We all know that Sailor Moon is heavily influenced by astrology, with each of the Sailors (and Tux) born under the sign ruled by their associated planet. Which got me to thinking... What if that rulership is literal? What if the Sailors (and Tux) are not only princesses (and princes) of their home worlds, but of their corresponding zodiac constellations, too?
This could explain one of the biggest unanswered questions introduced in the Stars arc... If the planet Mau is located in Cancer, and the planet Coronis in Aries, that might explain why these two otherwise seemingly random planets from outside the Solar System would have alliances/shared histories with the Moon and Mars. If memory serves, we're never told anything about where Mau and Coronis are located, so who's to say they're not in Cancer and Aries?
(Of course, should this all be the case, it would mean Mercury and Venus would each have two zodiacal domains, making them more powerful - in terms of interplanetary politics, at least - than the others.)
Granted, if this were something Naoko had in mind, it would have been a pretty big thing to leave out and never mention over the past twenty years...but I get the feeling she had a lot of ideas for Stars that she never ended up putting into the manga and hasn't told the public about, so who knows? Maybe if there had been a sixth arc, it would have explored the Sailors' zodiacal realms.
What do you guys think? Sound reasoning or crackpot theory?
