However, this wasn't a good idea because it allows me to see how much of the old one it's not. Even though, I suspect it's not finished, it still was a bit of a shoddy presentation for Sailor Moon's b-day.
LOL. This movie teaser is one long product placement ad for fans to buy more :usagi: merch. It's quite a healthy fandom on the financial side of things.

So while it may fail in the eyes of some fans these executives don't really care one way or the other just so long as they get their new Porsches and Ferraris. XD

When it comes to SMC 1 - 3, Japanese fans say out loud: The 90's is definitely better! I want to watch the 90's. I want to return to old days. Although SMC is trying their best, I still watch 90's.
And now they shut their mouths up.
And what's more: They (Japanese fans) ask us to be silent because "Having a new SM movie is your happiness".

I can understand that position and maybe it's a cultural thing to just accept it the way it is, because you can't change it anyway by complaining (i disagree) so why feel the anger if you can instead peacefully just ignore or accept it? Although I don't like what Toei is producing Sailor Moon related since Crystal, I like the japanese attitude.

At the same time - japanese fans wouldn't be so nostalgic if Crystal had been a fantastic anime with best visuals and well scripted storyline.

What's the story behind Dragon Ball Broly? Wasn't there also a shitstorm by (international) fans that made Toei put more effort into the film?

I wish they listened to us but it is highly unlikely
A lot of people need to understand bad scheduling is probably the biggest reason productions can end up looking bad.

I don't know much about the industry or how the production of anime goes, but even I know that you can't throw more money at an animator and expect them to crap out gold.

I had to block users like SailorTortilla from Twitter because my timeline kept getting clogged up with her trash takes; blaming the production crew, ignoring when people try to remind her that different projects have different people working on them and that Toei isn't a single person, acts like Eternal has literally been in production for four years straight, and pretty much throwing fits and demanding more frames whenever a subpar episode of One Piece (a nearly 1000 episode show that's been airing continuously for 20 years) or Crystal airs because otherwise the staff is lazy and just wants fans' money.

In an industry where directors and animators can go for days without sleep and are constantly getting sick from overworking (it's even worse if you're the latter, animators have been known to end up killing themselves), all while being so underpaid you can't possibly support a family, I just can't be bothered to listen to those kinds of takes anymore.
You're totally right. If there is "someone" to blame for this is Toei, as a company, in the first place because it's clearly visible they are not giving it a decent budget and I would add Naoko. She owns the franchise and is the supervisor this time, why does she accept that?
I've seen people being too hard on Osabu and the composer, saying the music is pure sh*t. God, you can state you don't like something but using those words with someone from another culture about their work is unbelievable.

While they do not read this forum, I bet they check youtube comments in the official channel and their official twitter. Unfortunately, though, it looks very silent when it comes to comments from Japan. They simply retwitt, saying happy birthday, but nothing about their opinion. I found one Japanese vomment that call them lazy, one that complained Sailor Moon has baby face, and nothing of substance. Fans from USA and Latin America are a lot more vocal, but I assume their complains and claims are simply ignored...
Fans from USA and Latin America are plain rude. You can say you don't like something without using strong words. More so with people from a culture like the Japanese.
I also was looking for comments from the Japanese about the transformation but found nothing substantial I guess that the Japanese show their dissatisfaction by not going to the cinema lol. They did that with Season 3 Blu-Ray sales.

What seems odd to me is that the attacks from previous teaser seemed fluid and in general looked animated pretty well. So what happened here? Maybe it really isnt a final version?
The attacks were shown for few frams. Mars looked unfinished as well, and Jupiter missed some frames as well. It might all be unfinished, although. It doesn't make sense. While for the rest they need storyboards and all, the moment they decided to copy transformations and attacks when they can, it makes more sense to start with them and the fact Venus was in the trailer supports the idea they started with the stock footage. Maybe the attacks look better because they will reuse them, while the transformations might be once per movie or even used once. I think they wouldn't show unfinished transformation. I honestly thinks this is what we are going to get. If they end up fixing it fine, but i wont expect it at this point.

I feel like none of these issues would have happened if Crystal took a reverse trajectory.

Like it started with a season with all of the manga's comedy removed, COMPLEX designs that made the girls look like 20-year-olds (despite being 14) and almost no references to the '90s anime aside from the transformations and speeches. This is despite the fact that when it comes to nostalgia for the '90s anime, most of it is probably for the first and/or second, third seasons.

We are now at the "fourth season" and the designs are simpler that make the girls look younger. Everything is copied from the '90s anime and the tone will probably be not as serious as Crystal Season 1. This is despite the fact that in terms of nostalgia, NO ONE thinks of SuperS fondly because it pretty much bombed.

Crystal really should have started with Tadano's Eternal designs and then gradually update and mature them, while making the attacks and transformations initially reference the '90s anime, but eventually evolve into their own unique THING by the time we get to Infinity and Dream...

Like even the realtime attacks would have made more sense in a Stars arc adaptation where 60% of the manga is literally just battles. It's going to look so dumb when we end up getting spammed with the '90s version of "Starlight Honeymoon Therapy Kiss."

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'd rather they continued with the same approach of the first two seasons of Crystal over creating this weird, inconsistent (and still incompetent) Frankenstein of an adaptation that will end up pleasing no one.

I'm still being cautiously optimistic. I feel I don't know enough about the movie yet to make any definitive opinions. So I'll be going into it with an open mind, and hopefully it's good, but maybe it won't be. Gonna wait and see.

Peachy writes so in her comment: "I am let down, and I said as much. I just didn't make my disappointment the focus of the video."

Something will become so good if you stop comparing. You couldn't expect there is an upbeat violin song like SM 90's. Why must it be a violin? Why don't you think it's just different, not bad?
I wasn't expecting violin. I am a great admirer of music in general and I could have been happy with anything good... but the OST of the new transformations is... dull... .lacks spirit,. lacks strength... it's like ... the piped music of a museum

I don't just compare, reqally. When everyone complains about Crystal comparing with the 90s animes I think like you, "just stop comparing!", but in this case, if the new thing is (in my opinion), BAD, I can't help by thinking "it's so dull and plain, and the 90s was so good". I don't think its bad because I compare... for me it's bad, and worse when I compare.

Now that I have watched Aurora's video and the transformation again I can't stop noticing and focusing on all that's wrong. I spent the whole transformation looking at the loosely animated hair. The bangs could be drawn so much better, much more natural and not the four chunks of modelling clay they've drawn. :umno:

I love the dreamy music. It goes well with the camera angle at the beginning of Uranus' scene. :D:D:D

Well, look at this as some test to see whether Toei will fix it and use these extra six months to keep they words "to work even more and give us a more enjoyable product". They stated it in the delay message. If they do shame on us. But the hair was bad indeed. Even on that derpy frame with pony Pegasus her hair is animated better...
