I imagine a US adaption would go with the Wonder Woman (2017) route with the Sailor Suits and make them armored.

Yes, but those are too much and look really uncomfortable for battle.

The Wonder Woman suit from the Gal Galdot movie has lots of pieces that would traslate well into styling and modernising Sailor Moon suits with a more realistic look. She is wearing a tiara, has a suit-armor, high boots, kind of a short skirt...

That should be the way to me. I would keep the actual skirts for the show cause they would look great in real life. Make them with a darker fabric to look more serious and not that colorful and thats it.

I love the camp in Sailor Moon. It’s probably what drew me into the series in the first place. Seeing Usagi transform surrounded by neon hearts and ribbons, those iconic poses, declaring herself as a beautiful soldier of love while doing a cheesy speech? I was hooked!

I love that it can contain heartwarming and darker, emotional stories even within that framework. I think American or Japanese it’ll be campy but I am here for it!

Wow... am I the only one who'd want another reboot after this one?? I would live for more Sailor Moon anime. I'm a huge fan of the series in anime, more so the 90s anime but still... Eternal looks amazing right now and what Crystal honestly should have been! I'll take another anime series ASAP after Stars. Why the hell should I have to wait another 10-20 years when I'm a die-hard fan?

Personally, I love almost everything about Sailor Moon.

So basically no to a sequel.
No to a live action adaptation.
This fandom hates CGI animation so that’s probably a no too.
No to any spin-offs.

So just 1:1 anime adaptations of the manga for the rest of our lives? If that’s the case just let it end after the Stars arc. No one, whether it’s old or new fans, would actually want that.
A sequel is not gonna happen unless Naoko makes it and she hasnt basically written anything for 20 years. She is clearly a retired manga author. She is no longer interested in that and clearly doesnt want to do it. So I think we have to respect that as she is the author. Maybe we can see a sequel of the original series when she passes away and their kids get to manage the Sailor Moon franchise which the result can be terrifying tbh.

Another thing they could make is a new series ( adapting again the manga or being a mix of the manga with the 90s anime ) but in 3D with the Universal Studios Japan designs ( that the fandom liked very much ). Toei made a new Saint Seiya ( suitable for a younger audience ) for Netflix in full 3D. Fans didnt like it very much from what I know but it can be done to reach new and younger audiences.

Please NO MORE CGI in the future. CGI transformations were a terrible idea to me, why did they even do that to begin with. *sighs*
I'm kinda convinced it was done to save on time or it was some producer's idea. Munehisa Sakai did a great job with the transformations in Suite Precure a few years prior, so I have a hard time believing it was all his fault or something.

Personally I don't think any anime only sequel series will be good.

I wouldn’t even say Naoko has to write a new manga (though I would love that) She clearly gave the OK to PGSM even though it deviates from her original plot. She also got her wish of a faithful anime adaptation, too. I don’t see why she couldn’t oversee a new project, even if it was just a basic draft and a few character design sheets for them to work with.

Not trying to attack Naoko here as it is her right to do as she pleases. It’s just funny that she has time to write the lyrics to many of Crystal’s OP and ED songs and yet can’t find the time to draw a few bits and pieces..I thought she might at least draw a new piece for her magazine interview but nope..

She also supervised Eternal, so it's not like she couldn't do the same for a new project. She doesn't HAVE to draw a manga.

Honestly, this fandom makes no sense sometimes, y'all sent pages MOANING that the new movies are a copy of the manga, and yet a new story would taint the franchise? Really? It's not like a new story has to be anything crazy long either. Why not have a short Silver Millennium prequel episode showing how Prince Endymion met Princess Serenity? Or even just a short one hour non-canonical movie like the original '90s anime films...

America can do it if the appeal is there. A Sailor Moon movie is not hard to accomplish. As I mentioned in another thread, we have the cinematic budget to produce a high quality Sailor Moon movie. The Sailor Senshi fuku can easily be similar to Wonder Woman's. If we can create movies like Avengers or other visual masterpieces like Love & Monsters with CGI, a Sailor Moon movie is a piece of cake visually.

The problem would be the story/creative freedom. First of all, it'd have to be adapted for American audiences and Naoko would have to approve it and being that America is very diverse, the movie folks are going to want to push diversity with the cast so that all real girls can feel they can be a senshi too. Sailor Senshi of different racial backgrounds is going to be on the forefront. Naoko would have to approve that.

Second, some things in the story, like Mamoru's age would have to be changed for sure.

I feel like America has become a bit more progressive but there are still some content people like to gripe about in films marketed towards kids or even young adults (which I wont go into detail about)

It will most likely be PG rated film but may be PG-13 for creature action/violence depending on how they do it. I think a movie with 14 year old girls with powers like Marvel Super heroes and combat skills like Wonder Woman or whatever would be actually pretty cool.

The transformations won't be a problem because their bodies can glow while they transform so it won't seem "sexualized".

I'm pretty sure it is known how popular Sailor Moon is over here so execs are drooling at the opportunity to make money off this franchise.

It can be done but it really all comes down to whether Naoko would approve of some of these changes (and she probably wont) and I honestly feel there will be a lot of creative differences which will make the idea of a movie never get made for years to come. I'd be surprised if it does but it's a good thought.

Yes, I think that with the characters of the original show you can have racial diversity in the girls.

Mars and Saturn could be american girls with asian featurings ( specially mars ). I see a Makoto with latin ascendency. Setsuna being black... If they made a great casting ( something that doesnt usually happen sadly with live action films... Netflix would totally butcher it like they have done with the Fate Winx Club tv series ) it could work.

I never wanted anything but a perfect manga copy from Crystal.

As for some of the villains the outfits they wear can translate well into live action such as Beryl and the Dark Generals(Manga designs) some members of the Black Moon Clan such Demande, Saphir, Wiseman, and Rubeus, Tomoe, and Kaolinite are a prime example others outfits such as the Ayakashi Sisters and Witches 5... however do not.

I still see no reason not to have a new story from SM. There's so much possibilities its crazy. If Naoko can supervise Eternal its possible she can supervise a brand new story. Think about Another Story as an example. You already have a great cast of new characters, interesting and unique plot and tons of SM fanservice with so many old characters, events and places making a return. Perfect for another annivesary? You bet. All you need is some good writing to create a cohesive story that changes some events to include 4th and 5th arcs and make it fitting for anime format.

But thats just one small example
