So... Is Viz ever going to just come out and admit they hired like three voice actors to do all the characters? Or does everyone in the anime dubbing industry today really just sound identical (and bland to boot)? You'd think they'd want the AnimaMates to all sound different, and yet they sound like literally every single other female character in this lazy redub so far...

Oh man, Katie Leigh is perfect as Iron Mouse! She nails the cuteness of the character and brings the right amount of spunkiness from her Connie voice into the role to make her sound delightfully evil yet playfully charming.

Stephanie's call out for Moon Eternal Makeup was majorly lackluster. She sounded half sleep on it she did better on the attack still not as much enthusiasm I would have liked her to have Kotono sounded so badass during this final season with her transformation calls so I was hoping Stephanie would go all out.

the voices for the Animates sound decent from what I heard, Iron Mouse's VA sounds the best.

I just wish Lead Crow and Galaxia's voice were a tone deeper especially Galaxia's voice I expected a arrogant evil womanly type of voice not a spoiled bratty teen voice.

Nehelenia's Nightmare Mirror scene is the first time Galaxia's dub voice worked for me. I guess it goes to show they casted Carrie based off on how Galaxia sounded there, not realizing how different Galaxia sounds from 173 onward. Not liking her voice in the Starlight episodes, but I haven't heard Iron Mouse's death scene yet. Hopefully she can at least deliver during Galaxia's most dramatic scenes.

I'm loving all the Animamates voices so far. Aluminum Seiren's my favorite. Her delivery in the scene where she gives Sailor Moon her business card is hilarious.

The Moon Eternal call sounded dreadful. The Starlight Honeymoon Therapy Kiss one was meh, but it's not entirely Sheh's fault since the attack name sounds ridiculous to begin with.

As I have said before I am very perturbed by Sailor Galaxia's voice. It dosen't fit her at all. She needs a deeper more commanding voice.

I think North American people get bothered by English anime dubs because they are familiar with voice acting for original productions, where everyone sounds so different and so much creative effort is put on each character. Dubs are more rushed and can't pay so much attention to each character.
I live in Brazil, a country where most animated programming is foreign and dubbed (there are only a few original productions out here), and people usually don't mind if voices in a dub sound similar. They even don't pay much attention to that.
What I think it's really problematic about the Viz dub is the acting. Most of the time, it sounds like they are reading their lines, barely emoting. The delivery isn't as bad as the CWi dub, but it's still bad. I don't think the voices are that similar, though.

"But everyone sounded distinct in the DiC dub." Yeah, but the DiC dub was more of an adaptation than a dub in the literal meaning of the word. It had its own edits, its own dialogue, its own soundtrack. It sorta tried to be an original production. And in the end, it was a really different product.

Those are in no way shape or form even close to being mutually exclusive. I can think of plenty of relatively faithful anime dubs where the characters have distinct voices: Akira, Tenchi Muyo, Dragon Ball Kai/Super, Cowboy Bebop. Just to name a few that I watched and really enjoyed their dubs and they were fairly faithful.

Hell this thing of actors all sounding the same in an anime production is a fairly recent development. It was not an issue with most anime dubs in the 90s/2000s.

Being a faithful dub is not an excuse for such a mediocre product with a homogenous sounding cast where the actors aren’t even allowed to act because the voice director is so bad as his/her job.

Well, I never justified the lackluster acting in this dub.

You’d think they would want the main 5 girls to all sound different but with the exception of Mako they all sound close to the same.

Can we just get a re-redub? Preferably with the Canadian cast but I’ll settle for California to take another crack just as long as there’s a few key recast and a new voice director.

Comes on you guys. You gotta admit All the main 5 VAs have come along way and gelled in their roles perfectly. Especially Cristina's Rei shes one of my faves in this redub. The direction is what makes it lack. The director should've pulled more out of the VA for certain scenes especially when came to the transformation calls which Sheh mainly lacked in. Overall this was good redub.

It has been said time and again and I will repeat it here: The dub of Crystal is worlds better than the 90's anime redub and it's all the same actors in the same character roles.

The dialog in the Crystal dub is also, you know, written to sound natural and not like an overly literal translation, which definitely helps, but also Crystal is so inherently bland with its characters refusing to emote until season 3 that I think the Viz cast's woodenness is just not as noticeable.
