I think a 12 episoded TV-series is enough for small battles and character development, and a 2 hour movie for the final battle is not a too bad idea. For example, they can make the chapter about Usagi's past life (Act 10) to Act 14 a movie... I want them to create real flashback sequences, like what SM 90's did, not just Queen Serenity retelling the story like in SMC.

It is enough. They just need the freedom to be creative with the content. The Sailor Moon story isn't that complex or groundbreaking at all. Some new creative elements would be a breath of fresh air.

In any case, can't believe Part II will be out in a few weeks. Need the next trailer..lol

I think another retelling of SM story just doesnt make sense at least in the form of anime. PGSM was a completely different style so a retelling made sense in this particular case. Crystal also made sense because it was a manga version animated and as we know manga and old anime are almost separate stories. But why would they do manga adaptation again? Its done already. Sailor V, even if happens, is pretty much destined to be a one shot (so a short series, OVA or movie). I think that if they want to comeback big they need an original content. Or something that wasnt done yet. Musical adaptations, Another Story adaptation, new stories. Not another retelling.

Yes if something new was to come, I guess it could be:
1/ Sailor V
2/ a prequel about Silver Millenium
3/ a story in the future with Chibi Usa
4/ a story arc happening before Stars (like another story adaptation and short Manga story adapted)
5/ the continuation of the classic anime, with finally adapting the last chapters with Chaos and Cosmos...(but it’s will be very confusing to return to the classic anime)

I personally like so much how the story ends that I’m not graving for some new materials... and I read many times than Takeuchi was anyway totally opposed to it. So Sailor V adaptation seems the only real possibility here!

I think continuation will most likely cheapen the brand. It usually doesn't work whenever they try to continue a story after such a long time.

I think the possibility of the continuation of 90's series depend on the newer generation. They won't watch it or can't watch it if they don't watch 200 episodes of the 90's series...
Most kids nowadays wouldn't. I have tested it with kids. They don't care about character development, they want it flashy. A complete reboot with Chibi Usa in the future that feels newconer friendly is the obvious choice. But how will they differentiate it from all the rest magical girl shows... Sailor Moon is nostalgia franchise and I don't know how it can bring innovtion to the genre once again.

I would like something like that, or even Parallel Moon being something like Boruto or Hime Yasha. Main focus would be on the kids but also include the old characters on a semi regular basis again for older fans. I don’t think it needs to have the pressure of reinventing the wheel or anything as long as it’s interesting, well paced and somewhat fresh. Let’s be honest Sailor Moon isn’t going to overtake Precure, but it’s be nice to have some new stories.

I personally thing after they finish Crysternal they should leave it to rest. They might and most likely will do musicials and stuff, but yet another anime will be too much in forseeable future.

Thinking about a reboot series in 20 years. The audience will bash that version and praise Crystal. :wow:
20 years are too early in my opinion. Considering we don't even know how much we are going to wait for Stars.

I will always be on with a definitive version that will combine and expand stuff from all the different versions, but I cannot see people being interested in yet another Dark Kingdom adaptation... Unless they really shift and twist it. And make it really unpredictable and fresh.

The next animated project from Toei after Sailor Moon Crystal/Eternal ended should be the short stories or movies with original stories, like in the 90s.

A complete reboot based on the manga should be made by a different, high quality studio, that has creative freedom and a high budget.

I don‘t want another reboot by Toei.

I once met a “Sailor Moon” fan who was possibly in her late-40s, early-50s.

She had merchandise I had never seen in my life: a big Sailor Moon doll that I believe was sold here in North America, a collection of dolls, cards, and so much other stuff. She also watched anime on this old TV, like a TV from the 1970s or early-1980s. She helped me find and buy some rare CLAMP merchandise I no longer have. Actually, I still have the “X” character album and she found it for me.
