A 1:1 adaptation from a manga doesn't always translate well on screen. Which is where Toei could have take on certain liberties to control & improve the flow of the storyline. God knows Stars will need it the most! Since in the manga it seems pretty disheveled for the most part. A straight manga adaption from the beginning with Crystal has been its' personal downfall. Again, certain things just don't translate/transfer very well on screen, especially with a movie format!

Not going to nitpick but I think the animation in these scenes is somewhat stiff.
I almost couldn't see the in-between frames, although they are there. It looks like she turned 180 degrees suddenly.

These scenes need more frames.

Chibi-Usa head seems to lack something. Or because her face is too big?

Where are transparent sleeves? They couldn't follow the character design properly?

Yeah.. they aren’t ideal. It’s a shame cuz there was zero derp in the first movie. Anyway let’s reserve our judgement until the movie is out.

i want my fluid, flowly hair :(

210k in its first day, hm. I tried looking up Ojamo Doremi as it is a similar revival movie by Toei. Apparently that got around 700 k in the first 4 days. If Sailor Moon can keep a steady pace then hopefully it can exceed Toei’s expectations. I’m worried with COVID, tho.

We need Stars, guys! I’m gonna be so bummed if we never end up getting the last season in some form.

We would need to know how many copies Toei put on the cinemas cause I remember months ago when the list of cinemas that would have Eternal was ridiculous low. I think it was like 20 cinemas or so... You can not make big numbers with so few copies. Plus the alarm state that just began the day of the premiere.

Its disappointing for sure but Toei must know qhat they are doing with it. Eternal is having LOTS of merchandise colaborations ( and it just began, now that the first movie has released, Tamashii Nations for example is starting to reveil the proplicas and figures for it that they had been keeping for the premiere ). 2021 and 2022 will be full of merchandise for Eternal + the Netflix agreement must be enough to supply the poor cinema numbers.

If they got that international deal with Netflix, I think the franchise is secured and Starts adaptation is already being considered.

Toei is giving 250.000 limited cardass freebie for people who watch Eternal, average ticket price is 1500 yen so they expect at least 400 million yen gross for Eternal and i doubt it can reach that number
