Share your "favorite" lines of ridiculous dialog from the anime, any of its dubs, Crystal, the live action series, the manga (including Sailor V), the musicals, and/or the video games.

I'll start with some head-scratchers from season one of the 90s anime. (Subs by Sailor Moon Center.)

Episode 1:

(1. It's not a bald spot. 2. Why can't girls eat lunch early, Naru? 3. What do superheroes have to do with it being the end of the century?)

Episode 2:

(What do old men have to do with.....anything going on in this episode?)

Episode 3:

(Is this supposed to be a pun? Is it wordplay? What is even happening???)

Episode 4:

(Ah yes, the famous pineapple and love diet fads of the early 90s...)

(Even if the subs were written more grammatically, this is still such a bizarre thing to say?)

Episode 5:

(I mean...do I even need to explain?)

Episode 6:

(Again... Such a random, weird thing for her to say.)

Episode 7:

(Why are they randomly talking about being Cinderellas? I don't get it. Is that some sort of reference that makes sense in Japan??)

(I think you're looking for episodes 101 and 102, Usagi...)

A lot of dialog regarding love and feelings is cheesy and unfitting for 14-year old girls, let alone villains in their 20s like Koan.
Don't kill me for saying it, but if I was in charge of a dub I would tone it down a bit.

Mercury's catchphrase, "Douse yourself in water, and repent!" is probably the most awkward phrase in the entire series. The only explanation I could ever think of it was that it was a reference to "Repent and be baptized" but due to it being translated into Japanese and back, it lost its meaning.

Kunzite's line never in the old sub made much sense. "What a waste of light. I want to see the darkness." Weirdly, the official subs and dub translated it a lit less literally...but I could have sworn this line was also in the manga and translated in a similar manner.

But the absolute worst Sailor Moon speech of all time is in the conclusion to the Makai Tree arc. "Plants are vital to Mother Nature! They are friends to every living thing! As the saying goes, 'Heaven does not create one plant above another plant or another plant below that plant!'" And that's in the Viz dub which actually smoothed the line out. It's supposed to be humorous...but it doesn't even make enough sense to be funny.

Still one of my favorites.
"You can't win over a man's heart by force", tell me about it Haruka.

This piece of dialogue is borrowed from Bishoujo Kamen Poitrine (article here). She said things like that in every episode adding a twist: even if (the father of music, the inventor of something, the United Nations) forgives you, I will not.

The same thing happened in Kekko Kamen...

Cinderella was the original rags to riches story the glass slippers in the end were how she achieved riches. Talent shows also tend to market themselves as being similar. Taking ordinary people, giving the slippers via taking part in the show and propelling them to stardom.

The line in episode 14 is partially a reference to the shoujo manga and anime series, "Ace wo Nerae" or "Aim for Ace". Similarly, Sailor Moon mentions a reference to a volleyball shoujo series "Attack no. 1" in episode 100.

Naru has just been established by the story as upper class so we're supposed to unterstand that she was bought up to be a proper lady which I guess means not eating lunch early. Thats what I thought anyway. End/turn of of the century is just the story's way of saying "the times they are a changin".
Episode 2:

(What do old men have to do with.....anything going on in this episode?)
This evil fortune teller was percieved getting more business then the old man because of her beauty and more up market shop. It's often thought the old are jealous of the young.
Episode 3:

(Is this supposed to be a pun? Is it wordplay? What is even happening???)
Could be a pun. Abominable can mean terrible or loathsome so maybe it's like this "Trying to ruin girls' dreams of love is abominable! Abominable just like a certain snowman!"

I understand what it means, and to a Japanese audience watching in 1992 it was probably an unexceptional line, but as an American watching the show, it's just ridiculous sounding. (And that's not a criticism! I love some ridiculousness now and then! It's just an observation.)

When Sailor Moon tells Kunzite even if he buys them expensive new dresses she wont forgive him for tearing up their outfits...the ones that get automatically repaired everytime you transform anyways...
