Actually, beginning with episode 66, the Mexican studio which produced the Spanish dub threw these scripts out the window and hired a Japanese translator, who even returned for Crystal. She also did Dragon Ball, Cardcaptor Sakura, and plenty of big anime properties.
And this is a creative decision rather than an error, because of the sentence structure in romance languages. Mercury shouting "Rapsodia" during a close-up of her hand holding her planetary symbol wouldn't make much sense. Another solution could be "Mercurio! Rapsodia Acuatica!", but that would sound pretty awkward. The same applies for the rest of the Super attacks.
But didn't the Mexican dub still use the weird translations like Eugeal, Byruit, Remless, etc. just like the other international dubs?

No.
"Most of the villains in Sailor Moon S either kept their names or had them directly translated, as in "Dama 9" (Mistress 9) or "Faraón 90" (Pharaoh 90). The only exceptions to this were Eudial, who was renamed "Yuyal," and Kaolinite, who was renamed "Kaolinette." The Death Busters were called either "Los Maldecidos de la Muerte" (The Cursed of Death) or "Los Cazadores de la Muerte" (The Death Hunters), but later their name was kept as a direct translation. The Daimons were called "Demonios" (Demons).
In the Sailor Moon SuperS season, most of the main villains' names were either kept or directly translated, though Queen Nehellenia became "Queen Neherenia." Hawk's Eye became "Ojo de Águila" (Eagle's Eye) for unknown reasons, and PallaPalla became "ParaPara." The Lemures became either "Sombras" (Shadows) or "Comesueños" (Dream-Eaters). In the Sailor Moon SuperS movie, Perle became "Peruru," Poupelin became "Púrpura" (Purple), and Queen Badiane became "Miss Vadiyanu."
Sailor Galaxia and the Sailor Animamates kept their names, although they were pronounced like the Japanese version (e.g. "Aluminum Seilen" or "Red Kurow"), but the Phages were referred to as "Zombies.""

So I've been having disjointed chats with Marc Donato, Tanya's brother. According to him, the two of them did some voice work in the 2000 Optimum dub. Just before Sailor Moon, he was in titles such as "It's Itsy Bitsy Time", "Tales from the Cryptkeeper", "The Animal Shelf", and "Rescue Heroes".
Then after Sailor Moon: "Degrassi: Next Gen", "The Future is Wild", and "Clubhouse". If anyone knows where I can get sources of his voice to match up with any roles he may have played in SM, that would be great. It has taken me 2 months just to get 2 replies...

This is all I have so far:

So, what kind of announcements do you think Viz has in store for the 25th anniversary of Sailor Moon in North America? I'm hoping for a rerelease of the old dub.

Would be cool if they acknowledge it in some way.

So crazy to think it's been 25 years ... but it checks out, I was watching it when I was 5 and I'm now 30 lol. Barely remember it except for the odd thing here and there, but that transformation music was killer lol. Last time I heard it I would've just turned 6 I think and I still remember it XD

Yeah, it's too bad actually. It would be nice if they could even just do a limited run of it for the fans of the old dub to grab it. It wouldn't work to mass produce them or else there would just be so much confusion with the Viz releases, but if they could just do a set online only or something.
It's been too long since I've watched it to have any real nostalgia with it, but I totally get how the fans of it feel. I grew up with the Digimon dub and it's very near and dear to my heart and full of such happy memories of watching it with my sisters and friends, that it would be cripplingly disappointing if they released a new dub of it on DVD but not the original.
A lot of people feel that way about the original dub for Sailor Moon, so it's sad that there's never been a proper set for it and even the singles are woefully out of print (and I think incomplete)

I saw some reviews on Amazon for the Viz releases who were out of the loop and happily picked up some of the DVDs and were really sad to see it wasn't the show they remembered.

I amnot a fan of localized dubs, and any dubs for that matter. I am one of these people that everything should be experienced as intended by its creators, in the language it was created with good subtitles that both work as translation and retain the cultural nuances, as America is not the whole world. For me the old American dub by DiC ( the Cloverway dub I hate for the cast and I find it unwatchable), however is a wonderful entertaining way to experience the show in even more comedic and even less serious way and it is fun. Even if you make fun of it, it is still fun and a guilty pleasure. It made the franchise in the USA. It has fans. Yes, of course fans need a proper dub in the most widely spread language in the world. But this old Dub or adaptation as I call them , has it's cultural value and it is place in pop culture. The fans should able to chose their poison and experience both versions - the more faithful (when the original script is wake enough) and the loosely-based one dub. If they have the rights to both dubs, they should release it. Maybe as Digital only release or something - we know it cannot be remastered, it cannot be on blu-ray, but it can be released. As long as there are people that want to see it. There was a lot of effort put in the DiC version specifically and a lot of talent. Do I like the dub? No, I do not, I want my Usagi to be called Usagi, but I respect people that love this old dub. I do not know how it feels to grow up with it, so I have no nostalgia attachment to it, but I have still seen it and I experienced the show in a new way. Give other people this opportunity. At least aknowledge it existed... So guys, if you have a way to get your hands on these SMC releases - grab them! It is not like VIZ were honest and didn't give you shitty quality of the first three seasons for your well-earned money.

I believe the CWi dub reverted to Toei as most Latin Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese dubs Cloverway produced themselves. I believe they can release it, but only after the Viz license expires. They did put money on a license and a dub of their own and they don't want competition, that's for sure.

I doubt people care about it as much as the DiC one for Classic and R -at least I want to own this one. The cloverway one is easy to pirate and I cannot really stand Linda...

Apparently, Latin American masters from CWi didn't have the same luck as the audio tracks. There's a possibility the DiC masters are also lost, though I don't remember what Charlene from Viz said about the subject back in the day of the redub announcement.

This is too bad. :( So the chances of this happening might be as good as the show getting a proper Blu Ray... If the masters as lost :( I feel stupid for not downloading them while they were way more accessible.
