogue in the beginning scene, which was the final last of last episode, is subbed here the same as it was all subbed there, with the only exception being this line of Venus’s:

“We can’t let them
have their way any longer!”

Its subs are reformatted to appear like this:

“We can let them have
their way any longer!”

Viz’s subs title the episode as “The Source of Darkness: Dead Moon Circus”
No changes

“Dead Moon no Joō, Nehelenia!” is subbed as “Queen Nehelenia of the Death Moon!”
Changed to "Including Nehalennia, Queen of the Dead Moon!"

There is a typo in this line of Pegasus’s: “It is the one thing that can seal away the Dark Moon back into the darkness once again.” The word “Dark” should be “Dead”
The sub didn't change, but the dub fixed this typo.

Venus’s referring to the Golden Crystal as a “Golden nantoka” is subbed as “Golden whatchamacallit.”
No change in the sub. However, the dub has Venus calling it the "Golden Crystal thingie"

“Joō Nehelenia” is subbed as “Queen Nehelenia”
Changed to "Queen Nehalennia"

“Usagi’s “Your pain is my pain.” Line subbed like so.
Changed to "No. Your pain is my pain."

Diana’s use of “Mamoru-sama” is subbed as “Master Mamoru”

The Dead Moon Circus’s performers’greeting to the girls is all subbed like so:
All of them: “- Welcome to the Dead Moon Circus!”
Chubby yellow girl: “Dreams dreamed in the day are fleeting, but dreams here are 24/7.”
Right face: “Have a look; they’re the best.”
Left face: “You won’t stop laughing.”
Crescent fire-breathing juggler: “You’ll laugh so much…”
Pink and teal guy: “You might become a jackass,”
Green head guy: “but don’t blame us!”
Changed to the following:
All of them: “- Welcome to the Dead Moon Circus!”
Chubby yellow girl: “Dreams dreamed during the night are fleeting, but our nightmares are in business 24/7.”
Right face: “Have a look; they’re the best.”
Left face: “You won’t stop laughing.”
Crescent fire-breathing juggler: “You’ll laugh so much…”
Pink and teal guy: “You might become a jackass,”
Green head guy: “but don’t blame us!”

After the performers all line up to make a path leading to the circus, Rei and Makoto speak a couple of lines that are subbed very differently than how Pioneer subbed them. Behold:

Pioneer subs
Rei: “A straight path to the circus. No need for sly tricks…”
Makoto: “They want us to charge with a full frontal assault?”

Viz Media subs
Rei: “A path straight to the circus.”
Makoto: “Are they saying, “No tricks. Come right on in”?”

In Pioneer’s subs, it is Rei who speaks of the lack of tricks, while in Viz’s subs, it is Makoto instead. Yet the spoken dialogue is the same between the two.
No changes, but to make another comparison, here's the Viz's dub line of this instance:

Viz Media dub
Rei: "They've cleared a path straight to the circus tent."
Makoto: "It looks like they want to settle this once and for all, too."

Palla-Palla’s use of “Sailor Senshi no minna-san!” is subbed as just “Guardians!”
Changed to "Sailor Guardians!"

“- Moon Crisis Make Up!” is subbed like so.

“Mars Crystal Power Make Up!”, “Jupiter Crystal Power Make Up!”, “Mercury Crystal Power Make Up!”, and “Venus Crystal Power Make Up!” are subbed like so.

The “Sailor… Soldier…” background music is left intact.
No changes

The Sailor Senshi speech is subbed like so:
Chibi Moon: “You evil people soiled our Juban District by wrapping it with spider threads!”
Sailor Moon: “On top of that, you put my Mamo in agony! I can’t forgive you!”
Sailor Venus: “We are the Sailor Team who fight for love and for justice!”
Sailor Moon: “In the name of the Moon…”
Double Moon: “- …we’ll punish you!”
Changed to the following:
Chibi Moon: “You evildoers turned out Juban District into a jungle of messy spider webs by wrapping it with spider threads!”
Sailor Moon: “On top of that, you put my Mamo in agony! I can’t forgive you!”
Sailor Venus: “We are the Sailor Guardians who fight for love and for justice!”
Sailor Moon: “In the name of the Moon…”
Double Moon: “- …we’ll punish you!”

Ves-Ves’s use of “Sailor Senshi” is subbed as “the Guardians”
Changed to "Sailor Guardians"

Cere-Cere’s use of “Nehelenia-sama” subbed as “Queen Nehelenia”
Changed to "Queen Nehalennia"

Cere-Cere’s use of “Sailor Senshi” is subbed as “the Guardians”
Changed to "Sailor Guardians"

Cere-Cere’s use of “Zirconia-obaba” is subbed as “Grandma Zirconia”
Changed to "Granny Zirconia"

Mercury’s “Anno” that she speaks to Chibi Moon right before she says that she wants to ask Chibi Moon something is not subbed.

