Let's wait 25 years later for another reboot of Sailor Moon, if it's possible.
I have no objection against following the manga. However, we need a person who really loves the manga, fix its weak points and turn it into animation.
There's no problem making each arc 2 movies (approximately 1 hour 45 minutes for each one). Instead of following frame by frame, they should indicate 2 or 3 most impressive panels each arc and make them carefully. When following the frame in manga, the body of the character is usually the static part, while dress, cape, hair are the moving parts (So it can create the impression that it is a manga panel).
The problem with SMC is that they don't know with is the key frame, which frame last long in the screen. For example, for the infamous Ami face (I'm only good at studying) in Act 2, in fact, there is a very beautiful in-between frame, and they captured it to make commercial on newspaper, while her last frame which lasts for 5 - 6 seconds is horrendous.
They should paraphrase the dialogues. There is no point let the character talk to much and do nothing. Of course, they shouldn't let go important information (SMC3 watchers probally don't know Prof. Tomoe has another name in his Daimon form, Germatoid or sth...). And talking about the dialogues, I feel uncomfortable hearing the 4 Inners shouting the same "Usagi!", or splitting one sentence into 4 parts. (Hotaru-chan. / Thank you / For saving us / From Mistress 9).
They say they follow the manga closely, but look at what they do with Act 13, and the past of Queen Beryl in Act 12...!? They focus to much on unimportant details, while leaving impressive things.
There's nothing wrong with Shitennous x Inners. They can let them alive if they want. In the last battle. No new forms of enemy need to inventing, but they can duplicate them for the last battle. For example, Mercury dealing with people went crazy by Joisite / Mars - the mud puppets of Jadeite / Jupiter - manequins that has hypnotic skills and make her remember her sad story / Venus - physical fight with Kunizte, and rescure Moon from the wicked hair of Beryl, and stab her.) After that, the Shitennou can show their attempts to escape from the power of Metalia and try to fight along with Inners. Howevers, the moment Inners "purify" them to turn them into human, they turn into ash and become 4 gems. Their death bring Mamoru from the control of Metalia (Man can cry, OK? And they can make it a tearjerker if they could!). However, Mamoru is partly possessed by Metalia, so his eyes are blind, and he will fight with Moon in darkness. The Inner collapse, the brooch of Moon breaks, she collaps too, and Mamoru heals them as well as the Earth, and Usagi will take the group to the Moon. The whole team will have their new transformation pens. Usagi and Mamoru will have a private conversation with Queen Serenity, while the Inners stands far behing and try to murmur with each other something about them.
