Crystal is manga adaptatiopn. 90S not . 90S cannot be a PROPER manga adaptation no matter what you do to it. Some fans, which are not
less important than you that you have 200 epsiodes, specials and movies of the 90s wanted faithful manga adaptation. You still have your 90s anime. We had just the manga, before Crystal. Greedy much? Just accept it this era of Sailor Moon with superficial 90s ellements with no bearing to the plot. It has been for 7 years. It is getting closer and closer to the manga plot with each CRYSTAL season and yes, Eternal is part of CRYSTAL,
QFT!

sounds like sour grapes from the 90s anime fraction.

The other issue is TOEI as well, Naoko should quit TOEI for SM Crystal and have MAPPA or another studio instead adapt it.

Well they started referring to the 90s anime to let nostalgia rescue the sinking ship that Crystal was.

A new reboot will have to learn from the errors Crystal made. And I think telling again the manga story will be only justified and wanted if it brings something fresh with it. I personally want it to be top notch animated and creatively written. No more 1:1. You can tell e.g. the Dark Kingdom story in a 120 minutes movie if you rewrite and rearrange the events a bit. The X-Men movies also have a lot of characters and when done well, none gets the short end of the stick.

I think a faithful adaptation was needed but once. Next time they reboot we need something new and modern. Another Dark kingdom retelling would be ridiculous. You can spin a thousand stories with just inspiration. They can go in different direction with just the characters and their designs. A new reboot should have a lot more depth than both the 90s show and the manga. Something more coherent. Even kids nowadays want something more modern.

Not really the transformations, was just references that is it. Crystal is not a failure by any means. We would not had these movies, or season 3.I would love to see more in depth version of sailor moon.My point was mostly they were never going to used the 90 s anime a source.

Yeah. It was clear. In fact I think the smartest would have been to start ot safe with 90s transformation for the first season and gradually introduce new stuff.

Sorry, I don't watch that series, so can you show me the Japanse title of that Digimon movie? Is there a line "gekijouban" (movie theater) in the title? After being splitted into episodes, did they keep that line in the title?
Here's all the information that you need! The titles did not seem to include gekijouban, but as you'll see it was released in theaters in Japan and as a series internationally, although this was done in order to have an immediate release overseas, so t might not be the case with SME.

Yeah, sorry but i am tired of the 90s show at this point.
Without the success of the 90´s anime, the manga would never have gone past the first arc. It was the anime success that triggered money and allowed the manga to go on, even if both anime and manga profited from each other in the end.
I understand you may be tired of the 90’s anime but even now, it’s goodies with the 90’s design that sell very well and allowed money income to make Crystal and Eternal possible. Things may be different with Eternal since lot of goodies and collabs with its design were made and maybe it’s somewhat more self-sustained than Crystal S1-3 was.

My point is manga fans / purists should realize that their beloved manga would be nothing without
the original anime, and should maybe be a little less harsh when talking about it.

It took Naoko and the staff 7 years to realize that the best option is 90´s design with manga story. Would have been this from the start, Crystal would have not done so much damage to the franchise reputation.

I love the 90’s anime! It’s fantastic but..... it wouldn’t exist ok without the manga. But the mage and anime five and take from one another.

The manga is beautiful, the 90’s could be but often looked terrible.

the manga has no character development the anime has loads full.

it’s a matter of preference but not are great, the manga was a nyt best seller i don’t think it would have sold the millions upon millions of copies of it was mediocre.
That being said, the international popularity of the franchise is because of the anime.

also I wish there was more manga merch! And crystal merch! I would die for sailor moon to collaborate with more high end brands! Clothing specifically.

It's not that easy. It seems like Naoko has a long term bussiness deal/realationship with TOEI and Bandai and she doesn't want or is not able to quit. SM is stuck with toei and bandai forerver. Like I have always wanted a sailor moon nendroid that will never happen.

Im sure BANDAI will ( sadly ) still have the license of Sailor Moon when it comes to figures and stuff but there has been other licenses Bandai had in the past that have been opened recently to other merchandise brands for colaborations outside Bandai. For example Naruto has also been a Bandai license but they got an agreement with Good Smile Company to sell Naruto Nendoroids outside Japan. Same thing can still happen to Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball, etc. ( in fact they have already made Arale Nendoroids too and also announced Hatsune Miku x Digimon nendoroids). Im sure that we will have SM nendoroids in the future since the line that Bandai tried to recreate ( petit chara dx ) failed.

At the end of the day money is money... Nendoroids are now the most popular japanese action figures out there ( they sell more than SH figuarts or Figma, for example ) and Im sure that if they see Sailor Moon can make lots of money with it, they will go for it.

Look at Supers and think how successful would be the 90s show without Naoko... People treat it as a masterpiece, but it far far from it. You just cannot be kids again. All the versions are flawed. It is what it is. Every version has straight and weaknesses.

She tried to do that after in the late 90s after the disaster of PQAngels which caused her to drop it and early 2000s but it was reversed in when PGSM was produced.

PQAngels was also licensed to TOEI but the project was dropped prior to a volume being published.

Actually, when Takeuchi tried to severe her relationship with TOEI back in the late 90s/early 2000s prior to PGSM, the fandom and distribution suffered in some way, I remember that being talked about in Save Our Sailors about Sailor Moon being off-air due to the issues of Takeuchi with TOEI.

So yeah, she cannot.

They're trying it again with the figuarts mini line so i don't think they will give up on the license anytime soon. The paint job on new figuarts mini Super Moon's dress is a mess, bandai is horrible just like Toei i can't.

Im not saying that they will give up on the license of course not but they can still have the SM license and let other brands make merchan of products at the same time like they did years ago with the SH Figuarts line and Legend Studio ( chinese brand ) who also got the sm license to sell action figure outside japan.
