(POTENTIAL SPOILERS)

The new Viz release we’re getting in May will be as god as, if not better than what they did with SuperS. Laura Post did a good job voicing Nehellenia, quite sultry that was a massive improvement over Cloverway’s.

As I digressed, with Stars I expect the voice acting to be upped the ante, with it being the ultimate end peppered with traumatic scenes and birthday suit prancing, but I (hopefully) don’t think Viz would go against their no cuts policy and keep it as they found it.

Well that didn't take long...

As for me, I expect episodes 173-200 to still suck so I'll be avoiding most of Part 1 until Part 2 is out (similar to how I handled Hunter x Hunter '11's Yorknew arc on disc) and even then, I'll turn down the volume and distract myself by playing more Sailor Moon Drops on my phone during those episodes.

Maybe it's just wishful thinking, but I would absolutely love it if VIZ brought in some of the DiC/CWi actors to do some minor roles in StarS. Some of them are still active in voice acting, so it's not entirely impossible for them to do. It just comes down to they themselves would want to do such a thing.

I’d also love if they brought in a few DiC actors for the final season. Would make for some nice cameos. Though they’ve had every opportunity to do that with this new dub, but haven’t. So I feel it’s very doubtful that they would.

Though I would personally love if they brought in Terri Hawkes to voice the light of hope.. would be a fitting send off to the whole saga of bringing Sailor Moon to the US. But I know that would never happen..

Given the Viz dub’s vehement border on obsessive disdain for the old dub to the point they seem to have unspoken rule they can’t do anything like the old dub even if the old dub did it right, I doubt they’ll get old Optimum voice actors even theoretically easy ones to get like Rino Romano and Sugar who live in LA
Exactly! While I’m a fan of the Viz dub and enjoy the performances as a whole, there really is no excuse for the sloppy “proper English” scenario in ep 108 (Usagi Waltz). They should have changed it to the girls freaking out over speaking French (or German, or any other European language) like the CWI dub. None of the humor or gags worked with them not understanding “proper English”. I swear they only did it in English because CWI had previously done it in a French.

That’s really been my main gripe with Viz. I think the other minor quirps have all been forgiveable.

I was unaware Viz treated the old dub like anathema, that won't help in fact it'll kill them for it. There's a history the US shares with the franchise despite the concessions There's a connection to everything...

My first reaction seeing Uasgi's Waltz was "are you f kidding me?" nobody bothered to speak another language? For a dub bent on forgetting the earlier ones I was sure reminded more of it. .

Oh sweet lord, my first reaction seeing Uasgi's Waltz was "are you f kidding me?" nobody bothered to speak another language? For a dub bent on forgetting the earlier ones I was sure reminded more of it. .
Only problem with that is you wind up with something like K-On! where the music wasn't dubbed and it can be awkward going to Japanese language music and back to English dialogue.

I'm sure there lot of issues related to unions that would prevent Viz from getting all the same actors. If you remember the movie Orgazmo, from what I understood in the DVD commentary, that was why all the porn stars in the movie had to use different names rather than their porn star names.

I think I might enjoy those episodes a bit more than earlier seasons because there isn’t another English dub to compare it to. I imagine by now there is a lot less awkwardness and all the actors have settled into their roles. I feel like if you watch enough episodes good or not Stockholm syndrome starts to set in no matter what.

All I'm hoping for is that Viz casts female voice actresses that can sound convincing as men like the original Japanese version did.
Well you know they could also do like say certain foreign dubs did and cast the male form with a male voice actor and the female form with a female voice actor like say for example the Latin American Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese dubs did. I don't know what direction they are going to take with the Starlights. In know in Crystal when Zoisite was disguised as Dr. Izono they did give him a female voice actress different from his male voice actor when he was in disguise.

Well for me personally I love the Viz dub from what I have seen so far. I think they have done a great job.
I absolutely love the Viz dub too. It's been great to re-watch the series with the new english cast! It's been great to have the same voice actors for each character through out all 5 seasons! Some consistency for once is nice!

I hated the constant switch up of the voice actors in the original english dub. The voice they brought on for Sailor Moon in S & SuperS with Cloverway was god-awful and eww I can't watch those episodes. Usagi's new voice actress is great (among others) and suits her character. The old dub which was a butchered mess; cut out full episodes & scenes, changed scenes around, changed plot lines, changed genders, censored gay relationships, etc. The new dub is usually way funnier, and more adult, and will even feature swearing at times. I actually enjoy watching SuperS now; it's really good and funny in the new dub and that's saying something. My friend and I were dying laughing watching the new "Artemis Is Cheating?" episode. Viz rules

I've liked the Viz dub from day one, and I think it's only gotten better over time. (Just compare Stephanie's "Crisis Make Up" to her episode 45 reactions, and there's a noticeable difference) So I'm really excited to see how Stars' dub turns out. I think it might endear me to Stars a bit more.

I'd like to think the lack of a previous dub to compare it to will make a difference in reception to the Stars dub, but I doubt it. I imagine people will just compare it to DiC-style Stars fandubs instead.

I feel like Cristina Vee could handle another role in this franchise because she could be a serviceable Yaten in my opinion. I think something similar to what she does for Killua in Hunter X Hunter would be good considering she has singing experience shes better suited to the role than anyone else I could think of.

I don't think two major characters that even interact with each other should share the same VA if they have the budget they need to hire two different people. I'm sure there are a lot of voice actress that sing out there.
