Yes, definitely. I'm fine with them paying homage to the original anime so long as they don't downgrade Chibi Moon and Tuxedo Mask.

(And when they get to Stars I'm hoping they don't reuse anything, because I didn't like those sequences the first time around either lolol)

I do have to admit I am surprised that they're reusing stuff from SuperS purely because that season nearly killed the anime from what I've heard, so I would think they would try to distance from it rather than remind people of it haha.
Whereas S was huge so I was full on expecting some of the old sequences to make a return.

well yeah the transformation of super S wasn't my favorite too, the attack on the other hand is good, but well if they are going to re use it maybe some polish or do something better like some said a homage and like some said some twist
but i prefer something new, powerful and dynamic than this

I don't have problem with Spiral Heart Attack in SMC3, because at least they showed their creativeness to some extend. It has their own camera angles, and what's more: the animation is fluid. The same applied to Uranus's transformation, I love the close-up part at the beginning of the transformation. The camera movement add a sense of depth in the scene. That's why I'm not a fan of Neptune's.

I think I'm just gonna go into the movie hoping that they at least do justice in adapting the Dream arc (which is my favorite part of the manga). I don't think that's unreasonable since they hired a new screenwriter who has experience.

I rewatched the Crisis transformation and while it's mediocre, it's not AWFUL. It's just disappointing really, but honestly, I'm kind of glad they showed it now because it's going to help me adjust my expectations for the movie.
If nothing else, it's not a total slideshow and those close up frames of Usagi and Chibiusa near the end looked really nice.

The transformation is really not what I was hoping for :( it has all of the issues I disliked about S3's transformation, particularly the hair looking randomly short and super stiff.

I know they're re-using the 90's transformations for nostalgia but I think it's a really bad choice, not just because I want something new but because it invites comparison and the 90's version clearly wins lol.

The character designs look lovely though so I'm really happy about that. And Chibiusa's voice is so cute lol

Yes in the teaser. Also by watching it frame by frame I spotted beautiful frakes as well, so there might still be some glimpses of gorgeousness here and there. I just want to see something original at this point. All they show has been retraced.

I agree, i know there will be moments that are awesome whats funny is with sailor moon crystal the transformations have never been the nicest looking moments all the most beautiful moments have been during key plot moments. So im still hopeful that the films will be nice looking. there are moments in the trailer that i think are quite nice looking and whats funny more interesting then the new transformation. That is why I'm so disappointed is the the transformation is boring. It looks fine nothing special, but i want something like pretty cure. I think i need to keep reminding myself that pretty cure is constantly providing new content and there is no nostalgia factor. they can do whatever they would like to do and i think execs an toei are just consistently afraid to give sailor moon a chance with creativity. i honestly think if we just had a different director from the start one who really cares about sailor moon, this series would have been excellent. i think toei is trying to come back from the disaster of the first seasons and i just dont think that they understand how.

I still love the designs. lol i think the movies will still be good but im cautious.

I think that's a big part of the problem. They want the reboot to be a success, but they don't know how. They're trying to appeal to both nostalgia and to people who just want a fresh take all at the same time and it's not working out so good. It would be better if they ripped off the bandaid and just chose a direction one way or the other instead of attempting both.

I've never seen this Pretty Cure but from what I've gleaned from conversations on this forum it's an ongoing franchise and that because it's their original property they've been able to be more free spirited with it in the creativity department instead of attempting to appeal to two different fanbases like Crystal/Eternal has been trying to do.

And you guys are too busy treating Toei as a single entity to realize that the actual production crew wouldn't have wanted it to look like this.

I'm just so sick of this fandom talking about animators like they're pieces of trash. They already work in borderline-sweatshop conditions to pump stuff out in as little time as possible and this pandemic has only made it worse.

(And If it was so close to being finished last year they wouldn't have given it a September release date.)
Whenever I've expressed dislike for the animation, I'm not blaming the animators, more so the people who do quality control on it or check to see if it looks good or not, as it was like they were indifferent to how it looked or something, like remember that infamous error in Act 17 when Moon cast her Princess Halation with the Moon Stick? Screen testing exists so the people who are looking at it can find errors like this and correct them!!

I agree. Feels like this isn't the final product yet. Just something to show off on :usagi:'s birthday.

Also negative criticism provides page views and likes (or dislikes in this case).

What I'm really hoping to see is the new Mercury Aqua Mirage. 90's really botched that one.
The 90's one was fine, Crystal just did a copy of it, that one should have had new animation seeing how they did new animation for the others' attacks, even with Uranus and Neptune's Space Sword Blaster and Submarine Reflection.

I'm afraid that my fears of how Toei's treating Sailor Moon are being realized though, that Sailor Moon and the Sailor Soldiers are just going to end up being the unloved stepdaughters at Toei Animation, picking up whatever table scraps are left after the true children (Goku, Krillin, the Z Fighters, the Saints of Athena, and the Pretty Cure) have eaten their fill.

For some odd reason Crystal has better inbetween frames, especially in stock footage rather than key ones.
And that's really bad, and there's even little to no shading (something I can see plenty of in the original anime version), hell, as much as I disliked them, the CG transformations in Seasons 1 and 2 even had shading all over the characters.

Gotta say, after finding some clips on youtube, this transformation to me is better than on the Pretty Cure people are talking about. They're too long, too over the top.

This one on Eternal just needs some tweaking (fix the profiles and hair, and smooth it out)

Honestly Moon Prism and Moon Crystal from the 90s anime are to me perfection. Perfect choreography, music, just the right amount of pizazz without going over the top, and not so long that I'm tempted to pick up my phone. I actually look forward to the transformations in classic and R, which I can't say for Cosmic, Crisis or Eternal. (Of those three I like Crisis the best though)

Though I fully acknowledge that I'm probably in the minority here.

You're very optimistic here. I don't think one minute we will get the last arc in movie......maybe a CD Drama if we're lucky for 2035 :)

Moon Prism Power is my favorite, too.