Jun-Jun’s “Saa me!” (“Here we go!”) is subbed as “Batter up!”

Palla-Palla’s giant ball attack is subbed as “Rolling Orb!”

Ves-Ves’s “Tama Natto!” attack is subbed as “Natto Orb!”

Zirconia’s title as the Dead Moon’s “Danchō” (“Head” or “Leader” of a delegation) is subbed as “Troupe leader”. Pioneer subbed it as “ringmaster”.
No changes

The following lines of Zirconia’s are subbed a little more wonkily when compared to how Pioneer subbed them:
Pioneer: “I know that the pegasus which stands there is just an illusion… …that Pegasus can only live inside beautiful dreams in the human world!!”
Viz Media: “I know the truth. Pegasus there is an illusion. Pegasus is only able to survive in your human world inside a beautiful dream.”
Changed to "I know the truth. Pegasus there is an illusion. Pegasus is only able to survive in the human world inside a beautiful dream."

Zirconia’s use of “Nehelenia-sama” subbed as “Queen Nehelenia”
Changed to "Queen Nehalennia"

n the next-episode preview, the subs title the next episode as “Labyrinth of Mirrors: Chibi Moon Captured.”
No change

Episode 163
What was subbed last episode as “Don’t worry. I’ll make you better, I promise. I will protect this planet without fail.” is subbed here as “Don’t worry… I’ll cure you, I promise. I’ll protect this planet without fail.”
Changed to "Don’t worry… I’ll cure you, I promise. And I will protect this planet too.” I checked the previous episode, and they changed the subs in that to match with this episode's changed line.

The Amazoness Quartet’s chant, “Yume yume utagau koto nakare yume miru kodomo no yume no yume,” is subbed this time as “- Never ever forget to remember.” “- A child’s dream is a dream of dreams.” “- Never ever forget to remember.” The problem with this is that, this time, the last part is spoken first (to conclude an inaudible spoken first part), then the first part is spoken, and then the last part again. Whereas the subs have the first part, then the last part, then the first part again. So it ought to have been subbed as “- …A child’s dream is a dream of dreams.” “- Never ever forget to remember.” “- A child’s dream is a dream of dreams...”
Changed to fix the chant, so it's now this: “- …A child’s dream is a dream of dreams.” “- Never ever forget to remember.” “- A child’s dream is a dream of dreams.”

Viz’s subs title the episode as “Labyrinth of Mirrors: Chibi Moon Captured.”

The name of the “Stallion Reve” is subbed like so.
No changes

Chibi Moon saying Helios’s name for the first time in this episode is subbed as “Heli…os…”
Changed to "Helios...?"

Nehelenia’s line of “Kono Dead Moon ichizoku shihai suru mono,” is subbed as “I rule those of the Dead Moon.”
Changed to "The ruler of the Dead Moon"

There is an unusual uppercasing in the subs for Nehelenia’s line of “Do you know how deep true Darkness can be?” The words she used for “true Darkness” were “shin no yami”, so there doesn’t appear to be a real reason for the D in “Darkness” to be uppercased.
Changed to "Do you know the true depths of darkness?"

