It will be interesting to hear Yasuharu Takanashi's take on circus music. He has a tendency to recycle leitmotifs from his other works, but I think in this case he'll have to create the music from scratch.
As long as the transformations and attacks doesn't have cues that sound like they came straight out of a morning mass, it's fine.

Is the creepiness of the circus in the concept of manga from the start? Or is it just the original thing from the anime? It's not the first time the old anime has invented their own thing. They created the skull shaped residence for Dark Kingdom, changed the shape of Metalia, made the palace for Black Moon. Even Pharaoh 90 in the old anime is very different from the manga, he was an intruder come to the Earth through a lab.
I think the manga defnitelly teased some creepiness. Zirconia and Zircon alone give nightmare vibes. Then you have lemures and constant talking about nightmares. Also from what we saw the only actual humans in the circus are the quartet. The trio was created from animals. Xenotime and Zeolite also give some weird vibes, their faces seem kinda non-human (i might be wrong). Also who are the residents we see when Circus first appears in Tokyo? We only see them once but it seems unlikely they're humans. I wanna see the movie expanding some of these ideas

I don't know why some people complain too much about the soundtracks of Crystal by Yasuharu Takanashi.
I'm enjoying them everyday.
Open your mind and stop comparing it with the soundtrack of 90's anime. They're not supposed to be the same.

I read Dream arc when I was 10. I really didn't mind the circus, but the story of Inners and Outers.

Yasuharu Takanashi is definitely not sophisticated (varied) (imo) compared to the 90s music but it's not very bad either. In fact, some of the tracks are nice sounding. I think his music is just music of the times and all that. It's not as memorable as some of 90s but at least it's not a dumpster fire OST.

I wonder how his version of Moonlight Densetsu would sound?

It would be interesting indeed.

I don't think he will compose it. After all he composed backtracks, but not any songs in Crystal.

Just realised the new composer Yasuharu Takanashi also composed for the game Onmiyoji Arena which I happened to play. I’ve always loved the music in game, which was imo one of the best thing of the game. Really looking forward to his creations for the SME movie.

Do you guys think we'll get a transformation from the Outers in this part or will it happen in part 2
In part 2. I think 2nd movie will start with vol 14 of the manga, with the first scene of the Outers in Dream Arc. 1st movie (in my opinion) will end with Sailor Venus's cliffhanger at the end of vol 13 (I am talking about the original publication).

I don‘t think the film will end with a cliffhanger. We might get some foreshadowing and a glimpse on the outers though. I think each film will work somehow as a standalone film, like the lord of the rings movies did.

I am pretty sure it will end on a cliffhanger. First it is a way to make people eager for part 2, second Crystal usually ended an episode on a cliffhanger and third Outers Dream chapter will be a nice bait for part 2. Anime films that are intended as two or three parters usually end on a cliffhanger.

I think they'll show the entire Venus' story without any Outers interruption and then they'll start 2nd movie with Outers story. Keep in mind that they've already shown Love and Beaty Shock in the first movie teaser

But is a cliffhanger about Venus big enough to close a Sailor Moon (!) movie? Where is Usagi and what is she doing at that point?

The cliffhanger at the end of "Venus Dream" is definitely big enough since it ends on the implication of Artemis' death, as we see a boulder crushing him. Usagi is weirdly not present in that chapter, but they could adapt the last few pages from the next one, "New Soldiers Dream," where we see Usagi coughing up blood. Regardless, Usagi and Chibiusa don't appear until two chapters after Venus Dream so they will certainly absent at the end of the first film.

I can see them include Venus' transformation and attack from "New Soldiers Dream" though and end on them being trapped by the Quartet.

I wouldn't really take the trailer as confirmation. They've already worked on Venus' stock footage and it makes more sense to include it even if she doesn't transform in Part 1 (as people not familiar with the manga would be asking about her absence).

One thing is for certain, it's very unlikely that the Outers will fully appear in Part 1. They might tease them at the end of the film though after the credits?

They might have done the stock footage for all the senshi in advance.

The whole first part of the arc has not muchfocus on Usagi, plus they can frame it as Venus being in trouble, while Usagi coughing blood like Seira Hazuki said and this is such a cool way to end it - I hope they won't chicken on that.. The only think that makes me think we might see the outers in part 1 is the interview from a while back - the one with Usagi and Luna talking and teasing the outers. But I agree it might post credits cameo. While Usagi is the main character she is not really central in the first 6 chapters of Dreams. It is more about the inners and Chibi Usa.

It builds suspense. They know the Outers are fan favorites. They do the same for superheros in movies as well. They better make Neptune's hair bask in the ambiance. None of the choppy Season III hair-flip nonsense. I do wonder how they will handle some of the "darker" scenes tho. As adults (or teens) we can handle what they throw at us Im sure.

I hope Tadano had kept Michiru and Hotaru's hair style. It's very Crystal-ish. :sob:

While I lament he length of Michiru's hair, Akira's hair design was such a joke that her hair looked like jelly mess most of the time. Tadano shortened but from what we have seen added volume and shading making hair look like hair and I cannot wait to see the likes of Iwata animated this hair. She managed to make wonders with Akira's jelly, so this will be a real spectacle. So back on the Road Show term. I am familiar with the American term, but is it the same in Japan?

In fact, Venus' attack is the only one we don't really see in the trailer, we see only the wink part from the new version of 90's anime sequence. So maybe it's no9t going to be shown in this movie,. As I said, I think Venus' cliffhanger will close the movie, and I agree about it being big enough for it. Maybe, as some suggested here, we'll see Usagi somewhere and the Outers in an after-credits scene.

I think it's a good option because we are left with a cliffhanger of Venus in danger, but next movie doesn't start with her! it starts with the Outers, so some fans will ask themselves "but what happened with Venus!" (remember that not everyone has read the manga). I think it's a good moment to split Dream arc.
