Not enough compared to Viz's screening of the new Mazinger Z movie under Fathom Events. That movie even came to my area which wasn't exactly the case for Sailor Moon R (Eleven Arts) or even the last two DBZ movies (Fox).
I wish I'd known there was an official Twitter account earlier... That's the sort of thing that should be linked to on the website. smh Gonna start pestering them to add theaters in my area because there's no way I'm going all the way to Boston on a Wednesday night to watch this.
^I suppose it depends on how well the musical performs over here but I wonder if they would get Viz to release it or another company to do it since Viz doesn't seem to be involved with this theatrical release any at all.
On Twitter they said they're planning out a Canadian release as well. It would be bizarre for them to take the trouble of subtitling the musical and releasing it in theaters throughout North America only to not release it on home video. Of course, that wouldn't be the first bizarre decision made in relation to Sailor Moon, so who knows.
^Yeah, I don't have any faith in regards to how Sailor Moon in handled as a property. It's one ridiculous choice after the other. Like how they're bringing the last musical in North America instead of starting with La Reconquista. It makes no sense.
Anyways, did anyone go and see the Sailor Moon musical in theaters this past weekend? I think some are still playing it throughout the month, too. I went yesterday and had a blast! It was based on the Stars series, which I wasn’t as familiar with, so I really enjoyed it. The performances were phenomenal - especially Mamoru/Tuxedo Mask and Princess Kakyuu. I highly recommend it if you’re a fan and can see it.
I do have other good news - I contacted the show at it’s official Facebook page via a private message and was told a blu-ray release of the show will happen. So definitely good news for those who weren’t close enough to a theater to see it!
So this means Seramyu is officially licensed for North America and we are getting a Blu Ray release? Is there any word on who will be releasing it since it doesn't look like Viz has the rights? I hope we can get the previous Myus released on Blu Ray too.
I figured a home video release was likely but still exciting to have confirmation! Didn't have a local screening to go to but I'll definitely buy the Blu-Ray. Hope we can get the rest of the Myus released as well. and PGSM
I hope we won't have to wait long for the Blu-ray release to come out. From what I've seen on Twitter from people who've attended screenings so far, it seems like attendance hasn't been great, so the Blu-ray release will probably have to do exceptionally well for them to bother releasing the other musicals. I'll definitely pre-order it the second I can; I just hope they don't tweak the subtitles (apart from fixing timing issues). If the BR uses "bunhead" instead of "meatball head" I'm going to cry!
Hi! I’m the original poster from Blu-Ray forums who had posted on the musical blu-ray. There’s definitely some discrepancies in what they’re telling people cause they did tell me it would be happening eventually. I told them it would be a day one purchase from me. I really, really hope it does! Or even just a DVD release. I don’t care - this was my first Sailor Moon musical and I enjoyed every minute of it!
I’d share my Facebook message screenshot if I could, but I can’t get it working here. :/ Not the most tech savvy, lol.