Nehelenia’s story is subbed like so:
Nehelenia: “Once upon a time, there was a kingdom on the Moon called Silver Millennium filled with light. A queen named Serenity ruled the kingdom, and the kingdom prospered. From the darkness of a cold, small planet, the Queen of Darkness watched Silver Millennium. The Queen of Darkness envied the prosperity of the Kingdom of the Moon. She wanted to somehow make that kingdom her own. One day, the Queen of Darkness learned of a secret stone with mysterious power. With that stone’s power, not only could she take the Queen of the Moon’s place, she could rule the entire universe! That stone, the Golden Crystal, was located in a sacred place on Earth, protected by a young man. The Queen of Darkness experienced emotions she could not understand. For some reason, at that moment, she wanted not just the stone, but the young man as well. She approached the young man and proposed that they rule the world together using the power of the Golden Crystal.”
Helios (in the flashback): “The Golden Crystal chooses its possessor. If you possess a beautiful dream, you can acquire this stone. However, if you do not… If you do not, you will be punished for possessing an evil heart.”
Nehelenia: “The sacred flames kept the Queen of Darkness from acquiring the Golden Crystal. What’s more, the Queen of the White Moon sealed her away in the darkness of the New Moon. But the Queen of Darkness waited for her chance. She knew that if she had the Golden Crystal, she could break free of the barrier. Then, when the solar eclipse she’d been waiting for occurred, she unleashed her minions and succeeded in capturing the young man.”
Changed to the following:
Nehalennia: "It all happened eons ago...Back then, there was a kingdom on the Moon filled with light, known as Silver Millennium. The kingdom flourished under the rule of a queen named Serenity. And then there was the Queen of Darkness, who watched Silver Millennium from her dark and cold asteroid. The Queen of Darkness envied the prosperity of the Moon Kingdom. She wanted to somehow make that Kingdom her own. Eventually, the Queen of Darkness learned of a mystical stone possessing mysterious powers. With that stone's power, she could usurp the Queen of the Moon's throne. Not only that, she could even rule the entire universe! That stone, the Golden Crystal, was located in a sacred place on Earth, protected by a young man. The Queen of Darkness experienced emotions even she could not comprehend. For some reason, at that moment, she wanted not just the stone, but the young man, as well. She approached the young man and purposed that they rule the world together using the power of the Golden Crystal."
Helios (flashback): "The Golden Crystal chooses its owner. If you possess a beautiful dream, then you can acquire this stone. However, if you do not...If you do not, you will be punished for possessing an evil heart."
Nehalennia: "The sacred flames kept the Queen of Darkness from acquiring the Golden Crystal. What's more, the Queen of the White Moon sealed her away in the darkness of the New Moon...! But the Queen of Darkness waited for her chance. She knew that if she had the Golden Crystal, she could break free from her prison. Then, when the solar eclipse she’d been waiting for occurred, she unleashed her minions and succeeded in capturing the young man."

Zirconia’s line of “Haha! Koko ni,” is subbed as “Yes! I am here, my queen!”
No change

There is a slight animation error when Jun-Jun speaks her line of “Why do we get iced out? It’s not fair.” When she speaks this line, her mouth stays closed and does not move until about one-third of the way through her speaking this line. In the Pioneer version, her mouth opens and moves almost immediately when her dialogue starts up. Here, though, it stays closed for the first-third of her line of dialogue.
Fixed the glitch in the new upscaled masters, but this line is changed to "Why are they shutting us out? It's not fair."

“Nehelenia-sama” is subbed as “Queen Nehelenia”
Changed to "Queen Nehalennia"

Ves-Ves’s use of “Tentai” is subbed as “celestial objects”
Changed to "stars"

“Tama Nozuki” is subbed as “The Peeking Orb.”

“Tama Tsukuri” is subbed as “Cloning Orb!”

“Tama Biraki” is subbed as “Open Orb.”

Nehelenia’s use of “ankoku power” is subbed as “power of Darkness”. Like before, there’s really no real reason for “Darkness” to have an uppercase D.

“Mirror house” is subbed as “house of mirrors”
No changes

When Mars turns around at the 12:54 mark, her line of “Sailor Moon?” is subbed as “Sailor Moon, is that you?”
Changed to "Sailor Moon?"

There is a technical error in the subs for Sailor Jupiter’s reflection’s line of “Oh come on— don’t be afraid.”
Changed to "Oh come on, don't be afraid."

Jupiter’s line of “Atashi?” (“Me?”) is subbed as “You’re me?”

The subs have Jupiter’s reflection talk about how Makoto’s desire to be more like a “young girl” instead of as more like a “girl”. The repetition of the word “young” in the subs makes it sound like Makoto’s trying to hold on to her youth, when the word being used in the dialogue is actually “onnanokorashi”, which means “feminine” or “girly”. The visual support this in their depiction of Makoto being tempted with a beautiful (to her) womanly dress. So it would make more sense for the uses of “young girl” in the subs to be replaced with just “girl”.

Usagi’s line that was subbed in episode 162 as “Your pain is my pain.” is subbed the same here.
No changes

The Sailor Senshi speech is subbed like so:
Mars: “How dare you trick us with that deception!”
Venus: “You greatly underestimate the Guardians!” (she says “Sailor Senshi” in the dialogue)
Mercury: “We haven’t discarded our childhood dreams!”
Jupiter: “But right now, we have…”
Moon: “…an even greater dream!”
Changed to the following:
Mars: “You thought you could trick us with your spell!”
Venus: “You underestimated the Sailor Guardians!”
Mercury: “We haven’t forgotten about our childhood dreams!”
Jupiter: “But right now, we also have…”
Moon: “…an dream that's much greater!”

“Tama Shibari” is subbed as “Leash Orb!”
No change
