Given how much Viz tries to recreate the Japanese casting (like having Chibi-usa's VA voice Black Lady, and Hotaru's voice Mistress 9), I'm guessing they'll opt for deep voiced female VAs. I could see Mona Marshall being one, and maybe the woman who played Petz voicing another? Casey Mongillo is another possibility, being a Los Angeles-based transwoman VA who voices both male and female characters.

The Starlight songs will likely be dubbed too, being songs sung in-show.

Although they did cast adult men as young boys like Shingo up until Peruru in the SuperS film, so it's not out of the question that they might mix it up here too. Actresses like Mona Marshall and Casey Mongillo would work though (though I think Casey identifies as non-binary now, don't quote me). Don't know who else would work.

Shingo has always been the only thing that really distract me while watching VIZ dubbed episodes. Especially in the episodes with Mikan-chan, where it gave me strange pedophile vibes. The only other thibg that erks me this way is Crystal Season 3 ed 2 with the male added voice. It makes me thing of creepy old binoculars stalking the innocent ChibiUsa running with her pets.i hope they really find fitting deep female voices for our Stars, but it is hard. Japan seems to be the only coubtry that can pull that off in a not jarring way, but they might prove me wrong. May is so far away, though, and it is going to be very exciting month with life action Aladdin to hut the theaters then.

Whoever they cast as the Star Lights, they also have to be actresses who can sing well.

She sounds as bland as everyone else in this dub, so at least she fits right in
She sounds "acceptable", which is kind of how I feel about most of the Viz cast. She's not terribly interesting or bewitching. Of course, I loved Nehelenia's CWI voice, though I think I'm the only person alive who does.

Definitely not! I thought she was awesome and one of the highlights of that season's dub.

I'm glad she has another fan, lol. I remember being confused when I read the comparisons on SMU and Bob absolutely hated Nehelenia's voice. I thought she was great. Maybe not as sensual as Yoshiko Sakakibara, I thought she still delivered.

Honestly, aside from Zirconia (and occasionally Fisheye), I thought the Dark Moon Circus had great voices.

I also don’t recall anything wrong with her Optimum voice actress. Zirconia was terrible. Fish Eye was....off at time. Tiger’s Eye and Hawk’s Eye were meh. The Amazon Quartet were good

And then you have Helios/Pegasus. The voice itself was really good and I get where Optimum was going with it but it turned to be hilariously inappropriate for the character when he ended up being a quasi romantic suitor for Rini and not just a wise old companion/mentor.

The voices for the Remless was bullshit

Am I the only one who likes Zirconia's CWI voice? Lol Like, sure, the gender switch was a bit odd and unnecessary, but it mostly worked with the character's design and the VA gave a great performance IMO.

My issue was it was a lame Yoda reference. I would've preferred Nehelenia's actress using her "old" voice for Zirconia.

It sounded like Trekkie Monster from Avenue Q doing Yoda before Avenue Q was a thing

Wrong gender doesn’t bother me even if it ruins a minor implied but not explicit plot point. I just didnt like the voice. I suppose there was nothing wrong with it from a pure performance stand point

I liked Cloverway Nehelenia too, but Yoshiko Sakakibara has always been my favorite Nehelenia voice.

I actually think Nehelenia is one of the most memorable performances in the Viz dub so far. Laura Post has the perfect villain voice - it's sultry, powerful and foreboding. I'm glad Viz gave her a bigger role this time around. I'm looking forward to seeing how she handles her more emotional scenes in Stars.

"Always remember not to forget, a child's dream is a dream they should never get."

It takes talent to make a rhyme like that sound chilling, but I think Laura pulls it off.
I think CWI's "I shall never doubt the power of innocent dreamers, I shall never doubt the dreams of innocent children" works a lot better. The new rhyme confuses me. "A dream they should never get"?

They 'rhymed' "(for)get" with "get," so it's not even really a rhyme. Who is the "they"? The children? What does "get" mean? To come true? Why would they not want the dreams of children to come true? They're against children losing their dreams and growing up, not against dreams coming true.

I know. It's incredibly vague isn't it? I'm not sure even Viz knows what they're saying. This is actually more of a liberty then Cloverway because the Japanese said "a child's dream is a dream of dreams" basically saying childrens dreams are the most powerful of all.

I was more praising the performance, which in this case, I feel elevates the silly line.

The Cloverway dub had like a million different translations for the chant, practically a new one per episode that the chant was spoken.

FWIW, the Viz subs on Hulu wrote it as "Never ever forget to remember. A child’s dream is a dream of dreams.” which doesn't rhyme at all.
