I don‘t mind if the animation has static moments or limited movements, but I really want to see beautiful frame compositions and atmospheric colors and shadows, breathtaking choreographies for the transformations and battle scenes.

So... the animation director plays the most important part here, right? Can we already speculate who is likely going to be in charge?
We simply have no idea. The chief animation director is the one doing the so called stock footage, like transformations and attacks. It is in most cases the character designer themselves, but as far as I have seen Tadano has been credted as chara designer only in her recent projects.

That image is so fake. It has grain filter and the calars are way different than the Eternal color palette.

^ The Chief Animation Director is not in charge of the stock footage. Stock footage can be done by various animators based on who's available. For example, Naotoshi Shida was responsible for Sailor Moon and Sailor Chibi Moon's transformation in S3.

The Chief Animation Director's sole job is ensure that the characters stay mostly on model. They do corrections to frames... Which is why the character designer normally does this job, since in theory they know how their characters look best. A strong CAD is important, but that's not enough to guarantee an excellent production. It's also important that the anime has a strong director who can provide interesting storyboards and talented key animators to ensure the movement is fluid. Above all else, the production needs time since an anime can have all of those elements, and still fall apart if the deadlines are ridiculous.

It's a shame that he hasn't worked on Crystal at all despite being pretty active in Toei. His drawings blow all three character designers we've had out of the water.

Something tells me he won't even be involved with Eternal despite having worked on all 3 movies in the '90s.

No, this is just an illustration from Hisashi Kagawa. He recently released a doujinshi featuring all of his Sailor Moon art from Twitter.
Spoiler: show
WOW!! ::love::::love::::love::::love::::love::::love::::love::::love::::love::::love:: this is so beautiful!

Maybe he DOES work on it...since he recently released that doujinshi...

Does anybody know how many people and who from the original 90s staff are still working with Toei or worked already on SMC?

I hope that the Eternal form gets a heavy redesign. I don't even know how it could be made to look good in animated form :(
Is it common sense among fans that the eternal fuku is badly designed? If yes, we might get it redesigned, since Naoko is supervising. There is a thread about it in the forum. What minor changes could make the fuku better, yet still faithful to its manga-design?

Edit: It‘s been a while since Naoko released art/drawings of Eternal SM, right?

Edit2: Found this (official?) artwork. Hair is white and everything red became pink...I kinda like it!

So ugly. They are seriously going downwards with these. Yukie Sako was the best in the end. Who greenlit these designs and how can they justifiy the two years they spent on them. Cringe! Where is the so called Naoko vision in these design? I cannot believe they went from designs suited for a movie, and end up with a movie with designs for cran game for toddlers. Worst art possible, lets remove all the hair details. They are 15 year-old kindergardeners now.
I missed this thread I guess, but I like the moe style art. It's popular right now, with the most recent Nanoha movies adopting that look too.

I was quite bitter at the begining. I warmed up to them in time, but still thing they are quite poor compared to the initial concept and way too moe.

I just noticed that her brooch here is just a golden crescent moon instead of a pink heart and golden crescent moon (or a gold heart and crescent as in the '90s anime). Makes me wonder what they'll go with in SME (probably the pink heart). Of course, the real question is what transformation phrase will they use? But we won't find out until 2029 probably

I wonder how it's going to be to see the Guardian Senshi in Eternal Fuku for the Eternal movie?
You could always check out Rudolph Paps fan transformation. Even though I hate those bowling ball sleeves he managed to make them look cool.

Yasuharu is a really nice guy and all, but... Does he really need to be in the movies? I'm alienated from his work in other franchises, but in Sailor Moon, it's so bland. The transformation cues were the strong point of the original anime, and in Crystal they sound like church music.

Taking the Sailor Chorus to a whole new level!

Season 3 music for Sailor Moon transformation sounds like a special stage in a Sonic the Hedgehog game but it's still catchy I suppose.

Crystal music isn't mind shatteringly terrible but it doesn't sound varies like the original.

No idea why they axed the Sailor Senshi individual themes.

Yes, a lot of the season 1 and 2 tracks were completely unused. Namely the individual senshi themes. It is like half of the music unused, while other tracks were reused over and over again.
