I find it strange that they took out details (such as Sailor Moon's mask all series and her hair-pin attack in ep 2) that didn't get fleshed out in the manga, but left in the fact that Jadeite felt attracted to Rei even though the manga doesn't explore the pairings.

Since it's possible that Crystal will have some deviations from the manga, and this scene was left in, do you think it's possible that they'll try to show the generals and senshi as former lovers? Or do you think this is just a one-time thing like it was in the manga.

It's hard to know, because we just don't know what series producers are planning. Right now, it seems like they are just copying word for word what happened in the manga. So the only reason Jadeite's attraction was referenced in Crystal is probably because it was in the manga. Nothing more, nothing less.

It's going to really depend on how much they start to deviate from the manga. In a year, we will know everything.

i think it's something a huge chunk of the fanbase would love to see. i definitely would.
at first i didn't want to get my hopes up about it but after seeing act 3 i can't help it! i really hope they develop those relationships, and i also really hope the scenes with the shitennou and Mamoru are left in as well. beyond just having some sweet moments and finally some more satisfying relationships for the inner senshi i really want all of the characters to have better character development that follows the manga more faithfully but also expands and adds where it needs to

I think some fans put too much stock in that image. It's a nice illustration, everyone is coupled up so there is a sense of balance and symmetry. However, as I expressed in the Kunzite x Zoicite thread, I can't really get behind these pairings. They strike me as contrived and almost like an after thought Takeuchi had whilst writing the manga. It makes things 'too perfect', if you catch my drift ^_^'

If Crystal does anything with the villains, I hope it's to develop the relationship they have between each other.

I hope this doesn't happen, it just looks... too fake to happen; I mean, that each guardian develops romantic feelings with their counterpart of Mamoru's generals? all of them? That'd be too fake and would be pulling the destiny thing way too far; I think it looks more natural and easy to believe if it doesn't happen.

What I hope is that they keep the generals for some time and develop them in the way that Naoko wanted them to be, since it looks like the first arc will took all 26 episodes, since Jadeite survived and that means he will appear again (c'mon, teleporting animation and noise? it was CRYSTAL clear to me... but here's no place to discuss that right now, there's another thread).

I also hope they stay as their namesake stones and appear to Mamoru in spirit forms sometimes if they get to adapt the rest of the arcs, or flashbacks from them in the age of when the Silver Millenium was on the moon. :smug:

I don't think I could picture the Senshi with the Shitennou maybe in the past I could, when the Shitennou were good, that is.

While I agree it feels forced for all of them to fall in love with each other, we're talking about a fantasy story involving the Moon Kingdom, so it's not that far-fetched in their world.

I think it'd be nice to see more hintings of romantic feelings, but not romantic relationships. Whether you put stock in that image or not, there's definitely some kind of chemistry going on between Venus and Kunzite when she goes to retrieve the Princess. It'd be kind of interesting to see that there had been some interest (even 1-sided) between the generals and senshi in their past-lives, but I'd prefer that nothing come of it because they both have their duties and responsibility to their home world.

Maybe Takeuchi could write another Parallel Sailor Moon story for the married lives of Senshi X Shitennou, then. lol

...you know, though, it would work out really depressingly. Usagi manages to have a happy ending even after trying to stab a possessed Mamoru, but i doubt very highly that even if we do see hintings of feelings between these two groups that it will at all change their ultimate end which means that the girls would still end up alone after the first arc closed.

then we would have to have a judge judy type of episode where each girl battles Mamoru for custody of their crush's rock form so they can flirt from beyond the grave. :ohdear:

Didn't in PGSM.

In fact, the only one hinted at was Nephrite and Mercury which isn't even in that picture. Unless you count Zoisite/Venus which is ridiculous since it was so obvious it was Venus/Mars. Plus Zoisite is so gay for Endymion. That man is not straight. Is. Not. Straight. Motoki/Makoto is a superior pairing as well.

So if it didn't happen in PGSM why would it happen in Crystal? That was Naoko's big chance and that show went even farther from the manga than the 90s anime did! If there was intention of those pairings, PGSM would've hit it. The fact that it didn't shows it was just a one off piece of art and not to be taken serious.

Because PGSM was something else entirely, and was never stated to be faithful to the manga, as has been said about Crystal.

Not only that, but I believe Naoko had a hand in the new Musicals, which did use it. While we might get some PGSM stuff (like we already saw with Rei), as far as live-action stuff goes I imagine we'll get the most from the new Musicals.
